Used to be the nicest hotel to stay in if you were to going to be in the Pasig/Mandaluyong area; and the proximity to 2 malls on either side was a bonus for variety of food and a bit of shopping when needed. With many many high rises choking the air flow around it, situated right next to one of the most congested highways in Manila, it is showing her age.. The restaurants and Chi Spa were nice stops prior to the pandemic; can get COVID tests done where the Spa was. Hotel grounds still well-maintained, and rooms are OK, but it is no longer what it used to be.

I literally just walked in to this hotel as I’m just living in front of it. When I arrived at the reception, they have required me to have a mandatory COVID test (Antigen Test) before I can booked a room. The cost of the test is 1800 PHP and they have a separate team who’s doing the test (I got the result of my test after a few minutes). I booked for a Deluxe Room but my view was SM Megamall (yeah, crappy view) but I didn’t care as I just really want to have a short staycation. The pool is nice. It’s really an oasis but I did not use it as it’s pretty cold that day when I checked in. The steam room and sauna were closed as well (due to pandemic restrictions). I basically just spent my day lounging inside my room. PS: Book your stay using the Hotel’s Website so you can get Golden Circle points ❤️

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay at the hotel. All of the staff followed safety protocols and strictly enforced all the guidelines mandated by the IATF. It is commendable how much they take the prevention of the spread of the virus seriously. The hotel requires every guest to present a negative antigen result 24 hours before you are ought to check-in. The guards outside of each entry way checks your temperature before entering the hotel; a hand sanitizer is also stationed almost everywhere. There are security officers roaming around common areas to make sure that the guests are wearing their masks and face shields. *ROOM: Clean and tidy, big windows, great view The room was sealed before entering the first time, indicating that it has been thoroughly sanitized before we went inside. The hotel provided separate trash bins for regular trash and for the disposable face masks. The bedsheets and towels were replaced every single time the room was cleaned by housekeeping. The room was always clean and tidy every single time we went back to the hotel room. *AMENITIES: Done through appointment to ensure social distancing Pool area: Although the hotel wasn't packed when we stayed there, it is still required to call in order to reserve a slot at the pool. Gym and spa: Spa services weren't available due to COVID prevention, however the gym was still open. You also need to reserve a slot to be able to use the gym and they check your temperature upon entry. At the gym, there is an instructor that you can ask help for which was nice. Antibacterial sprays and tissue paper are also stationed throughout the gym so you can sanitize the equipment as you use them. *IN-ROOM DINING: Order through your phone There is a QR code provided by the desk in the hotel room if you wish to order room service. The waiting time is generally okay, which was 30 minutes. When the food arrived, it was still hot and in good condition. The staff was very helpful in attending to our needs as we needed more drinking water. It's also nice that they still provided us french fries even though it wasn't on the menu because my 6-year-old niece really wanted some. STAFF: Very hospitable and warm; always smiling. One thing that stuck with me is that every staff is always smiling and greeting us whenever we come across them-even the housekeeping staff! They are very friendly and accommodating which really brings us joy. I would recommend EDSA Shangrila to anyone in Manila who is looking for a safe place to have a staycation. You would really feel safe in the hotel since they are really strict with the safety protocols.

It’s been several months since I had a staycation because of the pandamic. Fortunately, there are some hotels open for leisure like Edsa Shangri-la. They only need you to have a swab test 24 hours prior check-in. For your convenience, they offer the test located at Chi Spa (right next to the hotel) at ₱1,800 nett THINGS THAT I LIKED: 1. Staff - All of them were very polite and accommodating. All of them are alert with your needs. They seem to be proactive. Irene, the receptionist who assisted us, was very courteous and enthusiastic to give all the details we need for our stay. She even took the liberty to book our swimming schedule. 2. Room - It’s been a while since I went here. I think it was more than a decade ago. The room looked different, it seems it was newly renovated. Bed is super comfortable, it has smart TV, kettle, utensils, plate, glasses, mugs, wine glasses, coffee and tea. It has a comfortable couch, coffee table, office chair and desk. Because of the pandemic, they also added alcohol spray and face mask kit. 3. Bathroom - Although, it doesn’t have a bathtub but it was still spacious and clean. It’s also appropriate for senior and handicapped because the shower area has a place were the persob can sit comfortably while bathing. 4. Location - The is a bridge (they call it a lift) going to Shangri-la Mall. It is also walking distance to SM Megamall. 5. Pool - It was beautiful and clean. There were so many amenities for kids that they’ll definitely enjoy. 6. Check in and out - Currently, they have a promo where you get to check-in as early as 8am and check-out as late as 6pm the next day. Both check in and out were a breeze. THINGS I LEAST LIKED: Actually, it was just one item...their breakfast buffet. I expected more because as I recall, their breakfast buffet was really good. They have a lot of breads, jams, spreads, and cheeses but now, very minimal. They even have different drinks aside from the typical they serve. I think they have fruit shakes before. I liked their Christmas roll (forgot what’s it called) though. It’s like a fruit cake but bread and it’s covered with chocolate on top. I liked their Pork Asado with fried rice. I liked their brewed coffee (you get to have your own pot) and fresh orange juice. I liked their fresh fruits because it’s sweet. Overall, I enjoyed our stay because they follow safety protocols therefore it felt safe. There were less people. Going / using private amenities were controlled. I think I want to go back there on new year.

In this scary time of Covid-19, staff have maintained to be cordial, polite but in control to introduce to clients their own procedure to screen guests during registration. The maintenance of the facilities has been consistent. This has been a part of our organization’s convention since its construction but the hotel has maintained its class throughout the years!
