We stayed in this B&B for three nights. The apartment is simply beautiful. Any little piece of it seems to have his history and for this reason is beautiful. The apartment is very spacious, armonic, airy and quiet. From the windows of our rooms we saw the trees of the garden of the Academy in front of us. The owner...

Academy Garden guesthouse is amazing and I definitely recommend it. The room was very nice and spacious. There were plenty of storage areas and seats. The bathroom had no door, which was a little unusual. This meant you could hear anything happening in the bathroom. The facilities are good with a dining table and full kitchen. There's also wifi that...

We stayed here for five nights and it was absolutely lovely. The flat is decorated with great taste - yes, it is as pretty as the photos tell you. And very comfortable. I felt at home almost immediately. The daughter of the host was extremely interesting and fun to talk to. This place is wonderful to come home to, after...

Situated on Vasilievsky Island this is not a hotel but rather several very spacious rooms that John has created from a classic 19th century Russian apartment building. The conversion has been done beautifully, with a light and airy feel about it all. The building is situated in a very quiet street opposite the Academy of Arts within easy walk of...

Don't come here if you want a flashy hotel experience in the middle of the busier tourist area. Do stay here if you want a comfortable place to stay, friendly company and a very helpful host. The apartment is well situated opposite the garden of the academy (during term time there are horses in the gardens for the students to...

The Academy Garden so deserves it's excellent reviews, we stayed for almost two weeks with our family of 4 in the Dutch room in John's guesthouse. From the start, the initial contact with John and his helpful attitude, the attached document to the mail with important and useful addresses in the direct neighborhood and the unreserved availability of John, Dascha...

Hotel might not describe it really, its more like staying at a friends posh pad... Large, light & tastefully decorated 19th century rooms (with an eclectic mix of antique & mod styles & art). Large kitchen/eating area for self usage, self service breakfast is always there (so no rushing to make it - which can be tough after long St.Petersburg...

It starts with the reservation: John helped with the visa, the pick up at the airport, ... He is English, communication easy, quick and friendly! The place is perfect. Nice flat, nice rooms, good location - easy access to town and quiet. Don't get scared by the elevator - it looks ... Old ... The apartment does not :-) Rafal...

We were a group of 6 staying at John's place on Vasilievsky Island. We found it very comfortable and quiet in a residential area of the city. It provided us with a lovely place to gather around the dining room table. It is central and an easy walk to the Palace Embankment. John is knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. We all...

If tourist/luxury hotels aren’t your thing (or your budget won't stretch that far) and you prefer instead to properly immerse yourself in a place, if you are looking for a quiet, spacious and characterful room in which to rest after pounding the bustling streets of this overwhelmingly beautiful city, then look no further. There are just four, incredibly reasonably priced...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a small guesthouse opposite the garden of the Academy of Arts, in one of St Petersburg’s most central spots. Our street is one of the quietest in the city. Our house stands immediately opposite the garden of the Academy of Arts on Vasilievsky Island. In summer when you look out of our windows, you will see a dense wall of greenery, in winter a delicate tracery of trunks, branches, and colums. We offer some of the most spacious and beautiful accommodation in St Petersburg. ... more   less

“Balcony and Dutch are east facing suites, each with two rooms that look on to a quiet street and trees in the garden of the Academy of Arts. I believe that Silver and Lotus are west facing rooms, looking on to a plain, quiet courtyard.”
