This is the worst 5 star I have ever been to. I'm not sure why it's called a 5 star. It is rather a 2.5 star. This is only because the staff were very nice and helpful. The building and facilities are very old and tired. Room quality is abysmal with patch and paint work very visible. It smelt badly and the toilet was in a very poor state with instructions on how to flush it. I could see dirt up the ceiling, lying down from my bed. It was an unbelievably poor experience and I had to leave after one night and cut short my 5 night stay to find a better place to lay my head. I chose Sofitel because I have been to other Sofitel hotels and know the quality they provide. Unfortunately I had just arrived from one 5 star hotel and this felt like a nightmare. If you plan to visit the Sofitel at Renmin Square in Xi'an, then think again. If you just want somewhere with a good location and don't care about 5 star services then ignore this review.…
Excellent service and very nice people from all the stuff at 11 floor sofitel in special Jennifer for be friendly with us. FOOD AND drinks very good quality, room very clean, I will back for sure. Location perfect.
Excellent service from the staff on 11th flour. First time to Sofitel Xi’an renmin square, nice start of our trip to Xi,an. Late checkin in but warm welcome. Room upgrade, free access to the execute lounge
Good hotel in a very central part of Xian and close to all attractions within the city wall. Nice big room with a good view of the city. Good breakfast and friendly staff. However, a few things could have been better : (1) Our room was generally quite warm. Indeed the weather outside was between 34-37 degrees centigrade, but we noticed the room quite warm also in the evening/night. Maybe there was something wrong with the a/c system (2) Breakfast...I would expect a hotel like Sofitel to have fresh juices for breakfast. There was only one fresh juice (cucumber)...the rest packet type juice. I would also expect that arriving for breakfast at 9.30 am would not mean that most of the dishes at the buffet breakfast would be empty. (3) We had club benefits during the stay. We did not use this except once for the so-called “high tea”. This was just drinks/tea/coffee and an extremely poor selection of tiny 2cm cakes (there were only a handful of these), biscuits and some fruit. If this was “high tea” then I cannot imagine what “low tea” would have been :) So, all in all, good stay....but I expected much better at a Sofitel…
The room was great and comfortable. The food from room service very good. The staff were kind and helpful and spoke good English. Great to walk within the city walls from. Willing to help book tours for the Terracotta Army and other sites in xian.
My wife & I stayed in Sofitel Xi'An for 2 nights. The hotel provided a nice Sofitel level service and made us feel comfortable during the stay. And, what is more important, we lost our wedding rings in room by mistake and realized it after check-out. Bad feeling! We tried to contact Sofitel and look for help. The staff in hotel was so great that house keepers'd found it and submitted to hotel already! What a excellent team Sofitel have in Xi'an! Thank you Sofitel Xi'an.
I had a buffet breakfast here last week and it was amazing! Wide variety of scrambled eggs, fried eggs, omelets, fruit in syrup, dried fruit, fresh fruit, juice, milk, chocolate coffee, yogurt, cheese, mortadella, salami, sausage and many other from French cuisine such as croissant also specialties from Chinese cuisine like noodles, vegetables, pudding and deserts. The temptation came and of course I try a bit of everything! The service was impeccable with a great team of staff to serve guests very well! My experience was the best possible! Congratulations Sofitel breakfast team. It's a great breakfast!
We stayed here 5 nights. Nice location downtown in a posh 4 hotel complex. We (2 adults, 1 teenager) were upgraded to a two bedroom suite - thank you! Comfortable accommodation, a little jaded, well stocked minibar, good breakfast (my Chinese partner not so impressed), disappointing dinner buffet, good Chinese restaurant opposite. Service was attentive, if sometimes a little amateur but always with good intent and some nice touches. Public areas lacked atmosphere but that is now typical post-COVID.
I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel, and I love it! The location is great! the hotel rooms are big, clean and housekeeping was very attentive (the one on my floor also speaks a little bit of English). The breakfast was full of choices (a lot for vegetarian too) and everything very tasty! The front office staff was also very good, helpful and friendly! Concierge Leo solved all my sightseen douts in a perfect English! Very good hotel!
Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Helpful and english is good- all try very hard. Housekeeping were great and in our suite had a washing machine so they lent us a drying rack. Offered turn down and extra towels at any time. Azur breakfast was plentiful and hot (when meant to be). To celebrate our anniversary we received a bottle of wine in the room and upgrade to the suite. Was beautiful. Only strange downside for us is the hotel bars closed early; lobby at 8:30 and the Japanese bar closed too although advertised late. After a long day we preferred to drink in the bar quiet rather than head out into a busy city. The other hotels on complex had bars but the weather was torrential so didn’t want to venture out. I’d stay again definitely if we visit Xi’an in the future.
