My family and I just came back from this hidden jewel in Colon. Nice ambiance, rooms were fantastic and people around the dinning/customer service were super friendly. We did enjoy the hotel facilities and the flexibility of an all inclusive plan that you can buy day by day , gave us the opportunity to visit Panama City( the NEW and Old Casco), Miraflores, Aguas Claras, Albrook, First Original Panama city, "Museo de la Biodiversidad", "Isla de Monos" among sightseing thru our route. the Hotel is an Old Historic Building (Escuela de las Americas) but with the enchantment of a relaxing fresh tropical Hotel. REGRESAMOS... (we will be back).

If you should find yourselves looking for lodging in the Colon area, Melia is a fascinating choice: a beautiful building with extensive grounds that at the very least offer some great wildlife watching. Check out its history as the former School of the Americas as a lesson in American "diplomacy"--rough though the history is, it gives a deeper understanding of Central America.

This lovely hotel has an interesting history as it once served as the School of the Americas. It has been furnished with beautiful pieces of art from days gone by. The rooms are spacious, the pool gorgeous, and the breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets provided many delicious choices. Overall a great place to stay in the area

This hotel is a historical building with an interesting past as a hospital and a military school. It sits by the Gatun lake and the area is worth a visit. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the view over the lake is very nice and the grounds lush and exotic. The personnel was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our stay.

My girlfriend and I had a nice girls night stay at the Melia. This was my 5th stay. We like it because of the all inclusive, the food is delicious. The pool is gigantic and clean. The grounds are well manicured. It is a very quiet place to go and relax and chill out. The times we have been there (off season times) there are very few guests...which we like. No loud music, just lots of places to sit, paths to walk and right on lake Gatun. If you are looking for a partying place, I have not seen it here. Not a whole lot of tourist things to do except Gatun locks and Fort Lorenzo but we go to relax and we will be back.
