This hotel was the most expensive one we stayed in during our 3 week trip to Japan and while nowhere near 5 star luxury, it was perfect for us! Our room was a western one, there was plenty of room and the beds were comfy. The hotel is quiet, even though it is very close to everything. Apart from the...

We were staying at the Japanese style room. We had stayed at a Ryokan previously so we knew what to expect. The room was big but looked like it haven't been renovated since the 80's (traditional experience doesn't mean the place shouldn't be maintained). The blankets and pillows were dusty. Staff was very nice however.

This hotel is perfectly placed for exploring Gion, in walking district of many attractions but quiet during the evening. The staff speak English and they are welcoming, courteous and efficient. The room we had was excellent, a good size and very clean with comfortable beds. We had thought of booking a traditional room that they offer but decided to stay...

One of the worst rooms I've ever stayed in. Basic doesn't even come close. You are basically paying for a basic camping experience in a box in the middle of Gion. The staff are very accommodating however paying for this level of room makes the experience painful, basically s thin mattress on the floor. Very disappointed.

As the title suggests, I don't think a more perfect location could be found in Kyoto... Just a short walk through Yasaka Shrine to the main strip Shijo-dori, Sanjo-dori and Ponto-cho, while in the evenings one can enjoy a romantic, quiet stroll through the Yasaka Pagoda area, Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka, amongst other hidden treasures until you reach kiyomizu-dera temple (which...

We stayed here in February and loved it. If you are anything like me, when trying to pick a hotel, the hours of research involved in very long and I am always so happy when everything that you read, when you arrive is correct. This hotel is excellent. We originally booked a traditional room, however it didn't really suit us,...

Don't get me wrong this hotel isn't 5 star luxury but it is honestly one of my favourite places I've ever stayed in. The staff are the best part as they couldn't do enough. They gave us umbrellas before we went out in the rain, let us know if there was any events on in the area and made sure...

We enjoyed the spacious tatami room with futon. In the evening while we were out, they prepared the futon for us. They had the traditional Japanese pillows with the buckwheat hull and the yukata pj - we loved them! The room had a separate bathroom and a deep bath tub - enjoyed the relaxing soak. The breakfast was served at...

Located in the Gion district just a short stroll from the main boulevard the hotel is bright, very clean and staff are very professional (proficient with English) and friendly. Rooms are large (compared to some other hotels we stayed in) with good bathroom and in room service. Beds excellent with good pillow options. We felt very much at home due...

I have booked a room of japanese style mixed with western style. The room was spacious, quiet and warm. But the real gem of the hotel is not about the room or view, it is about the staff!
