My partner and I stayed here for a few nights while visiting Taboga island. The proprietors, Hiddo and Cynthia are lovely! Very accommodating, excellent knowledge of the island, and they run a delicious restaurant down by the beach as well that we went to dinner at every night. If we needed anything beyond the basics, they were always willing to work something out with enough heads up. This is not a luxury resort experience, but it is a lovely and affordable place to take in Taboga. The rooms were totally fine, A/C was perfectly cold, shower was fine but no great shakes, but if you're staying at an eco lodge and expecting more, that's on you - this delivers as a fantastic eco lodge! Breakfasts were SO tasty! The pool is teeny tiny and very chilly, which was perfect for the hot days. The hammocks are wonderful places to relax or nap. Great place, great people, highly recommended!…
I spent the weekend here with my family, amazing house with amazing views only 3min walk to the beaches and restaurants! The couple running it were lovely and very helpful, they have a separate restaurant with fantastic food and amazing cocktails.
We were very excited to come to this property as per the website pictures, reviews and that the owner, Cynthia, is a Canadian, like us. The pictures on the website are mostly what is factual, however our room was not at all acceptable . It was very dark; bed was uncomfortable; there were only four hooks to hang our clothes - no closet, no coat hangers; no dresser; no vanity or anywhere to put our toiletries; hand marks on the walls; cracked tiles in the shower; no light in the vanity area; toilet was not cleaned properly, and NO MAID service to clean after we checked in and we were there for two overnights. Our room key was left in the office everyday, so there was no excuse for the maid not to clean. The overall cleanliness of the room was average. There are no toiletries supplied in the room except for toilet paper and hand soap at the vanity. The toilet seat was the wrong seat for the toilet that it overlapped the toilet base and was not a proper fit.…
The room we choose was on the second floor looking out at the pool and ocean. From our private balcony, we were able to watch all the boats waiting on the canal from the comfort of a hammock. Both owners of the property were super friendly, and fun to talk with. The rooms were very clean and well maintained which shows that they care deeply about their property. Being a small town it was easy to get around by walking and the locals living there were always friendly. I highly recommend staying at this hotel and also checking out the restaurant they own closer to the beach.
We loved this hotel! It was the last stop of our 10 day visit to Panama. Our hosts, Cynthia and Hiddo were very helpful. We upgraded to the suite and had a wonderful view of the bay. The plunge pool was very refreshing. We had Cynthia's awesome pizza one night, delish! Cold drinks were offered to us as soon as we checked in. Hiddo prepared a lovely breakfast for us on our last day. I highly recommend the Cerrito Tropical Eco Lodge.
Cerrito Tropical Eco Lodge is an ABSOLUTE MUST when visiting Taboga Island. It was recommended that I visit while in Panama and I was not disappointed! To coordinate the trip I worked with the owner, Cynthia! She is an exceptional host! She provided instructions on how to secure our ferry ride tickets and made sure that we were greeted by a guest driver when we arrived. When we arrived to the lodge she extended a warm welcome by escorting us (my partner and I) to our room. We had the 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment and let me tell you, THE VIEWS ARE AMAZING! It also had a lovely hammock on the balcony! It was so relaxing to lay in it and just take in nature! When she finished with helping us get our luggage situated, she then gave us a tour around the lodge. When that was done she suggested that we check out her restaurant Callaloo Beach, Fishbar and Grill! This is where here awesome counterpart Hiddo is! He too is amazing! My partner and I are veganish/vegetarian and they made us wonderful meals with some substitutes! I insist that everyone go there and eat! We had the pita and warm hummus! Oh it was so fresh and did I mention warm?! LIKE THE BEST HUMMUS EVER! We also had fish tacos, THE FRIED SNAPPER and we did a Fish Burger!!! So so so good! They also make pizza on a wood fire stove! I wish we had more time to try it but I’d definitely suggest to stop there! The food is great! Especially because the views from the restaurant are great or you can sit outside and eat not too far from the water! The atmosphere of Cerrito Tropical Eco Lodge is very inviting and feels like you are home! Both Cynthia and Hiddo have an amazing set of staff members who work there as well and what I enjoyed is that you can tell that they all enjoy working together! Last but not least, the lodge has fruit trees! My boyfriend literally threw rocks at the trees to get us fresh mangoes for breakfast and they were sweet! She also has moringa leaves that grow in the garden and she used them to make fresh tea! This place is unique, inviting and one of a kind! Do yourself a favor and book at Cerrito Tropical Eco Lodge!…
Taboga Island has quite a few options for lodging, however for the "best bang for your buck" I recommend Cerrito Tropical. We were treated super kindly by the owners who allowed us to set up for a surprise birthday party for another guest! The rooms offer an amazing view of the island. If you are into hiking, it's located near the treck to "Cerro Cruz" which offers a fantastic view of the island. Rooms were in excellent condition, and as someone who suffers from allergies, I was very pleasantly surprised to find no dust nor allergens that caused a reaction. Looking forward to my next stay!
Perfect place to relax Cinthia an Hido great hostess definitely I’ll return. At night is so relaxing we enjoyed our 3 nights. We don’t have any complaints everything was nice. Great Sea view from the balcony
This is a very comfortable and relaxing place attended by their owners which are such a nice couple to stablish conversation with. Their food is just delicious, give them a try!!! There is a beautiful beach just 5 minutes away on foot.
Nice clean room with a seaview balcony on a beautiful hill. Very good service and friendly straff. Excellent breakfast. The wifi was surprisingly good! The owner also owns the restaurant callaloo down at the beach wich is the best place to eat.
