The hotel is in one of the suburbs of Colon, which is a good thing. Downtown Colon is the pits, though they are making an effort to clean it up. The hotel has a great swimming pool and sits on a peninsula. Not really much to do at the hotel other than to swim. The breakfast was included in the...

We enjoyed the good food and drinks in the "all inclusive" package. The only one working hard (and with a big smile) in the restaurant was little Ana, and the hotel needs more employees like her. The hotel management also has to invest on improving the instalations and bring them up to the "Melia" standards.

The hotel is a nice old brick and mortar building. However, there is a very loud disco on the bottom floor that plays way too loud on the weekend. My father's room was directly above it and he couldn't sleep until they stopped playing around 2400. Besides that, the facilities are a little dated and the hotel service (minus the...

Old School of the Americas building constructed c. 1963. It needs several upgrades today, but is well located and secure and safe place in an area in some distress. No coffee maker in room: no ice bucket, no safe in room 1111, but one in 1121. TV & frig, OK. 1111 is room over the lounge or bar or some...

After driving thru downtown Colon (by error) we finally reversed direction and followed the signs. This is a converted school/HQ/and hospital building which was the HQ of the US Army Southern Command from 1914 thru 1999 when the US turned over the Canal Zone to the Panama people. Its on a section of Lake Gatun in a beautiful area. Nice...

Chose Melia Panama Canal because of location in order to be closer to nature. The room and room service are very good. The buffet style restaurant is good. The staff are more then willing to be helpful if you need something.

My wife remembers coming to this hotel several years ago when she was in high school. She said it was way better before. The service is not as good as it used to be. The programs and activities the hotel once had are no longer available. The food is not as good as it used to be.

Starting with the check in, the person at the desk was extremely rude. The hotel had supposedly lost our (confirmed) reservation, and we were kept waiting for more than an hour while the "people from reservations" looked it up. Once we got into the rooms, we were dismayed to find no water bottles, the air conditioning was not working and...

I visited Meliá Panama Canal from 11/5/16-11/7/16 and again from 11/11/16-11/13/16. Let me start by saying that I have travel to many hotels that offer all inclusive option all over the Caribbean and this experience was by far the worst I have ever experienced. First of all all the all inclusive at this Meliá hotel was garbage, their all inclusive...

This is a renovated military barracks that was well done. Very large with a couple of large pools. However, the wifi did not work in the room. The staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive. Had to leave after only one night. Disappointing.
