The concierge team was great, they helped us with every detail of our trip (not only in Kyoto). The hotel is just one minute away from the train station. It's location couldn't be better! Plus, they helped us with all the car reservations for one-day trips and restaurants.

The hotel is located in the train station complex. Perhaps the best location in town. The hotel itself has many upscale restaurants. Most of them are very expensive. However, they provide the best food and the best service. The train station complex offers dozens of other restaurants with avert wide range of cuisines and costs. Hotel staff is very helpful... This hotel is located right on top of the Kyoto train station, so its location couldn't be better, and the view I had from my room was of the Kyoto tower making it amazing at night. The room quality was adequate and I don't have any complaints to do.

Stayed at Hotel Granvia in mid July 2016 for 3 nights. The twin worked great with a toddler. Advertised with free WiFi and it performed very well with stable connection and good speed for YouTube streaming. Nice rooms. Great view even with the basic twin room. Excellent friendly staff.

I have only stayed in a couple hotels in Japan, but this one was really nice. It was spacious, a great view of the city from the room, right on top of a transportation hub and mega mall, large taxi stand out front, a couple 7/11s downstairs, a theater next door, every kind of restaurant up the escalators... of course... A wonderful comfortable and clean hotel perfectly located for all transport links in this city. The staff are exceptionally helpful, friendly and courteous even by the normal high Japanese standards. Would always recommend this hotel to anyone - absolutely TOP class.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Granvia. The room itself was very clean and comfortable for my small family. Pro's: - Excellent location (just above the JR Kyoto Station). If it is your first time visiting (and you don't speak Japanese, the hotel is perfect. With so many places to eat/drink and buy groceries etc. Also shopping is close... More

Location is prime! Even for family visit. Well connected to train and underground. Massive hotel, well trained staff. Very friendly. Recommended. However, concierge is standard only. No personal recommendations or advise. Would be better if advise given can be less formal.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
