Only good things to say. Hospitality, room, food all fantastic. The private bath was a big bonus, not being used to public baths and all.... The set dinner was to die for... I should have eaten less of the first few dishes and saved space for the beef and crab at the end! So big tip... Wait for the delicacies!

We love Onsen here. There are both public and private to choose. Also indoor and outdoor. We bought package from Sapporo which include bus and Onsen. Worth of money to enjoy quiet Onsen and escape from busy city. Definitely I would like to be back to stay in traditional Japanese style here.

I wanted to find a quiet place to settle down after arriving in Hokkaido and this place has been beyond my expectation . It's a lovely quaint place that gives me a throwback to a traditional Japan. We booked a room that has Both a sitting area and a sleeping area , traditional Japanese style and it was bigger that... More

Jozankei is so close to Sapporo that it is technically within the city limits. Yet it is like a calm village in the mountains. Furukawa is one of the largest ryokans in the area. It has a nice, big onsen bath, delicious food, a lot of nice lounges filled with books and old furniture, huge rooms and entertainment (storytelling, ainu... More

The place is very good (in front of the canal), amenities too. specially liked the apples hot spring. And the baked pastry of the breakfast But the staff at the front were not very nice, specially one of the women. Plus they charged us a crazy fee for parking, even the place was almost empty (weekday). And no wifi in... More

My family and I (4 adults) stayed in the Japanese styled room. It has a toilet only and no shower area. You can hire a private bath area. The baths (onsen) for the male and female would interchange as the views in each one is different. There is also a special one with a 100 years history in the basement... More

I was there for a day trip onsen. The hotel is a traditional style ryokan and onsen. Although I was impressed with the atmosphere and its decoration; however, the staff service made me disappointed. They seemed to neglect customers maybe because they were quite busy from the group tour. Nonetheless, their onsen are great, with both indoor and outdoor hot... More

Our recent stay at Furukawa Jozankei was truly enjoyable ! Not only was the decor (mainly wooden) traditional Japanese in subtle elegance, all service staff friendly and cheerful, the Kaiseki dinner was really delicious ! We had a spacious Japanese/Western room with tatami sitting area plus twin beds and were delighted to find a massage chair as well. The big... More

Was on a one-day tour to the Jozankei. There are tons of onsen to choose from. However, for japanese onsen you would only go to male onsen and there isn't any way that you can spend the time with your loved one. Hiring a private onsen becoming a need. Just browse around and found that this hotel is very nicely.... More
