Godzillas is located in a pre-revolutionary building in the centre of Moscow. All around is the historic centre of Moscow within easy walking distance to explore. The hostel is clean and comfortable and newly renovated to offer our guests a memorable stay. Godzillas is Western managed with friendly English speaking staff. You'll find us friendly and knowledgeable, the location of our hostel ideal, and our surrounding city an inviting one. Godzillas is within easy walking distance of Pushkin Square (7 minutes) and all the central Moscow sites. At night this area is vibrant with bars, clubs and restaurants. It is a 20-minute walk to the Kremlin and other historic landmarks. From the various train stations it is within easy access via taxi off the Garden Ring or via Metro (Tsvetnoi Bulvar Metro). The metro is 5 minutes walk away from the hostel.

Detailed Reviews
This hostel is in such a central location but there is no sign outside so was tricky to find upon first arrival. There’s a great 24 hour grocery store about a 60 second walk from the hostel. The staff were really helpful and friendly throughout. The only downside was that we were on the second floor and the kitchen on that floor was really old and a bit grimy. The only shower room on that floor was accessible by walking through the kitchen and that room wasn’t great either. We showered in the 3rd floor showers which were fine as part of the ceiling fell down in the bathroom on the second floor whilst we were there. Don’t let that put you off though as the staff were straight on it with getting it closed off and fixed.

Godzillas hostel is surely the best budget accommodation in Moscow. Located 5 minutes from the metro it is very easy to get into the city centre. The hostel could be hard to find if you don't go prepared. Their website has some maps of which the 'Taxi' map is particularly good because it has the roads in cyrilic letters as they are marked on road signs. The entrance is an unremarkable brown door with a small sign. Inside there are a number of bedrooms of varying sizes. I saw three and all had IKEA furnature and bedding. It is unusual in my hostelling experience to get comfortable beds with down duvets and pillows so this was a pleasant suprise. Communal bath/shower rooms are cleaned daily and I had no complaints here either. There will be two kitchens - although only one was finished when I stayed. The kitchens did get messy at times but they were also cleaned every day.
There is a small lounge with a tv although this is used for accommodation when things are busy.
Nearby there is a general food/alcohol shop and a pizza hut.
Having read reviews of other hostels in Moscow I was worried about security but my room door locked and the hostel has a safe in the office. I had no concerns about safety at all during my stay.
Yann is the resident sorter of all problems. His humour may catch you off guard when you arrive after a day of travelling but he is genuinely helpful. James, the owner, was also a great help with visa registrations which should be available at the hostel soon.
So are there any negatives? Well just a few. One end of the hostel is over a restaurant/disco. The music never went on after midnight but it did get pretty loud before that.
The hostel is a work in progress. One of the three rooms I went in was quite dusty and one kitchen lacks any cooking facilities. However during my stay a shiny new lamp appeared in my room and various things were being done to improve things. None of these were any trouble more significant than stepping over strips of fresh varnish in two doorways.
One night I had to change rooms. Unfortunately when I returned at the end of the day Yann had gone out so I couldn't get a key to my new room - with all my stuff inside! I eventually got into the new room at 1am.
Lastly, as with any hostel, a good night sleep depends on your fellow guests. There were two nights when a pair of ear plugs would have been handy.
Overall Godzillas is really good value for money. I was happy to accept its faults because it exceeded my expectations in many other ways.

Fantastic hostel :-) Clean, comfortable, great vibes, and the staff were unbelievable. Eseniya and Rasul (I hope I spelled that correctly!) went up and above helping myself and my mother feel super welcomed in Moscow with our questions, tidbits of extra info we needed both for our stay in Moscow and in other places in the country.
The location is fantastic - 15/20mins to the Red Square, the metro at your footsteps, and loads of restos, bars, and so much more right around the corner. Highly recommended !

It was one of best hostel where I've ever stayed. And I can not understand ppl who is complaining about renovations and not getting enough attention from staff members. That's not true!!! Common ppl... you are on holidays - come down and take life easy. We also ordered Trans-Siberian road tickets with them. The best price you could find. And girls, Katja & Tanya, just an amazing persons. I'm gonna miss this place. :)
Good luck with renovations and improvements!

Towards the end of our semester abroad in St.Petersburg, a friend and I went on a 5 day trip to Moscow. We had a great time and our room was comfortable. The highlight of our trip was the Godzilla's Pub Crawl with Evgeny. We had been on a few pub crawls in Russia, but this one takes the cake. Even with our broken Russian, Evgeny was eager to speak with us in Russian (even though he spoke perfect English!). I wish we would have gone to Moscow sooner. I will definitely be staying at Godzilla's again! Спасибо большое!

Very good hostel, clean rooms, cozy and comfortable, I liked the service. Good receptionist Polina, she helped us in one difficult question, so we will come back again and will be glad to meet the hostel again))))

I've stayed at this hostel on three separate trips to Moscow and highly recommend it. First off, the staff is extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, and everyone speaks very good English. Secondly, the staff is very helpful with the visa invitation process and are very good at responding to emails and letting you know the status of your application. Godzillas underwent some renovations recently and the rooms, bathrooms and showers are brand new and beautiful. Everything is very clean and orderly. The location is great, a 3-minute walk to the subway or a 20 minute walk to Red Square. I highly recommend staying at this hostel when in Moscow.

Even before I left the UK the staff were extremely helpful with providing me with the letters etc that I needed for obtaining my visa. When I gave my name at the front desk they knew exactly who I was, welcomed me, asked me how my journey was etc. All of the staff had amazing English and were very helpful and friendly.
The location of the hostel is great. It's about a 20/25 minute, very easy walk to the Red Square. There's also lots of restaurants around, ATMS, a small super market and it's very close to the metro station.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and modern. The kitchens well equipped and always spotless. There was only one occasion when the showers weren't hot and it turned out the heater had clicked off. The guy on the front desk came and sorted it straight away and checked all the other showers located round the building for me to find one that was hot so it was really no problem at all because it was fixed straight away. Great wifi throughout the building for free also.
We didn't get much time to use the social areas but they seemed welcoming and the staff host regular movie nights with popcorn.
One thing to note that we didn't realise when we first checked in was that you have to pay in cash - credit cards aren't taken. This was our fault as it does actually state this on the website and we just hadn't noticed. The girl at reception looked after our bags for us though while we popped to the ATM.
I could not recommend this hostel more! I will definitely be visiting again!

Godzillas is an amazing hostel! The dependencies are very cool and clean, they have showers and toilets in every floor, kitchens are nice and have water for free. The reception people have a very good and clean English. It´s near subway and supermarket! It´s very easily to walk to red square, I would say it´s a 20min walking. I do recommend this hostel.

We was there in a double room before we did the transib. The small room looks grubby and the bed smells not fresh. The showers and toilets can also be better cleaned.
But the location and the staff was great. You can go to the kremel by food in just 15 minutes. Around the corner are a lot of restaurants in different price ranges.
