The service provided inside is excellent. The staff is very helpful and the boss is very funny. Though there is no breakfast provided, they offered me with dessert and bread and cake all the time and gave me a detail map for the nearby breakfast place (with opening time!). On Saturday, the hotel arranged the dancing show and a chat...

We stayed in this lovely Ryokan for seven nights and took only one day trip away from Kyoto (Hiroshima). The room was huge and even without breakfast being included, the owners brought us sweets every night to the room. There was always hot and cold water available for tea or drinking. Bathroom was adequate in size and shower was excellent....

I highly recommend this ryokan if one is planning on going to Kyoto. It is in the heart of Gion. The rooms are large and clean. And the staff is so friendly. They also helped me with answering all my questions and offered recommendations even before I got to Japan. I would definitely stay here again if I went back...

Located in Kyoto Ryokan , is a very well located hotel, is not very big but is spacious enough. Full of shops and restaurants around , nice landscapes and temples to see, the location is a bit quiet , people is super friendly, and also at the hotel they take the service very very extremely serious , at the point...

The staff here are fantastic and could not more highly recommend a stay here. The location is great with plenty of great nearby restaurants which staff will help you with. Breakfast consists of bananas and a number of Japanese style microwave pastries which while sugary were nice. Having the separate large dining space (rm 305) with refrigerator and permanently boiled...

Great Ryokan in the heart of "Old Kyoto" walking distance to many temples and shrines. Large Japanese syle room with compact attached bathrooms in the evening thick sleeping pads with luxurious silk like bedding is rooled on then placed back in staorage in the morning.

I think this was the best of our Ryokan experiences. It's right in the heart of Gion - make sure you've got a map for the taxi driver. Very much a family show; plus dogs! He supports "the Buffaloes" They couldn't have been nicer to us. Meticulous and precise. Little English but not a problem. Used to do meals but...

I can't say enough about our stay at Gion Sano in Feburary - it was perfect. Trying to find a place to stay in Kyoto was a little overwhelming at first, so when my wife and I read great reviews on this hotel we thought why not. We were not disappointed. From the moment we stepped in the door we...

It is nice cozy lady that met us at the reception along with their dogs (4). She went absolutely out of her way to make you feel like home. Offered home made Sakura tea cake, free mini cup noodles and a simple breakfast basket even though none of this were supposed to be included. Chose this hotel because we wanted...

I couldn't have asked for anything better. Traveling on my own for 5 days in Kyoto only. I stayed here the entire time and it was a fantastic "home base". On a quiet street, but only 1-5 blocks from many of the activities that the Gion district has to offer: the temples, shrines, parks, the street shopping promenade, and tons...
