We booked the hotel last-minute, after having an issue with a reservation in another hotel. We arrived approximately around midnight, and there seemed to be last guests of a wedding that has just ended. But, during our two-night stay there were no weddings in the hotel. Both young ladies at the reception were nice, welcoming and helpful. The room was... More

This a fairly small, almost boutique hotel. The facilitiy seems to be very popular as a wedding venue. the rooms are small but functional. The location is convenient. close to the metro and not far from the city center. Unlike previous reviews, I found both the staff helpful, and the breakfast decent. I guess your perception depends on your attitude... More

NIce location but... the breakfast is inedible; the room is small and cramped; a TV fell out of the wall nearly missing me and after that, the hotel asked for a daily rate to allow a 3 hour late checkout; when I declined, at 10 min past noon, the reception was calling every 5 minutes to rush me out of... Very quite hotel with good price and breakfast. If you like very small and friendly rooms, this is for you. Close to the city center it has cool interior and rooms design. Clean and nicely packed. Especially on weekends you will face problems with booking because of many weddings.

We planned a weekend in one of the best locations in Moscow, near Patriarchy pond, in an art-nouveau building by Theodor Shekhtel. Instead we met a terrible wedding, which had been occupying all the courtyard with absolutely crazy ceremonial woman, shouting her endless self-written poem about a couple so loudly it should be heard in kremlin. When will it end?... More

Several reviews complain about the wedding noise and confusion which disrupts their stay but it was not the case for our two night stay in May - there were no weddings! This hotel is a gem in close proximity to most of the important tourism sites in Moscow. The hotel is easy to find and about a five minute walk... More

In my experience getting a good and reasonable hotel in Downtown Moscow is kind of a quest ... this time we tried this small boutique hotel and our experience was good. It is not cheap but also not outrageously expensive. The building is very cozy and if you like small places its a good one. Decoration could be better and... More

Booked a Monday to Friday stay to avoid disco/wedding reception noise mentioned in other reviews. Hotel is comfortable, breakfast good and hotel generally acceptable. We checked out after two nights because of the following. Room 5 has a bad drain smell which comes from the shower/toilet air extraction vent. We arrived at 11pm on day one, windows were open, it... As other reviewers have said, there is one main problem with this hotel - its major revenue stream appears to be weddings/functions. Having said that, it is well located and not uncomfortable. Don't think of it as a typical boutique hotel as it is this only in size, with just 9 rooms. There is little of individuality in the hotel,... More

We arrived at the hotel around 10 pm on a Sunday evening when a wedding reception was just breaking up. It was rather uncomfortable dragging our heavy suitcases through the wet garden and into the building while the wedding guests were just departing - all of us trying to get through one narrow door. At reception no none spoke a... More

Staying in Patriarch Ponds

Neighborhood Profile
Patriarch Ponds
When you need to hide from the city’s noise and traffic but don’t want to stroll too far, Patriarch Ponds is the place to be. Calm water, friendly swans and ducks with beautiful early 20th century architecture in the background make this neighborhood a place you’ll never want to leave. Besides stylish bars and restaurants scattered in the streets around the pond, you’ll be able to enjoy museum life from modern art to a former private apartment of Mikhail Bulgakov. As most of the businesses are open late, stop for a cocktail and then stroll by the pond to rent a boat and row yourself to the middle of the “bowl” as the locals call it.
