I completely echo the other January 2023 review. This was a perfect location to relax and to take advantage of the activities around Boquete. An unexpected bonus was the small restaurant on site which prepared beautiful, tasteful and reasonably priced meals. It’s an easy walk into town during the daytime, but without sidewalks we chose to take $5 taxi rides (or less, if you use yellow cabs) into and back from dinner.
We rented out the entire Haven Spa Resort for our wedding and had our family stay there with us the whole weekend, so we got to see almost all of the rooms. They have options for everyone. Small rooms, suites with garden patios, smaller stand-alone homes on the property next door for more privacy and freedom to cook, as well as the absolutely fabulous presidential suite, which includes a huge balcony, living room, kitchen, 2 bd 2.5 bth, with big tub & sauna. When you arrive to the Haven you feel at peace in nature, though it is located just one mile from center downtown Boquete. The masseuses for spa treatments, Fatima & Angelica, are amazing. The grounds offer multiple hot tubs jacuzzis, pool with jet swimmer, gym, full schedule of yoga and workout classes. The breakfasts are delicious and include your own french press coffee or fresh squeezed orange juice. The best part is the staff who did everything to make our stay beyond amazing. They were so sweet and accommodating to our entire group. I cannot recommend this beautiful location enough! I’m tempted to do another staycation there soon even though I live only 10 minutes away :)…
I have traveled the world. Been to some of the finest hotels. I like this hotel best! It is a boutique hotel only 8 rooms. The owner greets you and gives you a ginger shot - which is the most deliciously ginger spiced drink. The haven has a workout gym that is beautifully empty with Latino music playing. It has sauna. 2 jacuzzi one outside one inside , steam and sauna and an indoor pool. The spa was fantastic and so reasonably priced - I had a treatment every day. The grounds are beautiful and inviting to sit outside. They organized trips o do in the area and suggested great restaurants- but I still like our lunch at the hotel the best. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Boquete is a fun place, but this hotel makes the visit perfect. Trips to hot springs try to go on a rainy or cooler day - so hot. I loved the coffee tour they put us on. It was a coffee tasting like a wine tasting. So much fun. Perfect visit- great hotel.…
The Haven is a world unto itself! My partner and I stayed just two nights in one of the garden suites: Spacious, well equipped, and an especially pleasant terrace with table and chairs and water features. This boutique property is about ½ mile south of town, and getting into town is easy on foot or by taxi. We elected not to have a rental car, so we arrived at The Haven in a taxi from the David Airport—about $35 one way. There are many things to like about The Haven: —Very friendly and helpful staff. They are clearly dedicated to making your stay a pleasant one. —The Garden Suite is supremely comfortable and physically separate from the main building. This enhances the feeling of being in your own little world. A/C is effective and quiet, though it’s equally nice to have the two sets of patio doors open and create cross ventilation. Our room came equipped with a moderately-sized flat screen TV and a Samsung sound bar and subwoofer, neither of which we used. —The split level gym is one of the best I’ve seen in any hotel: Treadmills, elliptical, rower, and recumbent and Peleton-like bikes are all in top notch condition. —Complementary continental breakfast supplemented by a small selection of a la carte items including avocado toast, an American-style breakfast, and others. The quality of food and presentation are instagrammable. No real downsides! This would be a fantastic property anywhere, but it’s especially fitting in the already beautiful environment of Boquete.…
My mom and I stayed at The Haven for three nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff was super attentive and answered all our numerous questions. The facilities are perfect for a hotel of this size. Small swimming pool, various jacuzzis and sauna. Couples should be aware that the Sauna is in the changing room so you may not spend this time together : ). We had a massage which was of top quality, the Massause did a great job with both of us. Lovely breakfast and secluded but central location. We loved the towels in our rooms, supper fluffy! My only comment goes to housekeeping who changed our towels daily despite us not putting them on the floor (unnecessary waste).
