I stayed here by myself for a conference and found it a great base. I walked everywhere I needed to get to, and had a comfortable quiet night sleep every night. I loved the quaint little breakfast room and the buffet breakfast spread, which provided plenty of hot & cold options that changed day-to-day. The staff were very lovely and helpful - the reception staff spoke English and even the staff throughout the hotel who didn’t speak English were wonderfully polite and helpful. Would recommend for solo travellers.

Stayed there for 3 nights, booked 2 junior suite rooms, for me & husband and for my parents. Room 213 is newly renovated, quite clean, located just near the reception. Room 201 is Russian style, old, smelly and noisy every time we use the bathroom. Everything was ok during our 3 nights stay, until the last day we want to check out. As my train to Moscow departs at 00.10, so we checked out around 11.00 AM and decided to ask reception to keep our luggage in their concierge area. Later at night around 11 PM, we went back to hotel to get our luggage. The reception said that housekeeping found that the bedside lamp housing crack in room 213. They said that my hand might crack it unintentionally during my sleep. As we didn't do anything wrong, we said that it is impossible. The bed side housing lamp is made of glass, if i was the one who cracked it, surely my hand scratch and bleed! Then i request to meet the manager and housekeeping. They refused by saying that the manager is not on duty, and the housekeeping only speak in Russian. So there is no point to ask to meet them. They insist us to pay 1000 Ruble for the damage. Actually 1000 Ruble is not much, but what i don't like is that none of us did that...So i am very sure that this is their modus operandi to gain small money from some guest. As my train was due, i decided to pay 1000 Ruble, but left a note for them. Saying that i am paying not because that i admit the damage, but because my train is due and i didnt want to have more debate only with reception who has no authority. i also added that they might need to check carefully of their housekeeping because it might happen that the damage is caused by them, but simply put the blame to the guest. Or...change your modus to a more elegant way to gain a little bit more money!

Dear DeviGouw! Thank you for your feedback. It is very important for us. And if I didn’t know how our hotel works and what the rules are, I could really believe that the hotel is so “inelegantly” trying to “earn” money. But it Is not true. According to this situation, I interviewed our staff. When the guest left the hotel, the housekeeper checked the room. This is our standard. She just checked the room without cleaning, as there were still your things in the room. Inspection is usually performed for the presence / absence of damage, dust on objects, including lamps. She found a crack on the lamp and reported to the administrator. Your room was cleaned to the next morning. General cleaning is done after each departure of the Guests and is thoroughly tested by housekeeper. I sincerely regret that you left us with upset feelings, it is also very sad for us, but the staff did everything according to the standards. We are always at your service. Next time we will show you our honest work and regain your confidence. Sincerely yours, "Nevsky Bereg" team. Marina Moiseeva, sales department.

Location is great, 200 meters to the train station and in the middle of all attractions, 24/7 supermarkets next to the hotel and variety of restaurant. Breakfast ok but small point to add is not to put the pork in the same plate with the cheese and chicken, so people who don’t eat pork can eat the cheese and chicken. Reception helpful and friendly smiley staff. Highly recommended hotel.

We stayed a total of 3 nights at 122 Nevsky Bereg hotel during World Cuo. While the exterior and stairs up to the reception doesn't promise much we were very positively surprised by our room (junior suite) which was spatious, bright and newly renovated with nice beds and a good bathroom. Rooms were quiet, even when facing the street. Breakfast downstairs was OK given the pricelevel, reception were perfectly OK in English and the location at the top of Nevsky P and close to Moscow Trainstation. Bathorroms had a bathtub (which made it a bit of an effort to get into for a shower), but was also newly renovated and very nice. I would not recommend the hotel for anyone with problems to climb stairs (no evelator) or to move around freely (getting into tub for sa shower requires some climbing), but otherwise this is very good value for money in its class.

I spent a long time searching for the 'right' hotel for myself and my 11 year daughter for a 3 night stay in St Petersburg. I choose Bereg based on price, reviews and location. We were catching an early morning train (06.25 hrs) to Tallinn on our last day and so I wanted to be close to Moscow Station - this hotel is about 3 minutes walk away. The price was very reasonable indeed - £32 a night excluding breakfast and I have to say this hotel exceeded all my expectations. The location is fantastic - at the lower end of Nevsky Prospect which is basically the main street in St Petersburg. The street is so full of life and interesting things to see that we actually walked to the Hermitage and back on our first day in the beautiful falling snow. Our twin room was just brilliant. It looked like it had just been completely refurbished and everything was brand new including the bathroom with a large shower cubicle and powerful shower. The beds were very comfortable with quality cotton linen. The room was warm - around 25 degrees - heated by a powerful radiator. We could not work out if it was adjustable but the window opened easily so it was not a problem. Our room looked out over a quiet back street (the room may not be suitable for young children as it was high up and the window opened wide). There was a lovely girl on reception called Dana who spoke quite good English and was always very helpful. One evening there was no hot water and she had a plumber to us within 15 minutes who fixed the problem immediately. The building is wonderfully old and all the personified cat paintings on the walls at the entrance were very sweet and made it memorable for my daughter. We paid for breakfast there the first morning. It is served in a nice restaurant in the basement. I found it very adequate but my daughter struggled a bit. A great alternative is the 'Self Service Restaurant' which is in the basement of a building about half way between Bereg and the nearest Metro station so about a 2 or 3 minute walk. Look out for the copper pans hanging above the doorway and you will easily find it. It has a huge selection of food all individually priced and cheap by UK standards yet of very good quality. I feel very lucky to have chosen Bereg as it was such exceptional value for money with lovely modern rooms with every comfort you could wish for in a fabulous location in a characterful building (no lift) and charming service. I really could not have wished for better and it got our holiday off to a brilliant start.

The hotel is undergoing some major renovations, so be prepared for a little bit of dust. The receptionist was very pleasant and was able to check us in early. The room was pretty small and the bathroom was a little moldy. Breakfast (porridges, sandwiches, sweet buns, coffee, tea) was delivered every morning by the hotel staff. Housekeeping was good and on top of their game. The location was pretty convenient and provided easy access to public transportation. Good value if you're looking to save some money on your lodging.

We (2 plus kid) stayed here on our exploratory trip of St Petersburg. The hotel is located right on the main road from the airport, and is about 200 metres from the junction of Moskovsky Vokzal/Ploschad Vosstaniya Metros and the Moskovsky Railway Station (for trains from Moscow and elsewhere). The breakfast is basic and delivered in the room, consisting of bread, cake, yoghurt and juice, all in packets. The cost then was about USD 100 per night, but that was in the winters. In summers, it may go even 2.5 times higher. Some amount of bargaining may work, if you can smatter in Russian! Safety, compactness, location and free Wifi are some of the advantages of this place, all of which are great features when you consider that it is Russia, not 4/5 star and a basic B&B. Commuting to any tourist sight in the city or thereabouts is a breeze, with tour coaches departing right from the junction of the Metro for every trip, even to Finland and thereabouts. There is hardly any view to look for, as this place is just to get back to quickly at the end of a tiring day and crash, to be charged and ready for the next day's trip. The decor is pleasant, and rooms have a kettle, cable TV and a refrigerator. If we were to visit the wonderful and best city of Russia ever again, we would cerainly head right here sans a doubt.
