Good things: - Long beach to walk - pools to enjoy - unlimited food and drinks - Discotek at night by the beach Bad things: - High prices and the rooms look cheap and not stylish - Too many kids everywhere - Food option limited - Overall the hotel need lot of work, doesn't feel like a real luxurious resort
Please Please please If you are thinking of booking a family vacation here DO NOT. I do not know who rated this resort as a 4 star.....it's a 2 star at best. No one speaks English making it extremely difficult to communicate with staff. Buffet is a joke. 2 stations serving the exact same things. 2 restaurants are included byt the only one open seemed to be the Italian. There is a pay restaurant by the beach. Rooms are extremely outdated. When we first arrived we were put in the town centers. Moldy shower head, Moldy air conditioner vents, the TV did not shut off, safe was not working. Got moved to a new room. Shower leaks onto the floor near toilet. The safes batteries were being held in by duck tape. 3 times we had to call security up to have them open it. Wifi is spotty and if you have to call front desk for anything you have to use WhatsApp on your phone. Good luck with that when you cant connect half the time. Thursday through Tuesday the hotel is taken over by locals which makes lines really really long at the bars, buffets and finding a pool chair. Since none of the staff speak English and they cater to the locals all the night shows as well as kid shows are in Spanish. The only 2 staff that made this place somewhat bare able were Julio and Marytel at the front reception. They did their best to speak English and were the only kind and helpful staff at this resort. I was booked here through a mixup when reading the reviews on this place I tried to take it with a grain of salt. NO these people were telling the truth.…
Reading all the reviews I got a little nervous coming here…I always looked at it as I have never been to Panama so I’ll make the best of it.. Check in was a breeze, not alot of people so it was quick and easy, One person spoke very little English but it was fine….we stayed in the Tower Centre overlooking the lagoon room 601 …was pleasantly surprised how clean the room was and the view was breathtaking…..walking to the main area where the pool, beach and restaurants are was maybe a 10 minute walk not really that far at all…Food in the buffet area was good, always had something different each night, we ate at the Italian and Seafood restaurant very good, especially the Italian one…first day by the pool thought I would have to get up at 730 to grab chairs that was not the case, people don’t start coming down til at least 8-8:30 a.m so no need to rush….not much action by the pool during the day only exercise that’s it, which is fine by me. Went to the lagoon, that somewhat was a disappointment, you need to go on other side of lagoon as the side closest to the Tower is for people that have purchased, but you can enter just further down the beach. Maintenance around the grounds, during the week have seen someone always picking up plates, cups, garbage left by locals…kept the grounds very clean…pool area was always clean, pool scrubbed and cleaned every morning…but do suggest they do a hard clean on the pool as it’s starting to show wear…went to do an excursion called Monkey Island, that was a lot of fun highly recommend. Night shows are all in Spanish makes it hard to understand but you get the just of it….ALOT of kids found out it was their summer break again no big deal….the only thing I wasn’t impressed by was the local Panama people come and overtake the resort on the weekends…makes it very crowded hard to find chairs….and buffet becomes a bit overcrowded at times….overall it was a great first time experience in Panama and am pleasantly surprised. Staff are very friendly that want to be, some, if they don’t speak English they will ignore you. But there are few of those…google Translate becomes your go to app 😊 side note if you are planning to do any excursions I would recommend you purchasing them on the plane as they are cheaper…We went to the beach, not really beach people but went to see and it was nice and clean.…
A bit of a dated resort, Could use some maintenance upgrades. Only 7 minutes from the Rio HATO airport, Sun Wing and Air Transat are the only airlines that fly there. If you fly into Panama City it’s a 2 hour bus ride after a 5.5 hr flight, Clean rooms nothing special and always had gardening staff and cleaner’s out and about keeping grounds neat and tidy. Small resort so not a busy place, except for weekends and about 250 rooms which has its advantages. One large buffet with an excellent and friendly staff to get you drinks. Food was good lots of chicken and pork. À la carte Italian restaurant was great. Kids pool with slides and another large pool with swim up bar. Many locals frequent the hotel on the weekends. So there were lots of local kids at