The good points about this stay near Lake Baikal were firstly the excellent service provided by the owners who spoke English fairly well and were very accommodating. They provided a taxi service into Lysvyanka for 200r and to Irkutsk for 2000r a useful laundry service and basic meals. The hotel was uniquely decorated with a million interesting items. There was... We actually travelled summer 2012 as part of the Trans-Mongolian experience but have only just got down to writing this review. We loved Hotel Nikola - tucked away on the road to Listvyanka among beautiful woody landscapes, we'd recommend it to anyone. Take a marshrutka (minivan) from Irkutsk for 100 roubles and stop at Nikola village. Worth calling the hotel... More

We stayed for 3 nights at Nikola as part of a Trans-Mongolian trip. The village itself is about 7km from Listvyanka. Don't let that put you off though as it's only a couple of hours walk along the lake to get there or a 10 minute ride on the very cheap bus. As we visited out of season it didn't... More

Amazing place tucked away in the hills by the mouth of the Angara. The room was warm and cosy, with a convenient lavatory, but the shower is a fair distance away. We ate breakfast and dinner there since there isn't much else available. There is a very small shop five minutes away with a selection of bread and cheese. Even... More

It's a nice place with beautiful landscape, especially in Autumn.we were there mid. of Sept. we are the only guest in the hotel. We've got a warm welcome. in front of this small hotel, a new one is operated now. The room is ok, but no kitchen available, but only a microwave. We need to go down to a small... More

Just stayed two nights in Nikola and had a wonderful experience. I speak Russian and as such I haven't tested the owners' English language, but prior to my trip I've exchanged a few emails/texts with Anastasia in English and it worked out fine. The family that runs this hotel is very warm and welcoming. They've been very helpful in recommending... More

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Nikola for two nights while travelling through Russia and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Rather than staying at a hotel, feels more like you are staying at a homestay or guesthouse because Anastasia, Igor and Olga are so welcoming and accommodating. However, we still felt like we had the... More

Nikola is a traditional village on the banks of the Angara river, 2km from Lake Baikal. This little hotel is really just a magical homestay with Olga and Igor. There is a great little common room with a bar and Igors musical instruments, where Olga serves tasty home cooked food, delicious dinners and huge breakfasts, and a 'present' bottle of... More

We stayed 6 nights at Hotel Nikola, 2 more than originally planned because we liked it so much. Olga's cooking is delicious, we ate at the guesthouse every night but one, when we went somewhere to watch sunset over the lake but the food was nowhere near the standard of Olga's. Igor is a keen ice diver, and came out... More

Hotel Nicola combines the feel of a home-stay with the privacy of a hotel, staying here was a highlight of our trip. Hotel Nicola is situated on a hill above the quaint Siberian village of Nicola overlooking the Angara river where it joins Lake Baikal. About 5 kl outside of Listvyanka, there is a bus stop on the main road... More
