Great hotel and amazing city. 1. Hotel - 10 to 15min cab ride from kyoto station. (You can train and bus it but much easier to cab as a first timer). 2. Clean - no odd smell, bed sheets were clean, bathroom clean as well. 2a. Bathroom - small but practical. Shower is fairly spacious but probably for 5'9" or...

Good hotel with professional staff that made me feel welcome. Clean room. Fast check-in. Luggage storage. Possible to wash clothes. Personally I didn't like the breakfast (optional). The hotels location is perfect! There are bus stops just a short walk away from the hotel. I would not think twice about returning! Great value.

We stayed here as a family of 4 in a triple room. Room was a decent size by Japanese standards. 2 double beds and 1 single bed. The hotel is well located and the bus stop is just walk away. Bus is the way way to travel around Kyoto. From the hotel we could travel by bus to all the...

Good hotel. The location is great, on the main shopping street in Kyoto. The rooms are clean and comfortable with everything you expect. The rooms are a little small, but that seems to be normal in Japan. The breakfast buffet was very good. There's also a good WiFi.

We stayed one night last weekend, it's quiet long walk from subway station. Don't take exit 20 per hotel instruction if you travel with luggage. Hotel room is just a room, small and nothing fancy. Nearby has few dining places but we didn't try. If you will take bus to explore Kyoto, there's a bus stop, 1 minute walk from...

Many hotel rooms in Japan are small and quite expensive but this room was a decent size with good facilities. Bathroom was well stocked, good shower with plenty of hot water. The room had comfortable beds and was well sound-proofed. The air-con was a bit fierce so the room temperature had to be controlled by opening the window. However, the...

We stayed in Mystays all over Japan and this is our favourite so far. The room is bigger than the others we stayed in. Overall, the hotel looks modern and sleek. Our room is on the top floor overlooking the road to Gion and a Zen garden from the building next door. The location is unbeatable. 5 minute walk to...

MyStays is a small business hotel. As such, we were ready for it to be functional and pretty basic. However, our standard triple-bed room was good-sized, very clean and neat, with creative use of space. The room was well lit and the bathroom's deep tub could serve as an in-house onsen. The mattresses were comfortably firm, and we had 3...

Stayed here for 2 nights. Check-in very smooth and service in English is perfect. You can buy Kyoto bus passes at the reception, I would highly recommend you check that out if you plan on taking busses. I stayed in a standard twin room with my friend and the other two in my party stayed in a standard queen room....

This is a "get what you pay for" hotel in an expensive city. We are two days into a five day stay and the hotel has what we need... central location, decent bed and washer/dryer. Interior is routine. Staff is professional. Rooms are clean. If you need ambiance, pay more and get a different hotel. If you need functional, MyStays...

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
