This hotel is located right in from of the Imperial Palace and the room is good size, clean and has a great view of the palace. The staff is super nice and friendly. They have a restaurant and offer paid breakfast($10) I tried the Japanese breakfast but the portion was rather small and was OK quality. The American style breakfast... More

Older hotel, but well maintained. Rooms size small but in line with Japan standard. Very nice Japanese breakfast. Front desk staff does not speak much English but they try to help. Nice location not too far from the metro station and right in front of the Imperial Palace.

Well placed hotel offering free use of bikes and map to visit the city. Room well sized with attention to details. Personnel very friendly and the breakfast choices european/japanese were both delicious.

The hotel is in front of Imperial Palace garden which is a great place to see. Great location to all amenities. Rooms are average size but it's all good. Staff are very courteous and helpful. The only thing I would say is there's only two types of breakfast, Japanese and American. We stayed there for 5 days and we were... More

This was very good hotel. I cannot say anything but good for this hotel. I enjoyed it every bit. They had nice rooms. Mine had no view though. The staffs were helpful. They got us the bus tickets at the front. The Kyoto buses were numerous and very well run. On the last day, we did see a man dead... More

Great location across from the Imperial Palace gardens. The reception service was mixed. The first receptionist--after making repeated promises to me that should would not forget--forgot to deliver an important message to my colleague upon his arrival, and so I missed an important meeting! The receptionist who served me the most, however--Mr. Takehiro Kimura--was fantastic! Helpful, friendly, spoke excellent English,... More

What I liked about this hotel was the location. It's accessible to convenience stores, train stations, local restaurants and not to mention it's right in front of the imperial palace. I did not have a hard time finding the hotel since it's only across the imperial palace. The room is also clean and space is ok for Solo travelers or... More

I stayed in this hotel in the beginning of December 2015. I liked the central location, next to the Imperial Palace. There are two subway stations nearby, I think the most convenient was Marutamachi. The area feels very safe and very quiet a night. There ar e a couple of shrines close to the hotel as well as a convenience... More

The hotel is very well located, but in front of the Imperial Palace, unfortunately besides walking around in the garden there is little to do there. Nevertheless I later found that there is a good deal of traditional Japanese houses in the neighbourhood worth exploring and some good restaurants with young people and students. Hotel had a small double room,... More

The rooms are Slight larger then average as it is an older hotel, and have the basics you would expect. It was very nice and clean and the staff were very helpful. Located right by the Imperial palace and gardens so perfect if you are doing a tour or want to wonder around the gardens. Subway 5 minutes walk. Nearest... More

Staying in Nishijin District

Neighborhood Profile
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.
