This review is long over due. If you would like to stay in an original, modern and yet authentically Russian setting, Alexander House is for you. Denise was amazing, and I would like to thank him for his wonderful hospitality, he truly made my stay special with his tips and giving his vacation time to give me a brief walk with such interesting stories, thank you. Don’t stay in a cookie cutter commercial hotel you can stay anywhere, go for an authentic experience. This place is close to the Marinsky Theater also gives you a choice to walk inland toward the coast, giving you a chance to explore the off beaten path and not just tourist spots, 15 minute walk to the Winter Palace. I highly recommend the Copenhagen as a cozy room choice on the top floor.
It is always a pleasure to stay at Alexander House. For this trip I took the deluxe Helsinki room and was not disappointed with the spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated "Finnish" style. The staff are all exceptionally well trained, friendly and helpful. Since the purpose of my trip was to attend "The White Nights Festival" at the Mariinsky Theatre the location is perfect. This hotel is absolutely first class.
The location is very convenient, in particular for Mariinsky Theater; rooms are quiet, cozy and sparkling clean; the staff speaks English (in case you don't speak Russian). I will definitely come again
I would recommend Alexander House to anyone visiting St Petersburg. I was travelling alone and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or more helpful - organising transfers and taxis, printing out maps, providing local information. Communication on email always quick, clear and friendly. Also, LOVELY hotel - large, elegant communal area upstairs, a good cafe/bar, fantastic buffet breakfast and lovely bedroom. Very comfy bed, immaculately clean, well supplied. On a pretty canal, short walk from Mariinsky Theatre. Would - will! - definitely go back.
I was happy to return to Alexander House after a fabulous stay last year. The staff are most welcoming and helpful and you are made to feel at home immediately. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable, and the breakfast is worth a trip to St Petersburg alone. I was in the city for the Mariinsky theatre which a short and easy 10 mins walk. I had feared poor weather in February and was prepared to spend much of the trip in doors, thankfully I was able to enjoy the sights but the alternative of spending time in the lounge with a good book would have been a pleasure. I am very much hoping to return again in the near future.
This hotel is fantastic: room are very accurately designed and spacious. Our room had a wonderful view on the Trinity cathedral. Breakfast was delicious and freshly made everyday; we had dinner once and we enjoyed as well the food in the restaurant. The hotel is perfectly located to explore the city and the staff is very helpful and ready to satisfy every request or need for help. We had a wonderful time in St Petersburg and we HIGHLY recommend to stay at the Alexander House. Thanks for everything!
After just returning from a trip to St Petersburg, I felt compelled that I just had to inform other fellow travellers about the little gem of a hotel ~ 4* Alexander House. From the minute that we stepped into the building to when we got into the taxi for our return journey to the airport, one is made to feel so very special. Almost like being family. Nothing was too much trouble ~ the staff incredibly helpful , personable and so very helpful. Necessary phone calls on our behalf made: taxis booked: guidance with map reading and various good recommendations made. The Aleander being a Boutique Hotel was an incredibly interesting place to stay. Beautiful library, an interesting lounge with enormous log fire and likewise in the dining room/bar area. Our room and bathroom were spacious ~ full of character and spotlessly clean. Facilities excellent. Probably the only negative comment that I can make is that I felt that an anti slip mat should be placed in the large shower. If, and I hope so, I ever have the opportunity to visit St Petersburg again, I would not have the slightest hesitation in booking to stay at Alexander House. Thank you to all iof you for a most memorable stay.…
This place is just so good! It had the feel of home and the rooms had the luxury of a five star hotel! Honestly. The stay was beautiful. It was relaxing and met exactly what we wanted. Quiet, clean, beautiful interior, fantastic breakfast and lovely people!! The concierge, Dennis, was extremely helpful. Everyone spoke well enough english. The view from our room is great! The weather wasn’t fantastic when we went to Saint Petersburg but this didn’t stop us from enjoying everything! Honestly, the bathrooms are also amazing. They’re massive and glad they have a bidet! Weird way to end this but, We would love to come back and try the other rooms! We had Cologne, which was newly renovated. Absolutely beautiful and just chic! I reccommend this place for anyone looking for a self-indulgent place to stay, THIS IS IT!…
Situated down a quiet side road and over looking the canal, this is a lovely boutique Hotel. We were warmly welcomed (literally!) with a glass of cinnamon and apple drink, delicious! Our room was on the ground floor overlooking a courtyard which no doubt in the Summer looks lovely. It was a very spacious room with all facilities. Meals were served in a old styled room with an open fireplace which at night was lit. We had Dinner one of the evenings and the dishes chosen were served fresh, very tasty and well presented. There was also plenty to choose from at Breakfast too. All the Staff were very friendly and helpful, giving advise from Restaurants to taxi services. Thank you for making our stay very special!
We enjoyed our stay at Alexander House. Three things made it special for me: characterful spacious rooms, fabulous canal-side location, and delightful staff with a positive and friendly attitude. Our group had 2 rooms and both were comfortable and beautifully serviced. We arrived from rainy Novgorod and immediately felt at home from the warm welcome. AH is close to public transport and an easy walk to shops and attractions such as the Marinsky Theatre. The concierge provides a great service for advice on transport and attractions. One thing not quite as good - the food was not at the same standard as other aspects of AH. The breakfast pastries were chewy, limited fruit variety, sugary flavoured yoghurts etc. The dinner menu was OK but it was limited and the quality of meals good, but not great. But overall we were so happy with AH; it enhanced our experience of one of the world's famous cities. I would definitely recommend AH and will return if I'm back in St Petersburg.…
