This place was awesome. You can ask to be picked up at the bus stop. We arrived in the afternoon after an her bus ride. Beautiful country side and welcoming people, we had a great dinner. Bath and rooms were wonderful. We had a room with extra futons so we doubled them up, since it was self serve. We liked... More

Rooms are Japanese style and we stayed 2 nights including dinner and breakfast. They provided us with English instructions on how to use most things at the Onsen so everything was very easy to understand and it was particularly quiet there during our stay which gave us ample opportunity to learn what to do at our own pace without getting... We stayed at this ryokan for 2 nights. It is located in a peaceful and beautiful rural town 1 hr north from Kyoto. The room was simple but cosy for us. The heater worked very well and they provided a tea set that was replenished in the morning. The onsen is spacious and clean. We were able to make 4... More

The town Ohara itself is quite and very relaxing area. It is very easy to go with bus from kyoto. This ryokan was my first ryokan experience, and everything was just perfect. Here are why. 1. The place is totally affordable compare to other ryokans. I guess the only thing you don't get from this place other than other ryokans... More

As foreigners, a visit to a Japanese onsen is a must, and we were quite excited and nervous as well. Despite reading as much as we could about the do's and dont's, we still weren't sure if we will 'fit in'. But, Ohara Sanso made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. There's so much foreigners there I think it is... More

This is my first experience to stay in a Japanese onsen. I love it so much! Quiet and peaceful surrounding. We walked from Ohara bus station and clear direction along the way. Will definitely recommend to my friends.

What a wonderful surprise... we loved our stay at this traditional Japanese inn! The highlights of the Ohara Sanso are, in our opinion, its location in a quiet and serene valley outside of the the Kyoto big city bustle, as well as the food that was provided (breakfast and dinner). The room was basic, but adequate and clean. Traditional Japanese... More

I have serious doubt in my mind when I saw the beautiful pictures of the premise and the price tag of ¥17,905 for one person staying two nights, equivalent of US188 including 5% VAT. Bear in mind that breakfast and dinner are included in the price. The drawback is no bathroom or shower in the room but the public facilities... More

I got there using a direct bus from the Kyoto International conference center. It took about 15min walk from bus the station. The part of path was lighted with lanterns. I enjoyed cosmos flowers and country side view of Ohara. It is located very close to Jakkou-in Temple, the place for final chapter of the Tale of Heike, Ohara Gokou.... More
