We didn't know Trujillo, so we booked this hotel partly randomly. However, we were happy with the location near many restaurants and other services and within walking distance from terminals of several bus companies. Our room was nice and the bed was comfortable. As the weather wasn't hot we didn't use air-conditioning, but during the night the room became a bit too hot. The electricity sockets in the room were different from the ones normally used in Peru but we could borrow an adapter from the hotel. The bathroom was clean and there was hot water all the time. The breakfast was really nice with lots of variety. The hotel garden and pool are small, so we didn't spend time there. All in all, El Gran Marques is a good option in Trujillo.
Friendly and professional staff, clean rooms and well appointed. Good breakfast and reasonably priced. I’ve read some negative reviews, but still decided to give this hotel a chance, based on it’s location that was convenient for me.Well, let me tell you, I have ,so far, nothing but good experience and definitely would recommend this hotel.
This was almost a mile away from the Plaza de Armas, but it gave us a good walk when sightseeing. There are a decent number of nice restaurants within a short walk. It is next door to Wong, the big grocery store, and down a quiet side street. We had a room in the back, which was quiet. The room itself was small, but the bathroom was fairly roomy, with counter space. Everything was very clean. Breakfast buffet was generous, and had other dishes than just eggs, which my husband appreciated.
Location is great, very close to the best supermarket in town. Very neat and quiet. Food was great and breakfast service has many choices including peruvian dishes. Rooms are great and comfortable. Considering the price, I am pretty sure we made the best choice.
I visited Trujillo last week and i was trying to get a room and search for rates for several hotels, and I found their price better than others good hotels. Its very clean, staff are educated, wifi connection is good, near to Wong supermarket (200mts). Breakfast is very good, lots of options! Special breads, etc.
We stayed at this hotel at the last week in 2016 which was peak traveling season in Trujillo. The hotel offers very clean bed rooms and bath rooms, corridor, roof top pool and spa and wonderful breakfast. There are very large conference rooms and a small ones that can seat some 30 people and Wong supermarket is next door. Since it is located in a secondary road, it is relatively quiet at night and it seems to be in safe neighborhoods.
The rooms are very comfortable, great accomodations, air conditioning, excellent beds, a mini office in the room, wi fi, etc... The Hotel is in a nice and safe area, you can walk on the streets around any time at nights... Near to downtown, you can even walk...
I'm a picky traveler and was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. The area is safe and nice. The beds were great. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was very good. The shower could have been a little better. I would definitely stay here again.
Great accomodations. Very comfortable and pools galore. Only issue was the restaurant inside the hotel. Not good and very expensive. The hotel is expensive per Peru's standards. Not so per North American standards. Very good attention and care.
El Gran Marquez is well-located, only one block off Larco, a main street, next door to Wong's a huge, modern supermarket, and within a block or two of 4 or 5 decent to upscale restaurants. The chicken restaurant on the corner of Larco is very good with a wide choices (except for vegetarians) and is reasonably priced. The Caramel Cafe, two blocks away from Larco offers great salads and desserts. El Gran Marquezt is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas on a route difficult to get lost on. The rooms cost about $65 US. They are modern, air-conditioned, with cable TV and the wifi worked fine in my room. The included buffet breakfast was the best in Peru and the coffee was also the best. You receive a drink for free. There is a nice pool in the patio and a shallow pool on the rooftop deck.…