both pools. Outdoor Bar adjacent to the pool was opened late and served nachos and burger’s between 9:30 and 10:30 pm. Liquor selection is poor, Rum, Vodka and Gin no whiskey or Brandy. Entertainment was geared to the local kids, same show every night. And quite boring I might add. Nice beach but it takes about 5 minutes to walk to the ocean. Hot hot hot. Several activities offered for a price to all the hotels along that stretch of beach. Horseback riding, skidoo, boat rides and friendly vendors along the beach. Not pushy folks I found the Panamanians friendly but not many spoke English. Spanish is their language in their country. We managed to communicate. Looking for an inexpensive trip this is it. $3100 per couple Looking for above average resort this is NOT for you. It is slightly below average, I would rate it a 3.0* out of 5*.…
I have never posted a review before but I had to for this place. The positives are the resort grounds, pools and beach are beautiful. The staff at the restaurant work extremely hard in difficult conditions, The concerige staff could care less to assist in any way. However, the worst was the total lack of food. Advertise 4 restaurants- 1 was closed for renovations, mid week the 2nd restaurant closed. Leaving one restaurant open at night with the exact same menu every single night or the seaside grill serving left over food mostly from the day before NO BUFFETS , very few choices really like one would know. Breakfast is the same every day - little choices - waitied 5 days - for yogurt- if you want bacon you have to ask and thy bring it from the back in a small bowl. Salad at lunch- maybe 4 options but usually the one iceburg green salad was gone early. NO grill station, most food they put a sauce on it to cover up they are using tough dried meat, there are always steamed vegetables which have been reheated multiple times -( faint green vs bright green) no fresh grilled food ever. If you were a vegetarin or vegan- forget this place. Even if you like fresh fish or fresh anything. We were a perfered member- even there the food was cold as it sits all day in the steam pots- cold coffee and ?hot water in carafes- never changed out during the day. The infused water in the gym brought in once a day- never refilled - for a 0530 workout still the old 1/2 filled water from the day before. Totally diasppointed after a 2 +year wait to travel post COVID. DO not spend your hard earned money here. I could go on with multiple examples of food experiences we had- but it all comes done to lack of food and what food they have, there are very few choices, lack variety or options for being there a week- repeat menu's. limited al a carte when they did have one (see picture below)-not sure if they are trying to save money, or can't get food, or now that Hyatt has bought it they are in transition. There were more people trying to sell(time share/type products) then people in the lobby to help you. Our a/c was so noisy in our room (we were on the 5th floor) when we called our family at home they wondered what that awful noise was. Smelled like black mold in our friends room. You could see the black mold outside on the eavestroughs. The sand flies were awful- the hotel does give out repellent to put on, even with that we still had multiple bites on our legs. Have stayed at multiple all inclusives- this was the first one we spent more on taxi's at a cost of ($25.00 US one way)and resturants in Panaman city in order to have a good meal. My advice is to find a different place to stay if you are coming to Panama…
How may I begin? This hotel is the worst hotel in the world from checking to check out. I was you happy to go to this hotel because I was having a lot of the things about this hotel and I had to experience for myself so when I got to Panama I went directly to this hotel and we got there before a check and they had us wait until 3 o’clock before we could have any type of access to the hotel and get a room and we walked up to the rooms and everything was horrible. Terrible from bathroom being broken, dirty from the bet, she being staying, having high drapes, not looking professional, with patio furniture, being broken and the chair for the desk, being completely dirty, with stains from the backboard of your bed, being completely dirty and stain and holes everywhere with spiderwebs everywhere , and the food was horrible as well with no type of choices of food from not having anything typical from Panama when you travel to a country, you would like to try their cuisine. I would never recommend this hotel. Anybody coming in from another country or even the people from panama. I get this hotel a five star for being the worst hotel ever that I stayed at the only good thing about this was the horseback riding that I did but the only bad thing was it wasn’t even part of the hotel. It was a private owner company. Never again. this hotel is a big disgrace and me being Panamanian. I hate to say that this hotel is even here.…
