Squarely in the middle of the Central District, the Hotel Nevsky Central has its main entrance right on Nevsky Prospect. The hotel is less than five minutes from the Moscow Railway Station, and just crossing the street brings you to the Mayakovsky Metro station. The hotel offers 34 standard rooms, most of which have air conditioning. Five of them are singles with small bathroom, phone, TV, room safe and hairdryer; the other 29 are doubles and twins with all the same room conveniences, as well as a choice of double bed or twins and choice of bath or shower. Though the entrance is right on busy Nevsky Prospect, the guestroom windows look onto a quiet, scenic courtyard. The rooms are well designed with comfort and a homelike atmosphere in mind. Wireless Internet is complimentary. Guests can select from among the hotel's many standard services, such as visa support, registration for only 190 roubles and a car and driver to and from the airport. There's laundry and dry cleaning service, a choice of cars with drivers, experienced interpreters in any language and tickets for airplane flights or journeys by rail.

We stayed there from June 11 to June 17. It is the best location in town, however dont be intimidated by the immediate surroundings, there is a sensual massage place in the first floor and several times you get an offer to go inside while your wife is two steps behind you... There is no lobby perse and the acces to a hotel in a third floor without elevator becomes a bit exhausting. The stairs to get to the hotel could use some cleaning and some remodeling. Now the positive. Excellent security, you have to be buzzed in and there is a camera in the front door. We always felt safe. The place is kept clean with a housekeeping service that is consistently good. Breakfast is simple with adequate food and you can eat as much as you want, the ladies who take care of breakfast are extremely sweet and efficient. The front desk girls are very helpful and professional, and always willing to help. As a general rule, the staff was great. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

A good location. The hotel is accessed from stairs "only" and is situated on the third floor. No disabled access.
The Rooms were both functional, and clean but very basic. They were well serviced by the hotel staff. The Breakfast staff were efficent and friendly with no spoken english, and served cold continental breakfasts between 08.00-11.00hrs.
The Hotel reception staff all could converse in English and actioned our requests, but some appeared more service focused than others, and not all looked friendly to customers.

My party had two rooms, and both rooms had brown coloured hot water with bits in, but from reading the travel books this is probally not that unusal for such hotels in Russia. We could shower but would not have sampled a bath.

The hotel location was in a super location, which is what we wanted, giving easy walking access to all the main tourist areas. The hotel is sightly towards the financial end, and closer to the Mosco Station.
Although placed in a busy location, we did not feel threatened, nor vulnerable around the area.

There is a Internet cafe, on the second floor, which served food and drinks, if required plus the internet access. The hotel was Wifi enabled so internet access could be available if carrying a laptop.

In conclusion, I paid about travel inn money for the rooms, and they were adequate, clean, but very basic and not exciting. When I arranged the stay, I could have got a better class hotel for the same money, but these were not centrally located and would have needed the metro, taxi, or long walk to travel into the city. Nicer hotels in the same area are substanially higher priced
In balance, I have paid more for a worst stay in London.

Would I use again?, I would look at the other Nevsky hotels group, such as the Molka 22, which looked nicer from the outside and just off the Nevski Prosepct on the canal. However staying there again would not phase me, as i know what to expect.

Hope this review helps you on your visit to St Peterburg.

Entrance is a little bit hard to find.It is under the Cafe max sign and from there in the 3rd floor.Room was on the top floor and enough big.Carpet was a little bit dirty and needed for change.Breakfast was very simple, but you won´t stay hungry. Free wireless is in the whole hotel area with very good field.I am satisfied with staff, professional service and good English skills.Around the hotel is a large variety of dining places to all budget.Mayakovskaya metro station is across the street and Moskovskaya railway station is one block away.

Good:
Convenient and safe location.
Internet cafe in the same building
Receptionists speak English (from limited to adequate)
Suite has a whirlpool and a tiny dry sauna
Can be reserved through hotels.com (i.e. without contacting the hotel)

Bad:

Despite pre-paid reservation, they tried to send me to another hotel. I arrived at 6 pm and was told they were full. Had to call the central office to get them to honor the reservation.

Rooms are tiny and faced the courtyard. Hallways and stairs are cramped. Construction is new but flimsy. 3 flights of stairs + 1 more inside the hotel – no elevator. For the money, you will get better value at a real hotel, or at a private apartment.

My wake up calls never rang, and no one bothered to go up a flight of stairs to knock on my door

Reserved a car to the airport, then tried to cancel it 15 minutes before departure, and they wanted to charge me. I know for a fact you can cancel a taxi reservation without charge.

