I book a 4 person room, the floor is tatami with a japanese style table. You have to make the bed yourself. The shampoo and soap are provided in a small packet. Overall they have every basic stuff except for hairdryer.

Stayed here for 1 night. Room was huge, and we had the experience of using Futons for a bed. Fortunately, there were 2 of us, and we were in a "4 person" room. So we we able to double up and make thicker futons. Breakfast was amazing. All you can eat buffet. Lots of veg, salad, bacon, sausages, chips, eggs,... More

We had so much fan staying at the Japanese style room with the minimal interior, the leg-free chairs, the futon and the walls. We loved to have the kimonos and to do some photo shots in them. The service is kinda limited though. And no internet in the rooms.

Close to JR station, subway, bus stops. From here you can get anywhere. Very convenient. Lawson's across the street. Also the pancake and coffee shop next to Lawson's was our go to. We really enjoyed going there. The room was spares just like the picture. We got what we expected. Mat, blanket, TV. They did have some floor chairs as... More

This hotel and it's sister hotel around the corner "Hotel Kyoto Station" are very well priced for their location just 2 blocks from the station. Stayed in a traditional Japanese style room with en suite toilet. (Used public bathing room.) Clean and simple. Proprietor very helpful. Not luxury at all but terrific location, excellent service, very clean, and unbeatable price.... More

I stayed at this hotel for one night whilst on a rail trip from Tokyo to Kyoto and Osaka. I got a good deal on this hotel for around the equivalent of £30 thanks to the discounts offered by the Japan Rail Pass. The date of my stay was actually April 2009 but Tripadvisor only allows you to backdate as... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
