Detailed Reviews

We are a family of 5 and we comfortably stayed in 2 connecting rooms. The hotel provided everything that you may need including: all bathroom essentials, guides and maps for getting around the city, and most importantly FREE breakfast! They also gave us free coins to use in the vending machines. The kids loved that! Hospitality in Japan in 2nd to none and this hotel was no exception. Excellent!

This is a new hotel therefore in very good conditions. The staff are helpful and will assist you with your traveling plans. They have plenty of connecting rooms so it's very good for families. Breakfast is slightly scarce. I do appreciate that it's not good to waste food but if they need to top up constantly they should keep an eye on the buffet. I had to wait for them to bring more food and eventually ask for it. This is not really ideal and I think they should be more careful with that.

Needed a one night emergency hotel room (got out of Tokyo a day early due to typhoon Hagibis), and Karaksa was perfect. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Room is clean, on the smaller side, but sufficient if you’re just there to sleep. Breakfast buffet was average. We paid less than $90, which to us was a steal. Ended up changing our hotel reservation for our return final night in Tokyo to the Karaska there, hopefully we will be as pleased.

Couple spent 3 nights in the hotel.
Pros:
- clean
- good location close to the public transportation
- Friendly staff specially AKITA who was very helpful
- Great large bed
- Free coffee, tea and soft drinks
Cons:
- Tiny Tiny Room..... no plce to unpack your staff. The size is a double bed, small hall and tiny bathroom not a room you like to stay in
- Tiny Tiny bathroom....
- Very basic breakfast
- Charged me Y1000 for 2 hours of early check in....when my room was already ready.
- No lobby you can seat in the dinning room but it is not comfortable
Clearly not a 4* hotel not more then clean 2.75 stars. In our case was way over priced....Corner rooms are a bit larger

The beds were very comfortable, and the personnel were extraordinary, very helpful, and kind. The personnel made traveling around kyoto so easy, comfortable and delight to come back to rest. Also, they easily set up luggage transfer, which was perfect and reliable. The breakfast especially the mangos and pancakes were delicious. It was nice that there was 24 hr availability of refreshments and soup. The location also made it easy to get to kyoto station, bus stop and ranken station. The availability of convenience stores and daiso are so close.

It is relative expensive to find a nice hotel in Kyoto and this new 3 star hotel offers small but clean and comfortable rooms in Kyoto center. Besides that, it provides simple but decent buffet breakfast for all its clients. Whatever you plan to visit Kyoto with buses or trains, it is excellent located with only several minute's walk. There are plenty of restaurants and convenient shops around the hotel as well. The most attractive offers from this hotel are free drinks and free sausages in the afternoon. The staffs are super friendly and they are ready to help whenever is necessary. In contrary to normal classic large hotels which we used to live, this hotel is really distinguished itself from others with its care to each individual customers. The only negative comments if I have maybe its small size and its kind of pre-built small bath rooms. It gives the feeling of low quality.

Very nice, clean and spacious. We reserved a 3-person "room" which ended up being two separate adjoining rooms, which was perfect for us. Goto, the young man at the front desk, was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. We had a very comfortable stay in Kyoto.

I stayed here as part of a small group tour. The rooms are small for 2 people but for the most part the design is efficient. The beds are high enough for luggage to be stored under and there are plugs everywhere for all of your devices. And really how much time are you spending in your room?
The location is great. The street the hotel is on is also Kyotos main shopping district which is about a 15 min walk or short bus ride away. You're also within walking distance of the Nishiki Market which offers a feast for the eyes (and stomach depending on your food preferences). You're also within a short walk to the station (Hankyu Railway I think) for the trolley that takes you out to the bamboo forest.
There's a small breakfast every morning which is enough to get you started on your day. And the lobby has a stand with lots of transit maps and tourist attractions in multiple languages to help you find your way around Kyoto.

We stayed for 5 nights at this hotel and it was a great decision! Compared to other hotels we stayed during our trip around Japan, I can say that the Karaksa Hotel Kyoto I was the best! The rooms are very clean, very well equipped, new and worth the price!
The rooms are small (like everywhere in Japan), but are comfortable and cosy. They offer international and usb sockets, therefore, no EU plugs are needed. Very good air condition, too!
All staff speak excellent English and are very friendly, always willing to help! We would like to especially thank Ms. Monzon for being very kind and very friendly to us, always paying attention to every detail. She also speaks great Spanish and was happy to switch language for us, which made our stay easier and smoother.
The location of the hotel is great. Bus and underground stops are just down the road, and 10 min walk to Nijo Station. The hotel is just in the Main Street, only 15 minute straight walk to the malls, shrines and attractions.
Breakfast was just right and drinks (tea, water, kalpi, etc.) are always available.
We will definitely come again!!!
Greetings to all the Karaksa Hotel Kyoto I Team!
