I stayed here only 1 night on business, but I know already I would return and extend my stay for more nights, whether I was staying for business or pleasure.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay here for four nights as we traveled independently through Japan. The hotel is elegantly appointed and provided a restful end to our days of touring. The staff spoke English well enough to make our interaction with...More

Wonderful! I loved this hotel and the staff. Everyone was so helpful when I had a question. The hotel was easy to find as it's right above the Kyoto train station and if you ask they will send you a video with the directions, which...More
Our family chose this hotel out of convenience. It's located right above the Kyoto train station as we came in from Osaka and stayed a night there.
Other than the good location and sizable rooms, there isn't much I can say about the hotel. The...More

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

We had two separate rooms where our kids each had their own bed, but our kids are older. It would be more comfortable for you and your husband to have two Queen beds. Both kids can sleep together in one bed or one adult with one kid in each bed. If cost is a prohibitive factor, then try for at least 2 full sized beds. Happy travels. You will like the hotel. Staff was very nice and it is in a good location with quick access to public transportation. If you have time, go up the escalators on the opposite side of the hotel to the very top where there is a roof garden of sorts and get a big view of the inside of station area.

This is a beautiful hotel and all rooms are incredible. I had a superior deluxe and the bathroom was beautiful with walk in shower and separate bath tub. The But no hot tub. The Choraku Suites do have jacuzzi's but these are the highest level suite and very expensive. Regular suites do not have hot tubs or juzzuci's. Trip Advisor would not allow a link, but you can go to the hotel web site for more into. Enjoy this magnificant hotel in either case. The location is also incredible. This is probably the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in - certainly in the top 3.
