There isn’t anything not to like about the Inns. We stayed at one of the houses (Wallcourt) and toured them all. Everything is perfect. The employees are engaging and thoughtful, the buildings spotless, the amenities a pleasure. It can be pricey, but, it’s only money. We caught a special rate off-season, then dropped $600 at the spa. If you have the wherewithal, don’t hesitate, book a stay here.

I just wanted to drop you a line on my experience at The Inns of Aurora. Let me start with that I have been telling everyone I know about how they need to find a way to book their “hospitality experience”, that’s how fantastic it was. Christmas started with a Blizzard that hit Buffalo NY, our trip to Florida on December 26th never materialized and our Airline left us no back up flights. My girlfriend and I were exhausted from the storm cleanup and needed some refuge. She was familiar with your property being a Rochester native and a big MacKenzie-Child’s collector. Surprisingly, I had never heard of the property, but we booked a 3-night stay at the Rowland House starting on December 28th. We used the website for 2 nights booking but talked to a very nice individual who helped us extend to 3 nights and book our amenities(having all team member access to the SPA calendar is a huge customer service win). When we arrived the wow began, the Inn keeper who greeted us started our experience with kindness and enthusiasm about the Inns and the Rowland House. She was so excited to explain all the features of the entire house and amenities the stay brought. The second wow was our room #8, the MacKenzie-Child’s décor just floored us. The first night after our wine and cheese, we enjoyed a quick walk to the pub for a couple of beers and Burgers(we finally relaxed). Although the property was full, you felt like you were the only ones there. Thursday morning, we did the YOGA class which had an incredible all level instructor, she was able to manage the different experience levels in the class and gave us a great workout and stretch. We then drove to Ithaca for the day and returned for a night of relaxation walking the grounds, playing cards, and reading in the third-floor salon. Friday was our SPA day. The nicest SPA facility we have ever been to, the indoor-outdoor pools were incredible. Again, the SPA team picked up where the Inn Keepers left off, the team was cordial, kind, enthusiastic and proud about the experience we were about to have. The last night was a drink at the fire pit which our Inn Keeper lit for us and our fabulous dinner at the Aurora INN. By now I am sounding so redundant about service excellence. I wanted to share the details because I want your team to know how much the little personal touches meant to us. The facilities were immaculately maintained, the view outstanding and the food is delicious, but the real reason why I am telling everyone I can about the “The Inns of Aurora” is your very talented team. You will be seeing a big uptick in reservations from Buffalo, and I am sure, and we will be back soon. Thanks Jim…
I started visiting the Inns of Aurora in 2012 and up until last week, could have been president of their fan club, if they had one. At least twice yearly, my husband and I would visit the lovely town of Aurora (which would be just a tiny town with neglected, historic mansions, if not for Pleasant Rowland.) We loved everything about Aurora…all three inns (now five,) were wonderful; the story of how Pleasant saved the town…it’s charm, kindness and class. We “recruited” many friends to visit and I also organized girl’s trips, over the years. Unfortunately, it seems that growing pains have impacted their culture as our last visit had cast a bit of a shadow on our overall impression of current leadership. In August, I booked our stay for 3 nights at EB Morgan, for early December. In September, I received a call that we were being “upgraded” to the Aurora Inn. Having stayed at all five of the inns, several times, I knew that this was not an upgrade. The Aurora Inn is lovely and the rooms have been recently renovated, but EB is more quiet and elegant with an “adults only” policy. After sharing my concern, it was clear that it didn’t matter. Was told that the best they could do was move us to Aurora Inn, for the third night (they committed to a wedding,) or, of course cancel our trip. No compensation was offered until I asked. They offered a $150 amenity credit which turned out to be 7.5% of our stay as we spent nearly $2K.(A 50-minute massage at the Spa is $175.) Having spent my entire career in business, I understand that sometimes corporate decisions have a negative affect on customers; learned that it’s “how you handle” the situation that will impact a customer’s impression. Had a very similar situation in NYC at a premier hotel and their idea of an “upgrade” was moving us to the Carlyle Hotel, TOTALLY PAID FOR by the hotel. I didn’t expect the same from The inns of Aurora, but $150 credit was not commensurate (and rather insulting.) I don’t want to imply that management is “rinky dink” but it was simply that they didn’t seem to care about a loyal customer (for more than a decade.) P.S. On a positive note, most of the staff, do a phenomenal job. Innkeepers Ana and Judy are first-class. Hopefully, they are treated well.…
Not everyone is into clean but my family is. This place is spotless. They go the extra mile to be friendly, efficient, and make your visit special. I brought my daughter for her birthday and they brought us a bottle of wine and two glasses to celebrate to our room. Every morning there was fresh coffee and homemade granola bars and at night between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. they provided complimentary wine and cheese. The rooms are spacious, quiet, and the common areas are beautifully decorated in a modern farmhouse style. Will definitely be back.
