Hotel is very convenient if you wish to visit many different parts of Kyoto. A bus from Kyoto Station drops you off right in front of the hotel, just south of the Nijo Castle. Two metro lines and two commuter train lines are all an easy walk. The rooms are not too small and the breakfast is better than most.

We stayed here as we couldn't get a room elsewhere in the city. Actually we had 2 single rms as they didn't have a double. Quiet and on a bus route direct to the train station . Breakfast was japanese - no western options but this was ok. All ver basic. What was GREAT about this hotel was its neighbourhood location. Come out of the hotel turn left and take the first left and this LONG street goes into town. Along the way are many neighbourhood restaurants including a lovely intimate French one (we ate there 3 times) the best, most authentic Mexican I've had outside Mexico,a few others including patisserie where while they wrap your cakes they give you a sorbet to enjoy and a very cool looking bar. Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