The Playa Blanca is about 2 hours drive from the Major Airport and about the same time to Panama City. The staff though they did not speak any English, were wonderful. Rooms were clean. I have one gripe, in order to get a beach towel you have to present a "Towel card". Annoying as no one want to worry about towels on vacation. The resort provided very good entertainment every night and late into the night. It was varied to suit all ages. The restaurants that you have to wait in line to get seated if they have a seat available is not worth it, the food was blah.. The Balboa restaurant (the main buffet) provided the usual all inclusive fare as most hotels. The beach is certainly not the Turks and Caicos beach, but it is calm. The water has a lot of debris but it is what it is. Good experience and would stay here again.…
Already put one review up as we are here now 18th July forgot to say in first review we have been here since the 12th not had bed changed and so far only changed towns once not seen cleaners near our room. Then today seen the young waiter ESSQLEK. Who was leaving today as other staff said he did not work excuse me him and magel was the friendliest here the hotel should sort this out and keep him on other waiting staff are rude do not speak then at the pool bar got new girl who can not speak English ask for large beer get coffee as for 3 cokes get 3 fantas bloody stupid when they have essqlek
Bad rooms, mosquitoes everywhere. I booked for two rooms for 5 days and they booked them at different spaces and didn’t even accommodate for the people staying in the room. But when we went and complained they magically had a room… And no water!! they apparently give 3 water bottles every two days😑 you can do the math for your company. My bad decision, choose yours.
This was our first trip with my husband and we truly enjoyed ourselves. The staff at Playa Blanca make your stay even better. Although they spoke very little English, it was not that hard to communicate what we needed or ask any questions we had. They are all very friendly, polite, respectful, and helpful individuals. We stayed for a week and made a good connection with one of the bartenders at the pool, José. He is truly an amazing person that can make some good drinks and will keep your spirits up. As for our room, we had the deluxe family room with two queen-size beds and a view looking out at the pool with the slides. We were able to control the AC, had a TV, WIFI (throughout the resort), a safe, a closet to hang clothes if needed, a mini-fridge and a clean bathroom. But our phone did not work for some reason so any questions we had to go to the front desk or ask one of the workers. Our towels would get replaced every day by the cleaning staff and they would ask if we were in our room if we would like our room cleaned which was quite nice. For the pool area, they give you towels if you give them your towel card so they can keep track of the towels they provide and when you're done using it, they will give back your towel card. The pool is kept quite clean. Although, sometimes there will be some small leaves in the pool or sand at the bottom of the pool as you walk. They have slides that are quite fast when you go down them but are enjoyable. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi was not working when we were there but overall, their pools are just like the pictures that we shown and nice. The food provided was breakfast, lunch and dinner at specific frames times of the day that they give you when you check-in and between them is when the snack bar is open which is usually nachos, hot dogs or a burger. They have a variety of food during the day and would change it up every day. They did have an Italian restaurant for dinner that included appetizers, main course and dessert. You had to book beforehand on the day of and was FREE. They do provide unlimited alcohol and their entertainment is quite consistent throughout the day. They have some stretches in the pool during the day, a performance of the workers dancing and a talent show every night. There are a variety of excursions available at the resort such as jetsking, ATVing, horseback riding, kayaking and many more. Also outside of the resort which is usually with a tour guide. Both do come with a cost in USD and vary for all. For the excursions at the resort, there is a pamphlet and outside, you can ask the front desk for help. As for some feedback, the signs of the food at the buffet could include some English as we were not sure if a food dish was pork or beef. The cleanliness of the sand at the bottom of the pool could be improved. On the Sunwing website, the photos are outdated and need more photos to justify the great resort. Overall, our trip was an 8/10 and thank you to the workers that made our stay enjoyable, and George from Sunwing who was a fantastic tour guide that was available whenever we needed him.…
