Customer service was accommodating enough to move us to another family room, which was cleaner. Although I noticed that the bed sheets felt damp, before and after we slept.
Breakfast buffet was supposed to be included, however we were told that if the volume of guests isn't high enough they will switch to a continental breakfast served by Dulcinea. We later found out that the "buffet" has minimal choices including egg with sardines.
The most disappointing part was that we paid the same amount for the same type of room at a luxury hotel in Manila the next day. I do not recommend this hotel and will not return.
Rooms:
1. Small but strategically design for comfort.
2. Complete toiletries.
3. Everyday room make-up
4. Wifi not so strong in our room.
Food:
1. Some of the foods in the menu is not available. (might out of stock?)
2. the food taste ok.
3. it's a bit pricey.
4. buffet breakfast is ok, but limited choices.
Location:
1. From victory liner terminal, you need to take a cab. it will cost you 40 pesos.
2. location is ok not really far in the city area.
Staff:
1. they always smile.
2. they will really attend your needs.
3. they are helpful.
Overall, i could say i will still consider this hotel for my future visits in baguio.
We got there early, like around 10AM, and since we understood that hotels follow a check-in and check-out schedule, we asked if early check-in can be accommodated, and since the hotel was jampacked, we decided to leave our stuff, and start our Baguio exploration. The receptionist was very nice, and everyone else was ready to assist you, from the guard up to the chambermaids. The hotel itself, when you go up to it, had a very serene and quiet atmosphere, which is what really attracted us to it, since the rest and relaxation was what we were really after. Once you enter the lobby, smell of freshly brewed coffee greeted you, which is heavenly especially in weather that cold...
So when we came back from SM Baguio to finally check-in, we got room 403, which was very convenient since it was just a tumble away from the lobby. We were informed that hot coffee was available 24 hours and can be taken to the room along with anything you order at the resto (which was heavenly since it was Dulcinea and we just adore their Churros!!!!) When we finally got to the room, it was really nice, and had an absolutely BIG window with a view of the trees and mountainside of Baguio city. There was a couch right next to the window which made it perfect if you want picture moments with a nice background . Bed was nicely made and bathroom was spic and span, complete with toiletries and all that.
After a restful night's sleep under thick sheets since we got there with an 8 degree temp, breakfast wowed us the most since we had choices between different types of breakfast (continental, american and pinoy). Of course, we had to pay extra for Churros (who cares, it's very affordable!), but that topped our breakfast off really well. Add the overflowing coffee and everything is excellent.
We stayed there 2 nights and had a fantastic time. Everyone was friendly, and ready to help, no matter what time we needed the assistance. We even got hungry after midnight and had pizza delivered from Volante, and they were really helpful and even allowed the delivery boy to take the food right at our doorstep.
I was reading the other reviews, and found it funny that some others had a bad time at this hotel. Except for the wifi, which had some problems when we were there, i saw nothing bad about this hotel. I guess when you look at things the right way, and you're with the right person, everything else will go the way you want it to. =)
when we arrived in the room.. i noticed that the remote control for the t.v. is missing..! the staff said they will look for a replacement but they never did, not even a feedback or apology or something.. and their breakfast buffet..? i don't know about others but for me a plain rice, longganisa and hard boiled egg doesn't really count as a buffet meal to me.. and to add in my list, our hotel card keeps on malfunctioning that we have to re-validate it.. twice!
we might consider in returning to Baguio.. but we will never stay in this hotel again..
PROs
1) Charming and modern B&B -- love the feel of the place. unique and pleasant modern decors.
2) Great customer service -- courteous, friendly, and not overbearing
3) Good location -- about 15-20mins walking distance to SM Baguio and about 10mins walking distance to the bus terminal (Victory Liner)
4) Cozy restaurant with a view -- I think this is the Dulcinea with the best view.=) they also have portioned cakes and pastries at reasonable prices.
5) Free wifi in the room -- nice add on!
CONs
1) extra charge for checking in early -- first time I had to pay for early check-in (30% of my room rate) despite explaining that we were leaving early. just didn't make sense especially if they allow late check-outs. management should revisit this policy and abolish.
2) extra charge for a face towel -- they can provide for free use of slippers and free newspapers but can't for a face towel? again, didn't make sense. management hopefully looks into this as well. it's not really much in terms of value but it's just a bit annoying to be charged bits and pieces. So, either provide for free or don't provide at all.
3) Funky smell in the shower (hence the low rating on cleanliness) -- not sure why but whenever we use the shower, the drainage lets out a funky odor. Maybe they need to deodorize.
