I made a reservation three weeks in advance for 9 persons. In the late evening before the reservation I received a call that price for our reservation was raised by 30%. We tried to find an alternative, which was on this short notice impossible. I find this approach exploiting and disappointing.

We arrived at around 12 pm and when buying the ticket we we're not informed that there is a problem with the pool heating and indoor heating installation. The temperature of the indoor pools was about 23-24 degrees (a technician from Sun Garden informed us after asking him) and the temperature should be 27-31 degrees according to their boards. The air temperature inside was so cold that we could feel the cold air in the saunas. This being said we informed the reception about the problem, their reply was "we informed the boiler technician but it's Saturday and we don't have an estimate for the problem". After waiting for 2h for the problem to be fixed we decided to leave and ask for a refund, but of course this being a Romanian spa they had Romanian 0 customer care and told us that there was no refund and that this is life. We asked to fill a official complaint and were given a blank A4 where we wrote the complain (they are probably laughing with their managers while reading our complain and making fun of us). Oh and yes the next day I had a small cold because of their cold spa conditions. I'll never return to Sun Garden because of this experience - I've lost 240 lei (two people entry fee), got a cold and got reminded that this is another Romanian company with a classic non existing customer care attitude. Until they fix their attitude and start really caring for their customers it's better just to go elsewhere or go in Hungary for a spa (cheaper, better customer care, better food and overall better experience).

We spent a day with our families at the external pool, 4 adults and 3 kids. Pros: The reservation process works smoothly and all the personnel were very helpful and kind, from receptionists to bartenders of chefs The place has a maximum capacity in line with the number of sits available at the pool The location is very nice Cons: The water was very cold and most of the people could stay in the pool, even more cold for kids. The temperature should be controlled as 28, 29 degrees as usual. The pool was not clean, you could feel how slippery was at the bottom of the pool as it was no cleaned and the pool started to get green on the bottom The surroundings of the area was not clean either, the grass was not cut, the vegetation was not properly maintain. You easily get dirty on your feet around the pool. There are not enough places to protect from sun during mid day. Such a place should have umbrellas for each sit to use it in case you want. This gets very uncomfortable if you want to spend the hole day there The entrance price is very expensive compared with the services you get

Whenever I travel to a 5 star resort I expect it to adhere to a minimum set of standards — SunGarden Golf & Spa Resort however does not. The room we stayed in was decent in size, with a medium sized bed that was quite uncomfortable, as it was incredibly soft. As this was in early March, the temperature outside was quite low, so we had to turn on the heating, which was a bad idea, since the HVAC system did not appeared to have been cleaned for quite a while, since there was a slightly intoxicating, damp smell coming out of the unit. Hence, we had to open the windows during the night. The medium sized bathroom is quite dated and completely unworthy of a 5* hotel. Both the water and the ventilation had a similar damp smell, which was quite annoying. The water pressure in the shower was incredibly low and setting a decent water temperature turned out to be quite a challenge, since even moving the single knob 1mm would turn the water either ice cold or insanely hot. A significant part of the shower was yellowed out, as if it were either burned or in the past there was a leakage that wasn't fixed in due time. Toilet evacuation was also a bit unsanitary. Bed lined were also sub-standard, we well as the bathrobes, that were not only old, but also stained. Doors in the room still had a generous amount of paint on them since the room was repainted, however considering the scratches on the walls I deduct this was not done recently. Room was also not vacuumed in the 2 days we were the guests of the hotel — which is quite unsanitary. The SPA is well proportioned, however dated as well. In some parts of the main pool tiles were missing and the water evacuation system looked like it wasn't cleaned in a while. The "premium access" section of the SPA, called Amedeea Paradise, is a worthy update if you're there just for the day. However, it's a 25 RON upgrade of you're an external guest and 50 RON upgrade if you're a hotel guest as well. That section is also a bit dated and the cave is quite a health hazard, seeing as it's dimly lit and full of rocks — with a bit of careful navigation, this will not be an issue. Amedeea Paradise is a quiet zone with a few managed saunas of various types — however the staff did not enforce any rule, hence it was almost impossible to relax due to excessive laughs and conversations, guests coming in without towels or showering and worse, throwing THEIR OWN substances on the heated rocks and salts in the saunas, with complete disregards to possible allergies of other guests! A nice surprise was the restaurant and its staff — the food was quite good and the staff quite knowledgeable and friendly, as opposed to the hotel staff that was either too bored or untrained to properly handle guests and their questions — it really shows that SunGarden is not part of a chain that would have set some standards when it comes to human-to-human interaction. The breakfast was decent, however NONE of the foods or beverages were labeled, making it impossible for any guest to seek out possible allergens and this is a huge liability for the hotel. I even played a quick game of "guess the juice" in one of the mornings, as it was impossible to tell what one of the juices were, even after tasting it. Overall the location is very nice and the restaurant is well worth it, however the resorts needs to go a long way to earn the 5 stars it boasts. Hence, I'm giving it a 2 star rating and I shall update my rating and review if and when the conditions will change.

I have started to go on regulary basis to the spa within this hotel; I am very pleased of the services there, the personnel is nice and do not disturb you all the time, are discret and kind; very good food in the small restaurant part of the spa, healthy and tasty; I love this place, especially for many types of sauna and the beds with straw mattress
