First time staying at this location, we were very impressed with the facilities and how well the campground was maintained. Also loved the amount of space between campsites (not being on top of each other is always a plus). Bathhouses other than the one at the top pool were very clean and up to date. The restaurant was a bit pricey but food was decent. Overall a nice family campground. We will be staying again soon.

We stayed during the winter when most amenities are not in operation. The campground itself is fine and the sites are okay. We have a 43' motorhome and could just fit both motorhome and car into our site, but we were in good shape. Everything such as water, sewer, and electricity worked as expected. We were told wifi was an additional charge, so we skipped the wifi.

Forest Lakes needs to be updated and spruced up! This location is not appealing. The playground needs to be cleaned up and attractive for little children for family fun. The upper pool by the lodge needs the towels are placed inside the pool. The lodge needs to be updated. It is very dirty and dandy. I will complement the food in the lodge and the staff they were very friendly. The golf cart was available for rental as promised when renting the cabin. The cabin air condition went out and maintenance was called and they could not fix it or would not fix it that night so that was one sweaty night in the middle of July. The golf course looks like it be in 30 years ago. We were there for a birthday for my sister and it looked exactly as it did 30 years ago. Please updateThis location so it is more inviting family friendly. There is not a lot to do!

We are currently staying at Forest Lake in a cabin for the week. We paid nearly a $1000.00 for the rental, and it’s is TERRIBLE! There was one serving spoon, and limited cookware that is the quality of what someone wound pick up from the trash pile. There are mouse droppings along the edges, the water heater is inky 4 gallons and no one can take a warm shower, as it goes cold within 4 minutes. The amenities are a joke, no one around to check out equipment like horseshoes or ping pong balls, we had to go purchase our own. The game room is locked most of the time and can’t be used, and no one answered the office phone when we called about it. The miniature golf is a mess, also can’t be used. Even the microwave front glass is about to fall out, and the TV doesn’t even work and cat be watched, and the WiFi is a joke. The TV is just pixelated mess. They are charging astronomical prices for subpar quality and service. Hotel 6 wound be better than this.

It's well maintained and looks like the large loop in the C section was graded since the last time we were here a year ago...not nearly as bumpy anymore, except one small area. Most of the sites are spacious and level, at least the ones we've stayed on. It's a quiet campground and mostly busy on the weekends. The staff are very helpful and professional. We filled up our propane tank and the office was closed by the time we were done. They were okay with us paying later over the phone. Speaking of propane, the propane filling area is really hard to maneuver into in a big Class-A. The dumpsters are within the turning radius, as well as the concrete medians that used to be for the dump station. We had a devil of a time getting to the propane station. Also, getting out is a very tight turn for large rigs. There is a corner that could be filled in with gravel to even out the pavement with the ground which would make it easier. The campground has started charging for packages that you receive there. There are 2 laundry rooms, each with 4 sets of machines that use the CSC credit card reader to operate the machines...you can also use quarters. There is some construction currently happening on the property. The water pressure is good and the water tastes good, too. It's close enough to Lexington or Mocksville for groceries, shopping or dining out.

We checked in to this campground on August 7 and we have since had to relocate once because of a faulty breaker at our site. I was informed by a couple that 2 weeks prior they had an electrical issue with that site as well. The bathrooms are only cleaned once a day and most of the time they are in very poor condition and many times when you go to use them there is no toilet paper in the stalls. My wife literally had to go to the door and crack it and yell to me sitting on the golf cart to go to the men’s room to find her some toilet paper because there was none in the women’s bathroom. Today when we were riding cart and stopped at one to use the bathroom when I went in there was none in the men’s and my wife had to go to the women’s and get me some. This is unacceptable and very poor management and maintenance.

From all appearances, with the exception of one or two staff members, the staff and more importantly the management does not care about the safety of the campers that come here. Vehicles and golfcarts routinely drive in excess of the posted 5mph (some clocked at over 20mph), including at least one ranger; dogs are frequently seen off leash and uncontrolled, at times fighting with other dogs as fellow campers walk their dogs on leash. Repeated reports to the office have gone un-heard, and do not seem to be addressed as it is the same offenders every time. The bottom line is that many of the "rules" are not enforced, or even cared about by management, creating a very un-safe environment for everybody.
The pools are green and filed with algae and trash. As I understand it there are severe maintenance problems with the pools and many of the campers don't believe the pools will open on time.
There are also rumors that a new director has said that the campground will not allow bands this summer, either campground sponsored or privately funded, and that all campground sponsored or supported activities, including the restaurant, will shut down by 8pm during the summer to support a more "family friendly" environment.
Overall, this used to be a great place to bring your family and socialize with other campers, now it feels more like a money pit where the environment doesn't live up to the promises of "Thousand Trails".
We have already made our travel plans for the summer, and this park is no longer on our list.

We had a very terrible experience for the week we stayed. It was our first stay and we will never return. Upon leaving, the harassment from the staff continued via social media and private messages. Completely unprofessional. The campground lacked operable amenities for the amount we paid to stay. Activities were canceled and food we ordered was burnt and inedible. Pool was closed on the 4th, TV in the clubhouse was inoperable. Went to play putt putt and had to stop early due to swarming yellow jackets in the course and snake eggs everywhere. Saw several staff members but nothing was kept clean or orderly. No one had passion or enthusiasm at the few activities that weren’t canceled. We felt like an inconvenience to everyone that we were there. Clumps of hair and huge bugs floating around in the pool. Popping and overheating gas golf cart rental. No games or activities in the clubhouse, couldn’t play putt putt, several of the laundry machines were broken. Someone came and removed our personal laundry from the dryer after only 30 minutes of us using it - we had to pick up our laundry from the bug infested floor. No where to purchase laundry detergent or a simple toothbrush - but the shop has 25 bottles of fabric softener. Harassed by staff in multiple occasions while we were there and after we left early. Staff was beyond rude and unprofessional. Gate was left wide open for anyone to enter the campground on the weekend without a code. Just pure madness at our expense of time and money.

We booked a lakeside cabin over July 4th week and left early. There was nothing to do; not enough natural space (very tiny lake and a hidden gazebo in the woods); almost no activities planned (weird, boring golf cart "parade" and trivia with phone-googling cheaters); the common spaces were filthy; the cabin was run down, hot, had no working locks, and rotted boards all over the patio; and the cabins are right up on each other.
Granted, the staff we encountered were all very nice. We did not complain and tried to enjoy ourselves, but couldn't. So we ended up packing up and going home a day early.
Begging Thousand Trails to give this location the funds needed to keep up their few amenities (mini gold was dangerously mossy and rotted), update their cabins (appear to have not been touched since the 80s), and hire an activity director. I grew up on Thousand Trails (Chesapeake Bay and Williamsburg). I don't understand why this location is not getting basic upkeep, amenities, and activities. Their staff obviously seem to care - they all seem very passionate about their jobs and like they're great people. Why not give them what they need to thrive?

Yes, they will show you the sites that are available. You can leave your camper near the gate and ride around to see which one you would like and then let them know at the gate the one you chose and that's it.
