Beautiful lobby with huge, ornate, hand-carved furnitures, and statues. Rooms are very clean and beds are comfortable. Hotel is close to the river and park on one side; and the other side is close to shopping. We walked to an open fruit market selling exotic fruits like dragon fruit, mangosteen, passion fruit and wampee. Staff is very helpful and friendly. We needed a knife to cut our dragon fruits and they delivered to our room within minutes. Breakfast buffet is fair and offers a nice assortment. It does have 2 popular local dishes: hot oil tea and Guilin rice noodle.
Stayed here for one night with a Wendy Wu tour. It is in a pretty area by the river but unfortunately, we arrived around 10 PM and left early the next morning so could not take advantage of it. Room amenities have large walk-in shower, bulk shower gel, shampoo, toothbrush with paste, comb, safe and small refrigerator. Unlike many European hotels, it does have washcloths. The bed was also firm. We folded the comforter in two and slept on that to soften it. Free wifi but facebook, google, news, and any search engines are blocked in China. Two complimentary bottles of water are given as locals and tourists alike cannot drink the water. A kettle for boiling water is available for water to rinse out your toothbrush. You could drink the water if you boiled it but it doesn't taste that good. Staff spoke little English. Included were a drink ticket for every person which included a beer or soda at the bar. Included western breakfast was a nice selection of food with an omelette station. Eastern breakfast was served on another floor. Nice, attractive lobby. There is a swimming pool but I didn't even get a chance to see it. Clean. View of older apartments from our room. Quiet.…
Located relatively far away from the city centre but close to a very nice lake - opportunity to have a nice walk around the lake. There is however yet another, bigger lake in Guilin, with beautifuly iluminated pagodas - must see in the evening while in Guilin. By the way, Guilin is not very attractive during the day, looks much better in the evening. I recomend to have a stroll along the river. Local are singing, dancing, having fun in a very friendly way. The hotel itself is very chinese in terms of design and breakfast - not many international dishes. View from my room was not very nice. Everything worked properly, so I can't complain really.
It's always the details that trip a place up. Nice location close to the river. Good size room. Ok breakfast. But when the keys need to be reprogrammed, safe didn't work, TV on the blink, and the swimming pool empty (in the summer!), then it loses points.
Stayed in this hotel for one night on short business trip.Only plus point of this hotel is its location ...right in the center of downtown...I stayed in 3rd floor...view from the room was worst possible....breakfast spread was average. There was some noise from outside entire night which was quite disturbing
