Great location (700m from Sapporo Station), good amount of dining options, even though some of the on-site restaurants were closed and great staff. Breakfast buffet was great - plenty of western and Japanese options. Room was spacious and comfortable and good choice of in room amenities. Loved the in room coffee
the hotel is just few blocks away from Sapporo station. it is connected directly to the underground station. very iconic.. lots of stores and restaurants nearby. breakfast, you have japanese and western options..
'Average' is probably a bit harsh, but to be absolutely honest there was nothing that stood out and made you think that that Aspect was a bit out of the ordinary - so Average. Nothing Special. Unremarkable seems to all fit. Called Grand, but unless one is thinking of the French word for 'large' (500 Rooms & huge Conference Rooms)', then one has to say there was not much that was Grand about it. Way back in the 1930s it might have been. Now I'm afraid it needs a makeover and a sizable does of TLC. Just from the outside it is not a welcoming sight, with all of the design og a Office Block about it
Keep the curtains of the old-fashioned rooms open and wake to the sight of the city commercial offices spread out before you, just past your toes. These are not rooms designed for lingering in or honeymooning, or for inviting friends to stay who are, say, over 6 foot. What this micro-hotel lack in size, décor, service and style, it makes up for in the superb location. Centrally situated in close proximity to JR Tower, Sapporo Station and the subway, it is ideal for travellers keen to get up, out, and take on Sapporo. An abundance of excellent restaurants and shopping are a short stroll away including Paseo Mall, Daimaru Department Store and Tokyu Department Store Food Court. Truly an old-world ambience that transport guests back in time. This is the true truth as I say it as it is……
First time visiting Sapporo and so glad we made the choice to stay at the Sapporo Grand Hotel. I always like staying at old hotels, and the Grand was celebrating 85 years. The hotel, established in 1934, is very comfortable and modernized. The room was very spacious and we liked being on the top floor - perfect spot for watching it snow over the former government building. Excellent location and walking distance to everything … including the Sapporo Snow Festival activities. Breakfast options were great and the free flow of Hokkaido Milk was greatly appreciated. The staff are friendly and very much accommodating. Highly recommend this hotel and look forward to a return visit.
Sapporo Grand hotel is centrally located 10 minutes walk from the central train station and 5 minutes from the ODORI park for the Snow Festival in February. All the walking can be done in underground streets. Breakfast is a good combination of Japanese and western food.
Loved the lobby of this place, great for big groups and close to the Sapporo Tv Tower. Has Train access on the basement floor. It is great for big groups, has a starbucks in the building and the breakfast options are great!
The hotel is in a wonderful location! I appreciated the entrance from the Odori walkway when I first arrived off the JR train from the airport. Beds were comfortable, rooms clean, staff attentive. Could not fault it! Loads of food options. Especially enjoyed the jazz band at restaurant 1934. Close proximity to the Clock Tower, Sapporo Tv tower and odoriferous Park. Be sure to visit the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art. It’s a gentle 23 minute walk away and currently hosts a private collection of modern masters such as never before seen works of Matisse, Roualt, Picasso, Chagall to name a few! I will definitely return! Below is a photo of the Odori walkway entrance.
Dear sir We are so impressed with the services level of 2 staff - Ms Sara Shimbori and Mr Shigesato Nakano . Ms Sara Shimbori - strong woman ! She carried all our bags and was so warm . In our culture we let the man do the carrying , we felt bad letting a lady carry our bags and very heavy ones due to our ski gears. She does it swiftly and with a smile and ease. Amazing . Ms Shimbori she is also like a doreamon that Has every answer to everything ! And fast! And she prepares and help us to go to restaurants , directions, a very conscientious and expert in her area. We are very grateful to all her recommendations which is exactly what we wanted. Listening to customers is very important. Thank you so much Ms Shimbori ! Another person we want to highlight and thank is Nakano san . Yesterday morning I dropped one of my earrings into the face washing basin . Is a pink sapphire earring with diamond. I was very upset , and my hubby and I look underneath the sink and think 🤔 is likely gone. Is my favourite earring I have for many years. When I went down To explain the situation not many of the counter know what I am trying to explain . Mr Nakano patiently trying to understand what I am saying . And he fixed everything for me . This must be a difficult task. He steadfastly assisted and I was very delighted when there was instruction there to ask me to pick up the item. Dear Mr Nakano , thank you for doing this for me and I really so happy to recover my favourite earrings. It means so much to me. The whole experience is so wonderful for both of us. Please take good care and treasure this 2 staff and groom them. They have the calibre to become managers. Also the hotel is located in such a great location that is so convenient. The weather is cold and we can literally walked in the linked walkway. Thank you to the team for bringing us this unforgettable experience. We will be back for sure. …
This was our first trip to Sapporo and we booked ourselves at Sapporo Grand Hotel as it was highly rated on Tripadvisor. We took the bus from Chitose Airport which stops directly outside the hotel so it was convenient for us as we had quite a number of luggages. The hotel location was very convenient as it was only 10min walk from Sapporo Station. The room was a bit dated however the hotel made up for it with its excellent service. We would like to thank Ms. Akiko Okansihi who was excellent in helping us make alternative ski reservation as the original ski resort we booked had cancel our reservation due to the weather. Everyone from the front desk to the concierge was extremely helpful thus making our stay much more comfortable and enjoyable!
