Wow, there are sort of things I wanna say about the best experience in Peru and maybe one of my favorite travel around the world. Puno is a magic place but stay in Esteves Island was gorgeous. We spend 3 nights there, and I have to say that I will never regret to be in that beautiful hotel. You can feel the essence of luxury and at the same time the lake powerfull. We arrived at 3 o'clock, and the reception guy was pretty kind with us, he knows how to make a magnificent speech for have a great welcome. Then we went to our room, it was so awesome! They gave us the perfect city view. Can u imagine stay at night seeing the moonlight reflexing over the lake? It was like we were in a magical place, also the food was magical, they gave us typical dishes, I have to come back for that Alpaca meat! Always smiling, always the greeting, you can breath 5 stars in every corner. I took a bath at morning, heard birds singing was from another world. I know that I must to come back to Puno and stay in that pretty island, the best place to have the most unbelieveble experience you could ever had. Just freakin' love it!!!!!!!!!! I have to say thanks to everyone, thanks for every happy moment and the view to a cool city. Cool? Was unreal, I will love to plan another trip there, and stay in the best Puno's luxury hotel.

The location was great, really close to the city by taxi. The bedroom itself was very clean and the oxygen really helps with breathing. The bathroom floor is marble and you can turn on a heating feature, that warms the floor. Most rooms come with a bath tub, which was marvelous. and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. very typical/buffet style (eggs, bacon, bread, juices, etc.) would stay again!

I stayed at Isla Esteves for 2 nights and it was purely magical. For starters, the location is excellent, the hotel is around the lake, creating a peaceful atmosphere during your stay. The hotel is large with many green areas, they make bonfires at night while you enjoy your wine in front of the beautiful views. I was delighted! In addition, the rooms are very comfortable and quiet, a perfect place to relax after one of the many activities that the hotel offers its guests. The attention of the entire reception team was extraordinary, especially Milagros who was very professional attending us all the time. I recommend the day on the lake and also the visit to the Uros islands, I loved them! I really recommend this hotel :)

