Our hotel "Lazurny bereg". In walking distance, in 2 minutes, is one of the largest hydropower plants in Russia - the Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station. From there there is a stunning view from two sides, on the one hand it is the Baikal reservoir, on the other - the Angara River. For evening walks, the Angara River Embankment is just perfect, fresh air and a beautiful view will not leave indifferent! If you walk 200 meters a little further, you can look at the Icebreaker-museum "Angara". The first and only icebreaker that survived to our days, which cruised Baikal more than 100 years ago. 5 minutes from the hotel is the airport, in 3 minutes - the exhibition complex - Sibexpocentre. Also, within walking distance of many small shops and large supermarkets.

We 2 senior citizens reserved 4 nights in that hotel, as a stop of our travel with the trans Siberian train. Planning to visit Irkutsk and the Baikal. In the details of the reservation form was written that there is a deposit box in the room and Wi-Fi, two essential items for us. First there was not a deposit box and second the Wi-Fi, was available only for Russian phones, that clearly contradicted our deal. In the information we got before the reservation the issue of the location was concealed. The hotel is located in a no where, and has not any quality to compensate it. The location is on the way to the Biykal, suits groups for a over night sleep on the way to baykal. There is not a lift and you have to drag your luggage on the stairs, the view from the room was a back yard of an industrial area, the breakfast was poor. On the entrance to the hotel was a large sign "Friendly to Chinese" , well most of the tourists here are chinese, but not all of them. In the reception they hardly knew a word in basic English . Well ,after a few hours we left the hotel , the reception was honest enough to charge us only for half a day , called us a taxi and we drove to look for another hotel.

The location is not very good in terms of going out into the city in the evening since it is almost out of the city very close to the airport next to the gas station. The hotel complex was originally a sauna wıth the hotel rooms, but the owners have built one more building next to it which is more decent... still it has some shade of weekend entertainment place, but mainly outside than inside the rooms. In general if one is not interested in this kind of time spending it is very possible to stay in this hotel as well. Value for money is perfect. The rooms are nice and well equipped. There are slippers, bathrobes shower gel and so on in the rooms. Wi-Fi works very well, the TV is ok, there is even shower cabin with the radio. 24 hours room service. One can chose breakfast out of the sevaral options. The staff is helpful and nice.

One can jeopardise all the efforts the other have made. That happened to me here. There was one extremely rude girl in charge of the restaurant on 7 Jun 2013 while I stayed. I have never seen that level of rudeness in a place called a 'hotel'. When I went there In the morning for a breakfast, first she pointed the location of the menu with her tin with showing an annoyed face, and when I asked for a menu, she started making really an annoyed face and started repeating Russian words with hitting the menu with a pen. At night, after the manager of the hotel arranged the dinner for me, again she was there. Totally ignored me and did not show any table. I asked for a water and kept repeating "excuse me" in Russian, but she was just talking over her mobile phone and ignored me although she looked at me in the mirror. I just left the place without having a dinner. There should be a level of humiliation one can take. The other stuff of the hotel are very good and helpful. The hotel should have not hired that kind of shameless girl and she should have been in a cheap bar or somewhere which she deserves better. The entire goodness and experience staying at this hotel was ruined by this one specific rude girl at the restaurant.
