The hotel might look grand from the outside but inside it's just a boutique hotel. Rooms are big and we booked it for the jacuzzi in the bathroom. We ordered room service which wasn't good at all. The caviar was in a plastic box, the Kobe beef was cold and not savoury. We asked for a refund on our whole order for food. In addition, we could hear the couples in the next rooms screaming because they were drunk.
Having travelled extensively throughout the world and stayed in a number of top class hotels I would say that this hotel ranks with the best. The staff were efficient, helpful, courteous and professional. The room was large and well appointed with western and traditional Japanese bed areas. The decor of the hotel was reminiscent of a top class 1930 hotel and the staff matched this with there impeccable manners and class. The harbour views were superb and there was easy access to the harbour frontage, rail stations and central Kobe. A stay at this hotel is a must for anyone visiting Kobe.
There is no doubt that this is a beautiful hotel in an amazing location. The staff were friendly and the room had such an awesome view BUT it was ruined by the fact that the room stank of cigarette smoke even though we had booked a non-smoking room. We complained upon entering the room and were told they would move us. We waited for an hour with a complimentary drink (the smallest glass or wine you could think of!) and we were showed back to the exact same room. Once the air freshener had worn off, we could still smell cigarettes. It was disguisting! We were so looking forward to this beautiful hotel but unfortunately were left very disappointed. Breakfast was delicious and the staff very friendly but the whole experience was soured by the cigarette smoke.
We stayed in an executive deluxe double room and couldn’t believe the room when we saw it. We had to double check what we paid for it as it seemed so plush and huge. It is very good value for money. The rooms are very tasteful. It was corner room with expansive views of harbour, comfy seating, comfy beds. Great toiletries, everything one could think of was offered. Wifi worked well, room was very quiet. Bath was huge and water stayed hot. Tea on offer was great with nice ceramics. Service was great. The only downside was it got a bit annoying to walk to the stations each time as it’s not so close to the stations but still ok with a 12 minute walk but transfers are needed. I think the hotel may be too small for a shuttle bus. When we arrived we were also given $100 to spend in their restaurants etc which was. Bonus. The breakfast was fine but not something I would ordinarily pay for. The hotel is part of the chain of leading small hotels of the world and this one is really great and we would stay here again if in Kobe. It is very plush and luxurious.…
We were in a group of 3 and stayed in two rooms, the superior twin and deluxe king room. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and had an impressive harbor view, particularly the deluxe king room that was a corner room. The hotel location was excellent and only took 5-10 minutes to the harborland shopping area and restaurants. We had breakfast the next morning. Both the Western and Japanes breakfast were tasty. We enjoyed the jacuzzi very much.
