Everything about the Belmond Grand was exceptional the quality of food and the beautiful Christmas decorations. Breakfasts are wonderful everything you could possibly want, the cafe bar had extremely slow service, but to be honest we found the service slow everywhere in Russia, but as we were on holiday it did not matter, perhaps if on business you would find it a problem. Russia overall both Moscow and St Petersburg was truly exceptional, especially the train journey from Moscow to St Petersburg. Both cities were free of the kind of litter we find at home, everything appeared to run on time and the Metros have to be seen to be believed.

The weather was terrible - cold and rainy, instead of the snow and minus degrees we were hoping for. Apart from that we loved everything about St Petersburg. Grand Europe Hotel is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and restaurants. You can walk to most interesting sights. But it is worth travelling by underground since the stations are as beautiful and interesting as anything above ground. The hotel feels very special and matches the atmosphere of the city. I think our room was standard and was fine but not outstanding. The entrance, lobby bar and restaurant, however, are amazing. Breakfast is expensive and we only had it once but it was worth it just for the experience. If you were really canny, you could make your breakfast brunch and skip having to buy a lunch that day. St P tip which we received and was useful is agree on a price before you get in a taxi and don't accept the meter price. We only took one taxi but agreed on1000 rubles when the driver started off at 2000.

The overall experience of this place was very positive: the location is good, right on the Nevsky prospect, Great view from the room: beautiful Savior on the Spilled Blood. Room service, most of the dishes I tried was also very good. Dry cleaning was made in time and properly. The feeling inside is good and the flowers decoration at the entrance was marvelous. I liked it a lot, that the floor in the bathroom was warm and the towels was there for better feeling. I would consider it as a 5 rated hotel, only a few things really disappointed me: - in this luxury 5 star hotel the guests should leave a deposit. This is funny: a deposit. Like in 90th in the 3 star hotel in Turkey or Egypt. Like customers are already suspected on not to pay the bill for mini bar or laundry . And, when I refused to leave deposit, they went to my room to clear the minibar: to take away chocolate bars and bear, that they should want to sell to customers! And the service lady refused to bring laundry to the room unless I will go down and pay it (tell them about the credit cards machine! They should know that) - the room service was knocking into my room late in the evening so that I return the trolley , my dinner was served on. Even I have not finished the meal yet. These things really disappoint. - no socket next to the bad. It’s already a common thing to charge the phone/ headphones, watch, etc next to the bad. But you can only do it in the room by moving night table Otherwise, it’s a nice place to stay

We loved the building, the dining room, the lobby bar, the mezzanine bar and our bedroom. All were tastefully furnished with a delightful atmosphere. The service we received was excellent. It was my wife's birthday and the staff really went out of their way to subtly make her feel special, with champagne in our room and special cake etc at dinner + the pianist played Happy Birthday. The food was excellent, the staff were efficient, subtle and polite and nothing was tacky or ostentatious (I thought it might be). The cost was high but well worth it and unlike other 5 star hotels we visited, we never felt that we had been 'short changed'. My only small negative point was that as with all luxury hotels, even with the radiator turned off the bedroom was too hot and stuffy - we had to leave the widow open.

Let it not be a surprise that there is no outlet for an old hairdryer in the bathroom, full-length mirror or less lighting in the room. During your stay Reception staff will ask you more than once to bring your passport to the reception because they could not scan it. 2 days after i left the hotel i have been presented by e-mail with a fake mini-bar invoice with wrong stay dates, wrong confirmation number and room number and it doesn’t matter that i didnt used it, full amount of deposit has been tacken by reception from my card. Mistake, can be, i thought at first and wrote back to hotel, but even 3 weeks after my stay the subject is still not solved. Good job, Belmond.

I have stayed in this hotel at least a dozen times in the last 5 years, and simply love it!
I love the elegant domed ceiling in the breakfast room and the live pianist at 8 AM, the cozy and lush bar, the mezzanine floor - perfect for taking tea and having business meetings, with its small shops and delightful chocolate stand (they make amazing cakes and the best hand made chocolate truffles in St Petersburg!)
I was delighted to get a complimentary box of truffles when I was checking out in 2019 - as it was my birthday that day, the management surprised me with this charming gesture). Put a big smile on my face.
This place is just round the corner from Mikhailovsky opera and ballet theatre (not to be missed!) and Gostiny Dvor, a 19 century shopping arcade, is only 300 meters up the road, across nevsky Prospect. Go to the 2nd floor on the Perinny Ryad, looking for the fur hat and coat section - i is a perfect place to stock up on Russian Pavlovo Posad shawls of all sizes, at a fraction of the price you would pay in the airport Duty Free shop. RIght next to it is Style Dega, a Russian designer making fabulous classic knits for businesswomen.

This was my first time at a Belmont hotel, but I really liked it. Upon arrival with a nice welcome drink (russian Champagne), we were escorted to our room and got a brief introduction to the hotel. The rooms are not very large, but well decorated. I found the beds really good. Although it is an older hotel, the room were classic with modern touches like USB ports. The breakfast was very large with fresh eggs, 3 kinds of salmon, around 10 types of cheese, champagne and so on. The service was fast and friendly. As I was staying on a special American Express Package, a dinner was offered. This was not just an average dinner, but a real high quality dinner. Also my dinner at Azia was nice, but I prefer the atmosphere of the Europe restaurant. The Azia was a bit to quiet and therefor lacked some athmosphere, although the food as also very good.
Last but not least, the staff was really nice. Sometimes for me a bit to formal, but I can understand that many guest who are staying in this hotel will like that.
The hotel is on Nevsky Prospect, one of the main streets in St. Petersburg. It is close to the Metro (3 minutes walk) and also the Hermitage can be reached by walking (15-20 minutes.)

Our recent stay at the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg was well above my expectation. It is an absolutely stunning hotel which offers impeccable service and amenities. We enjoyed dinner in the Caviar Bar and Restaurant and had a lovely afternoon break listening to a guitarist, while we enjoyed pastries in the Mezzanine & Delizie by Cipriani Café. Our room was absolutely lovely and overlooked the Russian State Museum and the Savior on the Spilled Blood Cathedral. It is in an excellent location to walk around the city and see the sights, and near several museums, shops and restaurants worthy of a visit, including the Fabergé Museum and the Tsar Restaurant. The hotel is an experience unto itself and I would love to stay there again!

It’s a legendary Hotel in St Petersburg, which is nearly 150 years old. And you can definitely feel the energy of the great history of this place. Rooms are comfortable and tidy. Breakfast choice is pretty good, I would only recommend to introduce more healthy options (vegan, gluten and dairy free). Service is also at the level. In summer season they serve it in a large room of Europe Restaurant. You can enjoy it accompanied by piano music and beautiful panneaus on the wall. Concierge service is excellent. They even organise guided 30-mins tours around the hotel building and adjacent Arts Square as a compliment for the guests. We learned lots of interesting facts about the hotel’s history and the city itself. A very appreciated initiative! The hotel’s location is very good, easy to reach the most important monuments by foot. Personally I love staying in historic hotels and would definitely be back in Grand Hotel Europe next time I am in town.

Actually we stayed in the Art room over looking the park, absolutely beautiful and you would not be disappointed. Classic furnishing, incredible bathroom a real floor of the lifestyle which is St Petersburg. In addition make sure to visit the Merchant Grocery store, excellent caviar and champagne afternoons or lunched. It is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.