Crappy breakfast

Wireless internet does not work in your room. You have to be in the lounge, near the transmitter, and tech savvy to get it to work

Rooms are tiny, most have 2 single beds

i went to hotel, it was small but was fine as a tourist as it was near central area, but had a bad experience in case for security, i forgot my wallet into the breakfast area and after 20 min when i went back, it wasn't in there , so i contacted Daria the reception lady, she told she got the wallet from guest and it with kitchen staff and what i found that all my money was missing in the wallet, when i asked her that i want to contact manager she totally denied and didn't let me speak to manager, and told that guest might have stolen the money, we talked with the guest and he said he found it lying on table and gave to reception lady, but strange part was reception lady was the one to keep it with her but then why she gave it to kitchen staff, who was not even involved , so better be prepared that all the security shown in the hotel is fake, the manager and reception all was involved, from next day Daria not even behaved properly with us. so better for security reason stay away from this hotel.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying at the Nevsky Central and for posting the review. We regret about the occurrence with your purse which for us was equally unpleasant. Your purse was found by one of the guests and delivered to the reception desk. Receptionist on duty decided that the purse would be looked for where it had been left and took it to the kitchen lady. Hotel manager was not at the hotel when you came for the purse and therefore could not talk to you at that particular moment, however she asked for you when she came in later and was waiting for you till late in the evening, unfortunately you were not available. We can assure you that all our staff members have been with us from the very openning of the hotel, and are absulutely trustworthy and devoted to our guests. We are really sorry that this kind of incident happened at our property. With kind regards, Julia Zueva Deputy Director Nevsky Hotels Group

First the positives - Almost everything about the place.

1) Right opposite Mayakovskaya metro, this place is in the heart of the city.
2) Rooms size - decent and cozy.
3) Bathrooms, well appointed with the basics.
4) Housekeeping prompt.
5) Breakfast (included) and even caters to Indians who have more food issues than most people in the world.
6) Staff - extremely warm, very helpful and English speaking, know almost everytihng about bus routes, trams, trolley buses, costs, distances etc.

What floored me about the hotel - I traveled with my expectant wife, we had an early morning flight to catch, so we requested them for breakfast the previous night. They set up a tray for us with quite a few things so that we would not leave hungry. It's these things that completely impress me and the reason I rate the place so highly.

Negatives:
1) The hotel can be slightly difficult to find I would imagine had we not booked a hotel cab from the airport.
2) The approach is not the fanciest and the prettiest (in fact it's an eyesore) - but you should ignore it considering its location.
3) Lastly one big obstacle for me was that it was situated on the 3rd floor and there is no lift, so might be slightly hard for expectant mothers, and elderly people.

If you are young and don't mind running up 3 floors - I would look anywhere else.

Besides the great location of this hotel everything else about this place is bad, especially for senior citizens:
1. Located on the third floor and you have to climb two more floors to reach the room; no lift or staff to help carry luggage.
2. Rooms are pigeon holes and bathroom is really tiny.Beds are very small.
3.No kettles or tea options in rooms. No laundry service. No complimentary water bottles in rooms.
4.Breakfast is very basic and no options especially for vegetarians.
5.Receptionist Anna is very helpful in being very rude and unhelpful.
We reached at 1am and just 2 bags out of 8 bags got picked by capable security guys after pleading with Anna, while almost getting mugged on the streets waiting for someone to help carry the luggage.
Trip advisor please stop putting paid reviews of how nice the hotel is. Respect travellers who are coming from so far.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. We liked it very much and would definitely recommend it to our friends. The positive sides are the following:
- excellent value for money
- reception-girls are nice, they speak English fluently and have excellent pronunciation
- our room window faced the courtyard and it was very quiet inside
- the room and the hotel in whole are very clean
- decent breakfast
- last day we had to check-out before the breakfast; we informed a reception-girl on it, and next morning she gave us lunch-boxes.
- strong Wi-Fi signal in the room
- all-day grocery store in the basement
- all-day chain restaurant "Elki-Palki" (authentic Russian cuisine) is in a couple of meters from the entrance
- Moskovsky railway station is in 10-15 minutes of walking
- the underground station is somewhere near
- the bus stop is in some 100 meters from the entrance (it takes 8-10 minutes to get to the Hermitage Museum by bus)

The negative sides are minor comparing to positive ones
- walls between rooms are too thin; one can hear loud conversations, TV or music from the adjoining rooms
- one day the breakfast cucumber was spoiled
- the bathroom door was a bit creaking
- the bad sometimes was creaking sometimes as well

It was a great pleasure to see the wonderfull city called St.Petersburg! And I was happy to stay in Nevsy Central hotel! It has very good location, it's very close to all museums, beautiful churches, cathedrals. There are a lot of restaurants and cool bars arount there!
The rooms are big and cosy! You can use everything you need in your everyday life (iron, fridge and so on.) The breakfast is made with love! There are many food and beverages alternatives!
I really appreciated that warm atmosphere and I want to thank all the staff! Especially Maria and Oksana, they helped me a lot during my stay! And I was really surprised how good they can speak english! It's very important in Russia cause there are not a lot of people who speak english!
Thanx for everything!
I hope one day I'll be back!