5 days and nights at The Haven was an experience that exceeded our expectations! A botique Inn with just 9 rooms. The staff is warm and friendly, engaging, very professional and knowledgeable, yet discreet and not hovering. They met our every need. The facilities are extremely clean. The massages we had were the best we have ever experienced! The breakfasts are stellar! The grounds immaculate and gorgeous. Very private yet close to everything. We were just thrilled! The room we had featured a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a couple of place settings and wine glasses to boot! Parking was right outside our door in the private carport! We are going to make it a Thanksgiving tradition to go there every year and probably a few times in between. We just loved it. Not a bad word to say about it. Note this is an adults only spa.…
We just spent six nights at The Haven hotel and spa. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish and we will stay there again. The location cannot be beat. Less than five minutes to downtown, yet far enough away to be removed from the hustle and bustle. The grounds are gorgeous and meticulously maintained. Breakfast is served either inside or outside overlooking the beautiful gardens. Our room was large, comfortable, clean, and had both a ceiling fan and air conditioning. Perhaps the biggest asset The Haven has are their employees. The girls at the front desk are friendly, polite, and want to make your stay perfect. Breakfast was fresh and served by more friendly people. Even the staff you pass on the grounds would always smile and say hello. My husband and I treated ourselves to massages and they were also top-notch. But their team went so far “above and beyond”when my husband and I had a flat tire on Volcancito Road. I had problems with my phone and was unable to call a tow truck for assistance. I WhatsApped The Haven and asked them to call the tow truck for us. But instead they sent two of their own staff! In fact, I recognized one of them as the young man who served us breakfast! They took it all in stride, but it was very meaningful to us. I highly recommend The Haven and we will definitely stay there again. Hopefully, next time, we will have more time to enjoy the grounds, the gym, and more spa treatments.…
FYI before I posted this, I sent it to the hotel for comment or to refute anything. I received no response. Below is exactly what I sent them, followed by a few more thoughts I have had since. —- Disastrous new management. I have stayed at this hotel probably 15 times since it opened. I was concerned when I came to the hotel earlier this year on pretty much the day the new management took over, but everything seemed fine. That changed on this visit. We stayed in the best room, the garden suite which advertises a kitchen and breakfast included. First thing - the kitchen has had all of its implements removed. Even the kettle for making tea. All that remains is 6 cups and a microwave. There’s a coffee maker with fake nespresso pods but no milk. No teabags - just some weird plantain ones. Two bottles of water. Next - the bathroom is gross. I figured the new management would figure it out - it’s never been great but the other pluses used to make up for it. Not now. One shower scalds you instantly. The other is calcified and gross. And the towels have gone from normal soft bath size to tiny little things. But the biggest insult is the breakfast. Before it was delivered to the room so you could sit in solitude on the patio and enjoy the view with a nice juice, coffee, fresh fruit, eggs, cereal and a friendly on time delivery. Now… a blatant rip-off and of terrible quality. And pricey! Sure there’s a so called continental breakfast which is a tiny plate of a few odds and ends, hardly a breakfast from any continent I’m aware of. That’s included. You have to wait 30 minutes for it though. In a room with lots of other people because it’s no longer served in the lovely patio. The scam comes in when they offer you juice. Any other place I’ve ever stayed wouldn’t just scam you with a $4.50 juice (in Panama!!!) without telling you. This place does. And it gets worse, the lids to the (admittedly very tasty) marmalade were sticky, dirty and gross. I’m incredibly annoyed because this place has been our home in boquete and I feel I can never return. Nor do I recommend that you do either until the new owner fixes the numerous issues and starts being a bit generous to his guests. There are much better places in boquete. Stay at one of them. —- So that’s what I sent them. Beyond that, let’s add: - 10 minutes of them on walkie-talkies trying to figure out if I was lying about the fact that I hadn’t been told that my bitter, bad-tasting juice had a price of $4.50. $9 for two terrible drinks we didn’t really want! And no, we hadn’t been told that. - The almost comically unhappy agreement that they couldn’t fleece us for this. At no point was there an apology. - The fact that someone who looked a lot like the owner watched this going down and did nothing. - All this and the prices are not less - in fact they have gone up, without taking into account the breakfast rip-off. I truly loved this place before in spite of its flaws. Sure, the wifi internet is terrible - and still is - and sure the bathrooms are awful - and still are. But having breakfast on a beautiful patio makes up for a lot of that. To have it taken away and replaced by such a crass rip-off is insulting. I encourage you to find another place to stay.…
Had a very good facial and excellent masssage. Natalie was very knowledgeable and adjusted pressure to my needs. Would highly recommend the Haven. All very professional. It is a lovely setting and not far from center of town. I walked there. Very peaceful.
This is a quiet place that feels very restorative. The breakfast that is included is excellent. Katherine is extremely helpful. The room was comfortable and the shower was hot. I love the smell of the toiletries. It is a 3 dollar taxi ride to downtown.
