This is a tough review to write. If Aioi was a restaurant it would receive a resounding '5'. The two breakfasts and dinners we had there were a visual and gastronomic delight. Served traditionally. Great experiences. The service during our two-night stay was, as you would expect in Japan, exceptional. As one reviewer has previously mentioned, the place is tired.... More

Loved this traditional ryokan, it's tough to find and a little in need of renovation but we had an amazing time. Ok so firstly as a westerner it was tough to find because the sign is only in Japanese. Basically it is right next to the dome, (the entrance is across the road from the public toilets ). It may... Our stay in October 2014 at the Aioki Ryokan in Hiroshima was extremely pleasant. It is a traditional ryokan in which you can experience an old-fashioned Japanese style guest house, quite different from a standard western-style hotel. The service was courteous, from the warm welcome to goodbye bows from reception staff. We found it without difficulty, having shown the taxi... More

One of the highlights of our trip to Hiroshima was staying at this ryokan. Travelled with 30 high school students and was able to accommodate them. Right across the street from the Atomic Dome and near the Peace Museum, this place was well located. We were able to dress in the traditional garb and eat a traditional meal. It was... More

Stayed here for three nights, spacious room with its own bathroom and with a spectacular view of the A-dome right across the street. The ryokan is very modern, clean and the staff is extremely polite and helpful, but don't expect anybody to speak much English. The structure has more of a hotel feel to it, but interior design is very... More

I made a reservation there, but there seemed to be a misunederstanding that I would be traveling with a companion. When I arrived and told them that I was traveling alone they said they could not accomodate me. I was tired and told them I would pay extra if necessary, but they emphatically said, "No". Pretty obvious that they would... More
