Very helpful staff and excellent breakfast. Rooms are small as we had three in a room, but overall a great stay in a wonderful city. Temples and markets easily reached, take a look at the weather as we found ourselves in a typhoon for 4 days of rain. It did not spoil the trip but got a bit tedious after... More

A well presented Ryoken with some nice touches, very clean and modern. Large reception area where breakfast is seved. Its a nice area to hang out in, they serve tea and beer throughout the evening, you can eat takeout etc. We have Western breakfast which was very nice, scramble eggs and ham with toast and juice. Washer and dryer available... More

We were given Japanese styled rooms and squeezed 4 people into 1 room. We were warned that it would be small. Neighborhood is quiet, abit far from the important shrines so we took taxis quite a bit. Internet is found at the lobby only so every night we would go down and update our devices. I found that experience quite... More

We stayed here for 4 nights and never wanted to leave! The staff were so helpful, they booked restaurants for us, pre ordering set meals in Japanese, gave great insights in to places they thought we might like and were extremely friendly. Both the western and Japanese style rooms were great. The place actually caters for short stays (in Sakura)... More

If you are considering this hotel, make sure you request a western style room. We stayed in a ryokan room the first two nights of our stay, and we were dissatisfied. The room was very small and there was no regular chair in the room. During our last 2 nights, we stayed in a western syle room which was much... More

The ryokan is stunning and the perfect place to come back to after a day wandering the temples and gardens of Kyoto. We stayed in a garden room, which was beautiful, but its position off the lobby did mean that we could hear late arrivers and those taking an early breakfast. This improved a little when we decided to switch... More

When u get to Kyoto, head towards the bus stop, stop by @ tourist info and get a daily bus pass only ¥500, don't bother with train and bus pass as most if not all tourist attractions are on bus route..and also u can use your JR pass still on JR routes and a number of the tourist locations are... We stayed at the Sakura in late March for 3 nights. The location is pretty central and only a 10-15 min walk from the main train station. It can be a little hard to find once you are in the street so look for a red flag out side the hotel and it is almost opposite the back of the... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and we really enjoyed it. Room is very small, but everything is very clean and modern, room very quiet. Breakfast was excellent and staff always ready to help. There is a mini-kitchen if you wish to prepare your own room and a washer/dryer downstairs if you need to do a load or two. The hotel... More

We stayed at this modern ryokan in September. Kyoto was super hot during those days--I am told it's always more so than the other cities because it's sitting in a bowl. We liked it. We were excited by the whole concept of staying in a differently styled hotel but we also liked that it had all the amenities that one... More