My husband and I stayed here (at the main Inn) the two nights after getting married at another venue around the other side of the lake. We received unparalleled service from all staff at the Inns. A bottle of champagne was chilled in our room, a handwritten note, help with restaurant reservations, the list goes on! I loved the coffee and homemade breakfast bars & local yogurts in the hallway each morning. The view from our semi-private porch was excellent.
Enjoyed a weekend night in the Zabriskie house, Sheila the innkeeper was excellent. Very beautiful accommodations, but it came at a high price for a weekend night. Dale at the main Inns front desk was friendly and accommodating, went out of his way for us. Had a delicious dinner in the 1883 Restaurant. Informed our server that I was gluten free (celiac disease) however my meal was served to me not gluten free and I consumed half of it. The server was so apologetic and it was not her fault because it was the kitchens fault. The manager was extremely apologetic and compd' my meal. Visited the spa, and this is why I cannot give the resort a 5 star. It is an absolutely beautiful facility, however I found the ladies changing area not to be up to par' concerning cleanliness. When you pay $300 for a massage + $60 gratuity, this is not acceptable. The shower that I used was filthy, there was hair all over the walls and floor, and when I went to use the shower gel it was completely empty from the canister on the wall. Towels were overflowing and there was hair all over the floors in the changing areas. I did kindly let the front desk at the spa know of the conditions and she very nicely told me that they did not have a spa attendant on duty, this is probably due to understaffing. This is really the only complaint that I had. Other than this, it would have been a 5 star experience,…
We stayed in Zabriskie House for 2 nights. The building has been lovingly restored, and everything was picture perfect. Room was luxurious, bathroom was fabulous. Sitting rooms were very comfortable, and the daily 5pm complimentary wine-and-cheese was a welcome treat. HOWEVER, the breakfast was hopeless, especially considering the exorbitant cost of the room. We have stayed at many B&B's across Canada and the US, for less than half the cost of Aurora, that served wonderful, hot, home-cooked breakfast with freshly made breads and pastries. Not here, however. Even though they sell fresh croissant, muffin and scones right across the street at their own store, they can't even be bothered to bring them to the inn. There were a couple of rock-hard boiled eggs (and even they were gone by day 2), some cheap wrapped cheese (also gone day 2), local yogurt (which was only good thing), and granola bars. Not what you would expect from a luxury inn. PLUS, they only have a single EV charger for all 5 inns, and even that wasn't free, as it is at every hotel.…
Loved the Inns of Aurora - the overall quality and service were Excellent, the area was beautiful (right on Cayuga Lake), and it was very peaceful. The Mackenzie-Childs Farm (including production and showroom) is right down the road from Auora Inn.
Beautiful resort and friendly service, but a little expensive for the amenities offered on site, not much else to do besides the water activities, the complimentary bikes were too tall, and no pool onsite. Complimentary breakfast was decent, but wish there would be a little more varieties.
