The Posada Don Giorgio was generally clean, and fairly quiet though the central courtyard amplified any noise coming from the office/reception area and distributed it evenly to all the rooms. The location was good - not too far from Calle Lima, but far enough to be removed from the 24 hour noise one encounters on busier roads like Calle Libertad. Breakfast was adequate and the rooms came equipped with cable TV.

The staff was VERY accommodating! After our stay was over, we went to Taquile Island for a night. We we returned we had a long wait before our bus to Cusco. They were gracious enough to hold our large bags so we were free to have dinner & stroll around till it was time for our bus. In fact after talking with them, we could have actually stored the big bags there while we were at Taquile & wouldn't had to lug them to the island. Would definitely stay there again just because of their hospitality! 5 star service

It was a little thread bare, lighting a little dim, but otherwise fine. 3 star room

A reasonably clean and comfortable budget style room with good hot water. Constantly barking dog nearby was somewhat annoying when you were trying to sleep. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They voluntarily phoned to confirm our stay at Uros Khantati (a floating reed island).

We stayed here for 3 nights in the beginning of Aug. and had absolutely no complaints. Very basic room (yes outdated but comfortable). Actually there is a lot of hot water but something we learned was you had to run it for a full 5 min (or more) before it reached your bathroom.
It is very centrally located with a 1 -1/2 block walk to all kinds of restaurants and shopping. Very safe area (many police on every corner). Breakfast is very minimal but we found that in most hotels or hostels unless we moved to a 4 or 5 star.
Very helpful staff. Let us leave all our luggage in the room while we did the homestay on Amantani Island. Many will keep your luggage but move you out of your room until you return. We found that a nice bonus.
Not a lot of English spoken but like us you will eventually be understood.

Puno is a pleasant town and the Posada Don Giorgio was a nice place to stay. It's on a quiet street near the centro and the people were very friendly. The shower was good and hot. Breakfast was one of the better ones by Peru standards. (Don't expect too much). The room was clean and very reasonable for the price.

Definitely the worst hotel of our trip. Upon arriving at the bus terminal, we were immediately approached by a lady whom we assumed was affiliated with the Posada don Giorgio (whom we had reservations with), as she held up a postcard with its name and picture and offered to help us get there. Silly us -- we should have known better. We immediately knew something was wrong when she hopped in the cab with us, and despite our polite turndowns, followed us into the hotel. We got the keys to our room and then she practically refused to let us enter unless we booked a tour with her. Our entreats to the front desk were ignored. She wouldn't take no for an answer and finally let us go after informing us that she would be back in an hour, this despite all our refusals. Meanwhile, we checked into a windowless room that was dark, gloomy and worst of all, had an enormous skylight above the bed that was absolutely covered in black mold. We asked to change but the management brusquely informed us that the hotel was full. We retreated back outside only to be greeted by our tourguide friend waiting for us in the lobby . Tried beseeching the front desk for help but he didn't speak a word of English, was not at all friendly and seemed far more interested in his football match. We finally booked our return bus ticket with the lady just to make her go away, but she was obviously colluding with the hotel management and together they made for a very uncomfortable stay. Stay here if you must as Puno is short on options, but be sure to ask for a room with a window and be on your guard for touts!

We arrived in Puno at around 5:30am. Once we got to the hotel, we were able to eat breakfast (there is an extra charge of 5 soles) before half of us left for a full day Floating Islands tour. I was happy to wait in the reception area as the time of check in was after we were going to leave for our half-day tour, however I promptly fell asleep on the sofa and the staff had placed a blanket over me. At about 7:45am, I was woken up as they had our 4-bed room ready for us which was great news! We were able to have a quick shower and change before our tour, which started the day off well!

The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of space in the room for four of us and all of our luggage. The bathroom was clean. There was building going on the next morning which meant there was no hot water until 10:30/11ish which was not great as we were not forewarned, however I think it was out of the staff's hands and they were quite apologetic about it.

All in all, a good hotel for our one night stay in Puno. Would recommend.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The recommended to book a bus to the airport instead of taxi because it's cheaper and reliable, and they were right. They also called the bus to check if they are on time - very nice from them. The room was clean. Close to the town center. Basic breakfast.
They should provide at least one face or hand towel, not just bath towels. The room was very cold but that's a usual thing in Peru hotels/hostels.

The hostel is located in the town centre, large rooms with hot showers and free wifi. Very clean too. I really liked the breakfast as the standard in Peru seems to be a break and strawberry jam while here we had a choice of cheese and ham too. The staff was very accommodating and let us store our luggage for a night while we did a home stay on the Amantani island
