Despite the distance, getting to the hotel is no problem whatsoever: it's located at a cul-de-sac off the actual Ozernaya ul. (pronounced Azyórnaya úlitsa), and Ozernaya is off Gorkogo ul. Any bus with "Gorkogo" (should you read Russian) on the side will bring you to the closest stop. From South station, it's a 20mins bus ride or 10 mins from the main square. From the bus stop, it's another 5 mins walk, just go up the street with a big BECTE supermarket at the corner. No need for taxi. As already mentioned, reception is open 24hs but I only found Russian speaking staff. Breakfast is not included in the price. As in most ex-USSR hotels, the toilet/br is shared only by the adjacent bedrooms (2 or 3) of a common area, separated from the main corridor, so I had mine just for myself. The internet router is located next to the lift, so if you're lucky to be near it, you might not need to sit in the corridor to use the net. Internet is free. Officially they won't wash your clothes, but if you're lucky and depending on your Russian, you might get into an agreement with one of the cleaning ladies (no drying or ironing). Apart of the distance, the only real annoyance was the impossibility of setting the temperature of the central heating. The heater in my bedroom was probably set for January, which means that my bedroom felt like a sauna in October.

Ok, it's cheap even on Russian standards. It's also badly outdated: the lobby is ok, but the rooms are in a very bad condition and the lift is really scary. We were lucky that we had the hotel booked only for one night, because our friend had an asthma and she found it very hard to breath in the room. The bathroom was ok. The service was not hostile, but our registration forms were delayed so that we had to go back later to get them. The restaurant served a nice Russian breakfast, but for the dinner I would go for the pizza place in the shopping centre nearby. It's not close to anything exept the mall, so you'll always need to take the bus.

A safe, clean , budget hotel to Russian everyday standards. Fluent German spoken by one of the receptionists but otherwise only Russian - do not expect English to be spoken. Good value for money. You need a taxi or public transport to reach the city centre. The cafe/breakfast restaurant is run by separate management and is not always customer -friendly . There is a well -stocked supermarket about 200 yds up the road from the hotel. I would recommend it to large groups or individuals watching their costs - otherwise look at staying at one of the more modern hotels listed on websites.

Ugly hotel, we arrived late in the evening & have got no chose, so we had to stay for 1 night and left early in the morning, as rooms were dirty, smoked and in the cafe for breakfast were only tea and yesterdays bread.