What didn’t go well? This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, and I would never stay here again. Though I had several more economical options, I chose to stay at this 5 star hotel because I was expecting a certain level of service and class, which this hotel completely lacked. 1. I took an overnight bus from Cusco and reached here super early (around 6am). I had anticipated this wound happen, so had contacted the hotel several weeks in advance and asked them if they would be able to accommodate me with an early check in, because it was too early to do anything else there. They said they most certainly would, if they had rooms available. I found this to be fair and that is why I went ahead with my booking. After I got here, due to the seat recliner on the bus not working, I had a terrible backache and also a pretty bad headache. I asked the front desk person to check me in and be initially point blank refused. I was confused so I asked him if there were no rooms available. He said there were rooms available but he would not check me in because check in time was 4 hours later. And I would have to pay for an extra day if I wanted to check in at that time. Can you believe this? I explained my situation to him about how I was in pain and not feeling good and just needed to rest and that I had contacted the hotel well in advance to confirm this - yet he wouldn’t. Now keep in mind, this hotel is on its own island and 15 min drive away from Puno. There is literally nothing to do here and the only place of service is the hotel itself. There are also no taxis available ever here. If you want a taxi, you need to ask the front desk to call for one - and it takes 10-15 minutes after they call the taxi as well. And where would I even go at 6am with nothing open? So basically this person expected me to sit at the front desk for 4 hours until it was ‘officially’ check in time. This when I was in pain and he could clearly see it on my face. 2. Anyway, so finally when his treatment of me literally made me cry and I told him for the 5th time that I was not feeling well, he panicked and said he would see what he could do. He called 2-3 people and was on the phone for a good 15 minutes after which he finally agreed to check me in. He did not tell me anything at all, about the amenities or anything else. I asked him what time breakfast starts and where it was and he refused to tell me. I really didn’t have the energy to argue (though I was really puzzled about why he wouldn’t tell me where breakfast was going to be served) but I didn’t think much of it then. Once I checked in, and napped for a bit and felt a little better, I called the front desk to ask (again) where the breakfast area was because I was hungry and still had a headache and because like I mentioned before - this hotel is the only place of service on this island. It was a little after 9:00am and this time it was a lady who picked up and when I asked her about breakfast, she said she wouldn’t tell me before 10am (my original check in time) and if I wanted that information and wanted breakfast, I’d need to pay. I was seriously astounded by this. How greedy is this place? Ive traveled to 28 countries and have mostly stayed at 5 star hotels. In a few places, I’ve also stayed at smaller hotels and AirBnBs and I can imagine a small little hotel behaving in this manner and asking for money for every little thing, but this place? They call themselves a 5 star hotel and behave like classless greedy people? I’m sorry but no. This is not the way the staff should behave in a 5 star hotel and I told the lady on the phone this as well. I clearly told her that their greedy attitude had ticked me off and I’d rather starve than keep throwing money at them. She was more than fine with that, and hung up on me. Would also like to mention - that yes, hotels have Check in times, but it not always possible to align your arrival time to the hotel check in time and I’ve checked in a little earlier several times in several different 5 star hotels and they are so gracious about it. THAT is customer service - everyone understands that people can’t time their arrival to the T in this manner. If I had arrived an entire day in advance, I can understand this behavior, but 4 hours?!! When they also had availability? I have literally never seen this before in my life. 3. Carlos (the Concierge desk person) recommended a Sunset experience, so I signed up for it. It was quite expensive (120 soles per person) and I registered for it. Now once we got to the setup, 20 minutes were lost because there was some big group singing songs. I have no idea what was going on, but basically we could not go to the setup due to this group. Finally after they were done, the server rushed me to my setup and then walked away. I barely got another 15-20 minutes after which the Sun set. After the server left, nobody came to check on me to even see if I needed water, another blanket or anything else. I stayed there for a long time and there was so much food that I couldn’t finish all at once, so I wanted to take it up to my room after it got dark. I kept waiting and waiting for someone to come over, but no one did. So I literally had to carry 2 heavy plates all by myself, up to my room and I left the remaining because I just couldn’t carry it up with me. I was disgusted, but considering everything I went through before, I had zero expectations from these people. I mean firstly - since I lost half the time because of whatever event was happening, they should have reimbursed at least half the amount I paid for this experience. Of course considering how greedy they are, I am not surprised they did not do that. But then to not even come and check on someone sitting outside in the cold? Negative 100 points for Customer Service. 4. On the day I was checking out, I had an early morning tour, so I kept my bags at the front desk and I clearly told them to have the receipt ready, at a certain time when I got back from the tour as I had to leave for the airport and was cutting it close, so did not have any time to waste. I could have missed my flight if I did not hurry, so I emphasized this to them 3 times and they asked me not to worry. When I got back from the tour, the front desk lady was talking to another customer and I was getting super late. At first, not wanting to be rude, I just waited but they were literally just having a casual conversation about nothing time pressing, so I apologized for cutting in and asked this front desk lady to just hand over my receipt so I could leave for the airport as I was getting late. She was rude to me and asked me to wait, and after 10 minutes of waiting when she finally got to me, she said the receipt was not ready and would take time. I had nothing to say to her at this point, so I just left. Thankfully, Carlos (the concierge desk person) reached out to me via text later, to ensure I was on my way to the airport and if the tour went fine - so I told him about the receipts issue. I didn’t even ask him to, but he immediately got on it, and sent me the receipts in the next 30 minutes. And that’s how I finally got my hotel receipts. It wasn’t even his job, but I can say one thing - if there is anyone that understands what Customer Service means, in that ridiculous hotel, it is Carlos. After all this, will I ever stay here again? NO. The staff here completely disappointed me with their greedy attitude, their lack of professionalism and their crude behavior and I don’t care for it. What went well? The two shining bright stars at this property are - 1. Carlos, the person who sits in the Concierge office. He was the only person who truly had the intention to help, in this godforesaken hotel. He was professional, respectful and was the only person who actually properly helped me figure out what to do during my time there, as well as helped to book my transport to the hotel. When the front desk people were being unprofessional about my bill at check out, he helped sort out that as well. Thank You, Carlos - for all of your help. 2. The bell man (and I wish I had written down his name so I could remember) who helped carry my bags to my room when the front desk people finally gave me a room to check into. He saw the way the front desk person treated me and how upset I was, and I could see it in his face how bad he felt and he literally didn’t let me carry anything as he knew I wasn’t feeling well. As soon as we reached my room, he asked me to sit down and rest and that he would put my bags in place. If there was one person truly empathetic and courteous in this hotel, it was this person.
