Booked this hotel on the Marriott web site for a short two day trip to Moscow mainly due to the location and the history. Back in the Soviet Union majority of people new of this place as the Bolsheviks government moved to the hotel from Petrograd in 2018 before their future Kremlin accommodations were ready, including Lenin himself. Service was great with everyone friendly and helpful. Especially Yulia, long time hotel consierge who provided a wonderful historical tour over the property. But... J. Suite was booked with the promised "upgrade". Being a Platinum Marriott member eligible for an upgrade anyway, I was expecting to have at least some great suite with the Kremlin view (the rooms advertised a lot on the hotel website). Did not happen. The room I got was big and nice, but with the courtyard (meaning "no" ) view. It was also a former library and seems to be the only room in the hotel were you could not regulate t. The only way was to call somewhere and ask to make it colder or warmer!? Mini bar on the arrival was empty. They filled it after being asked, but did not bother to refill the next day. And finally, breakfast. Great dinning room with the stunning view directly to Kremlin, but by far the worst breakfast at any 5 or even 4 stars Moscow hotels. No omlet station, two (!) kind of cheese, two kind of jam (no orange), almost no sweets, etc. The view makes up for a lot, but clearly this was way below my expectations. In summary, this is a good place for one time visit due to the location and history, but I probably will not consider National in the future.

The property is stunning with the old style luxurious decoration. The staff is polite and helpful exactly as i would expect of a 5 star luxury hotel staff. The rooms are spacious, clean and well heated. The most amazing room is of course the Kremin view room. Mind Blowing! Superb view. The breakfast room has also a wonderful Kremlin view and the breakfast is well presented and has a variety of choices. The hotel location is the best I could imagine. We never had to use a car or the metro. Every major site is within walking distance. The Dr. zivago restaurant is a must visit. We had a delicious dinner. Is super popular from day to night. The Beluga brasserie is also worth visiting for a chaviar degustation. A superb dinner time. I wish I will visit Moscow again soon and I know where to stay.

Last time I stayed in Moscow I was at the Metropol. I wanted to try another hotel this time, again one with history. The Nacional is an amazing hotel. The views from the breakfast room, looking out to the Kremlin, are beautiful and breakfast is perfect. The little spa on the upper floor is a treat and was quite quiet. I had the place to myself for some time. My double king room was spacious and well appointed. The ground floor bar - Alexandrovsky - lacks atmosphere. The drinks and food were fine, expensive of course but fine. The Dr Zhivago restaurant has superb reviews but wasn’t something I wanted to try. A note about the female concierge who managed to get me to the station on time for my Trans-Siberian train, despite my tardiness in booking transport. She was a marvel and I was so grateful. In the UK you expect to walk outs and flag a taxi. Not so in Moscow! A lesson learned.

Great location, Red Square, right across the Kremlin. Amazing concierge. Decent caviar and champagne for breakfast, if you're willing to go "Russian". Lobby is perfect, room furniture a bit dated. Loved it, but I love Moscow.

Really loved staying here. The hotel is gorgeous, staff were really friendly and accommodated our request for an early check-in. Our room was big and comfortable. The breakfast had a large amount of choice with amazing views looking out at Red Square. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. We decided to splash out more than we usualyl would and this hotel didn't disappoint at all.
