I stayed here with my mom and my husband in June 2016. The ryokan was clean and looked pretty close to the pictures. However, the value is just not there for the steep price you pay to stay here. We paid over $200 per person to sleep and for breakfast (no dinner was included) --- our money would have been... More

This ryokan is just amazing. The room was comfortable with all the needed amenities. The staff was just amazingly helpful and friendly. I have nothing but positive things to say. All this before I mention the food! The food was remarkable. We ate dinner twice and had the traditional breakfast each day. Well worth the stay!

I had booked a night at this ryokan well in advanced based on the reviews. Unfortunately, our flight was canceled, missed a connection, etc...couldn't make our reservation day. We were all incredibly disappointed we were going to miss the opportunity to stay here and also that $700 was about to disappear as our flight was within 24hours of our reservation.... More

We spent our first night in Kyoto here, quite straight forward to find from the station. The rooms are very basic but clean. There is a toilet and sink in each room and there are 3 shared bathrooms downstairs. Each with shower and Japenese bath. You're provided with slippers and robes to wear to the shower room. However, the most... More

I booked this Ryokan after reading previous reviews about the dinner served and I was blown away. If you are a foodie then this is a must! The chef created an 8 course master piece from local seasonal ingredients purchased that morning - the pictures speak for themselves. The Ryokan itself is traditional and very well maintained. Rooms are small... More

Firstly, be very careful about how you book a stay here. I booked mine through Expedia, and at no point was it mentioned that you had to book dinner at least 3 nights in advance. The ryokan's website doesn't make this clear either. And after all, one of the best things about this ryokan is meant to be the food!!!... More

Dear Ms. Claire P, Thank you for your stay. We mention on every booking website, of course Expedia, that guests who want to have dinner in our Ryokan need to reserve it 3days before you have. Moreover you have 2 choices whether you stay with dinner or you just stay(not having dinner in the Ryokan) when you apply for your... More

My friend pre-paid for the rooms and dinners thro agoda.com. An error was made for the dinner reservation on the 2nd night, whereby we will be returning late from a day trip/ Upon check-in, we informed that we needed to change the dinner for the 2nd night to the 3rd night. We were informed that it cannot be done, nor... More

Dear Mr./ Mrs. Mei Leng C, Thank you for your stay. We mention on every booking website, of course agoda.com, that guests who want to have dinner in our Ryokan need to reserve it 3 days before you have. My partner and I stayed for one night during our trip to Kyoto as we wanted to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan. Rooms were fairly comfortable and came with a sink and toilet. There are 3 shower rooms which are shared among all the guests. Dinner was a stellar experience, food was very interesting and nothing like what we've ever... More

I LOVED this ryokan, this was my first destination of my 18 day holiday in Japan, and by far the best!! i simply loved everything about this ryokan, it made Kyoto even more special. The best thing about Izuyasu was chef Yasujurou, we had 2 kaiseki dinner here, and as a chef, it was just so magical to experience a... More
