Amazon planet made our visit to the Amazon very personalised and memorable. Our tour guide Luis was very knowledgeable and his English vocabulary was so extensive he could answer any question we had about the animals or the jungle with so much detail. The activities were all well planned. My favourites were the jungle walks including the night walk and our visit to the animal rescue centre. All meals were included and they were all amazing. They also took care to provide meals that suit dietary requirements and preferences. I’d definitely recommend Amazon Planet to anyone looking to visit the Peruvian Amazon.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Peru. We stayed 3 nights/4 days in the jungle eco lodge and it was a fascinating and unique experience from start to finish. Everything was taken care of from our arrival at the airport in Puerto Maldonado to our departure. Highlights included the canopy walk (amazing views of the birds), the nighttime caiman spotting, the trip to the lake, the visit to the animal rescue centre, the sunset canoe trip - in fact the whole thing. I was also pleasantly surprised that we had no problems with biting insects - although we still took precautions. Our guide and other staff were excellent and the food was good. A great experience!

Whenever I fall into my mid-lecture day-dreams (you know, as one does), I sometimes picture myself journeying through the jungle, drinking tree sap to survive. While this Amazon Planet excursion won’t push you to your survival limits, it’s certainly a thrilling jungle experience! Our 3 night stay was packed with activities. Our very knowledgeable guide, Alejandro, walked us through the rainforest teaching us about its flora and fauna and the animals which inhabit the area. We also canoed around a tranquil lake (with a circumference of about 3km), spotting some unusual birds. Although we didn’t see any otters (the main attraction), we did end up spotting a caiman (type of South American alligator), rounding off the ride on a high. However, it is worth mentioning that the boat trip could’ve been slightly shorter. Spending 4 hours on a jungle boat (for lack of a better name), with no back support and plenty mosquitos to keep you company, can prove quite exhausting. My favourite activity was reaching the canopy (a viewing deck mounted on top of a giant tree). To do so, we walked across a 43m high suspension bridge, surrounded by dense trees and the sounds of red howler monkeys and various species of bird. We were able to take some beautiful photos and just enjoy the vast expanse of jungle before us! The staff were also very accommodating. In one particular instance, when my family and I missed the activity of floating down the river (admittedly because we “over-siesta’d”), our guide Alejandro organized for us to do the activity the next day. The food was also great. We were treated to eggs and fruit in the morning, followed by various three course meals for lunch and dinner. Our boat driver (Saúl) was also very skilled, navigating us through the Amazon waters with ease. However to season the aforementioned with a pinch of salt, there are a few caveats worth mentioning: 1. Towels are not replaced daily. Since we were there during the rainy season, this was a tricky one. 2. My pair of rain-boots had a hidden crack which I only realized while walking through a deep puddle. Be sure to examine your boots meticulously before making them your own at the start of the trip. 3. There is no WiFi or cellular signal (which was actually wonderful, so I don’t know why I’ve included that here). Overall, this was an experience I will never forget. The trip seems suitable for people of all ages, as long as you are willing and able to walk a lot! I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

We had the best time here even though we were nervous about going to the jungle at first. Everything was amazing from beginning to end. We were met at the airport even though our flight was delayed, given transport to the office, and then given transport to the lodge. They were very responsive when I was worried about our delayed flight to Puerto Maldonado which was a huge relief. Our bungalow was great and no bugs whatsoever inside which was a huge surprise. It was so relaxing being able to disconnect and just wake up to the sounds of rain and nature. Our guide Ale was the best and made our entire experience. Super knowledgeable, found the smallest of animals, and always made sure I was ok and comfortable. He was super easy to talk to and even helped me pass the time on walks by teaching me some Spanish. The highlight of our trip was just drifting down the river in the rain with him – surreal!

Our entire experience where was absolutely amazing. The friendliness of the people who work there made us feel like we were a part of their family. Jas Manny was welcoming and accommodating. The cleanliness of our lodge was impeccable and the food was phenomenal! Our tour guide, Alejandro, was friendly and knowledgeable of everything. It is clear that he is passionate about his job as he was engaged in everything we did. The tours were fun and informative. We loved exploring the jungle and looking for wildlife from the boat. The rescue centre warmed our hearts seeing all the sweet animals there, learning their new skills so they are able to thrive on their own in the wild. We will definitely return. ~~ With regards to the first question, the hotel does not offer a breakfast buffet, but a hearty breakfast is included.
