This hotel ,while ,as others have said," may be a little older" , was very nice. The rooms and the beds were comfortable by Chinese standards ( they seem tp prefer their beds on the firm side). It was situated on a river with parklike walks along the shores. At night the shoreline is lit with colored lights and the hotel was lit as well with lights along the rooflines, making the sight quite a remarkable at night. The breakfast was pretty standard for the tourist hotels with both western and chinese fare. Directly across the river there are several $ and $$ restaurants. These were recommended to us by our guide. If you go around the hotel, along the road on the right side (facing the hotel) , you come to a walkway. Go right, and you come to what looks like a concession stand with stairs next to it. Those stairs take you to the path to the top of the karst you see from inside the hotel. The last 50 meters are pretty taxing and there are some narrow parts of the path, but unless you are phobic, you can do it if you try. The view is worth it. The view from just below the summit is also worth the trip up. There's just something about reaching the top! We booked through China Discovery in Chengdu. We found all the hotel booked by them to be very good. Sometimes the location was a little walk away from the center of activity. We had a guide and driver, so we really didn't notice being away from the middle of things. …
Big and spacious rooms, great location near the town center. However the locker was not working ...neither the housekeeping team nor security team knew how to get it open. Food was average, better to eat out in town.
The hotel is located a little out from center of Guilin. Its the only hotel on our tour which had a swimming pool. I thought breakfast there was poor. My fellow travelers made more of it than me. Room ok good view, but wife complained that the bed was very hard.It cost about 1pound 50 p for a taxi to center.I asked for a drink at 2100 hours and was told to go out of hotel as bar was closed. I was after a coke. Teas made in room but no milk. Guilin has lots to see, Reed flute cave, elephant trunk hill, tour around part of town by boat, a big shopping area in the middle of town. From Guilin we took Li River cruise which was absolutely mind blowing to Yangshuo about 4 hours. Amazing scenery.
The hotel is located in a beautiful lake area away from the hustle and bustle of the business district. But within walking distance to the shopping malls. The rooms are a little dated but do offer some comfort and a good night sleep.
Quiet location. Quite big hotel. Room standard good for China. Clean. Room 329 quite unimpressive view towards back alley and mountain wall. The breakfast is OK. Close to the river and greenery so good change to polluted cities.
