We stayed here for just one night and lucky it was enough to see some turtles. The place is worth a visit if the plan is only to see the turtles but should exploit the potential to become an even better experience. As a guest we had an evening and a morning tour and in both cases we got to see the turtles and this is great. The morning tour was definitely less crowded and was therefore a better experience (in addition the dawn light allows also some great pictures). The night tour was not that great since (imho) there were too many participants that rushed to see the turtles. Being a reserve I had expected a more limited amount of people on the beach and divided in small groups so not to disturb too much these wonderful creatures. We stayed in one of the tents and despite everything being ok the general impression is that they needed some renovations. In addition when we entered the tent it was hot and smelly. Since it is known in advance when the guests are coming it could be nice to turn on the air conditioning in advance. Finally it is worth to mention the restaurant where we had a good dinner and a nice breakfast. Although being the only available option it was good and with friendly staff.…
We stayed in one of their eco tents and it was a very special stay. We arrived late afternoon and first explored the beautiful beach (not for swimming it is too rough), before heading to the unique accommodation on the hill. The dinner buffet was splendid and the very polite and friendly staff offered great service. With the privilege given to hotel guests, we were the first group to depart to see the turtles. While all day-tourists were driven by minibus we had the option to explore the second beach as an individual group on foot. This made the evening even more special. With the high season, we were tremendously lucky to see many turtles nesting, and laying eggs, as well as baby turtles finding their way to the water. After a good night's rest, while short, on a very comfortable bed, we rose early to enjoy the turtles and sunrise on the beach. One of the massive advantages of staying at the reserve is to be able to enjoy this peaceful morning, as few other tourists venture out this early. The guides were very knowledgeable and shared their passion for the conservation of turtles and their environment and guide expertly to not disturb the turtles. The tents offer all amenities and the staff across the hotel were very friendly. The breakfast buffet offered a wide range of Western, and Arabian choices including fresh fruits. We can only highly recommend a stay at Ras al-Jinz Turtle Reserve for a memorable encounter with nature and its beautiful creatures.…
We spent one night to watch the turtles and it was a lovely experience. Very polite and friendly staff and wonderful weather in the end of August in Oman. Highly recommended and for sure will come back before the end of season. Most important is the turtle watch do not miss it. But make sure to leave your shoes before once you reach the beach I lost my shoes because of this. The hotel is not 5 starts hotel but it clean and worth to stay at.
If you have kids and they insist on seeing these beautiful Reptiles, then this is a safe place and sighting is guaranteed during season. some times you will find them during off season too. staying at the resort is also an option if you cant drive at night
It was an amazing experience. A must visit place. Mr Nasser Al Ghailani, a great guide and he is very keen on showing us every detail. Very professional, friendly and polite staff. The place is well kept and staff guides the tourist well so as not to disturb the turtles
The main reason why you will stay in Raz al Jinz Turtle Reserve is the turtles and the turtles we saw. We knew that March is the low season and despite the fact that the accommodation price included both evening and early morning tours, there was a good chance that we will not see any. But we were really lucky as during the evening tour we saw two females laying their eggs on the beach! What a great experience and special thanks to the guides, they were absolute professionals and perfect storytellers! As we were awarded with this sight, we did not even go to the early morning tour. When we are talking about the lodging then it was not so perfect as the accompanying tour. The main issue was that the attitude of the receptionist was cold and I would even say arrogant, he barely looked at us and forgot the extra pillow we asked for our daughter. It was like he knew that we are here for the turtles and we'll stay here independent what he does or doesn't do (and there won't be many returning guests anyway). I understand that it's a big hotel and there was just one receptionist at that time but still you could smile and welcome your guests in a decent manner. The room itself was quite big, it could use some renovations soon but everything was clean and in general nothing to complain about. By the way, the building was really nice with many interesting features. We also liked the breakfast and all in all were satisfied with our stay. So if the receptionist were friendlier, it would have been a great experience but right now I have to rate it a bit lower.…
Yet again, Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve didn't disappoint. Each time, it gets better. This time, with friends from India, we stayed at the luxury tents and found it perfect. Dinner and breakfast was delicious. The restaurant manager, Jeetesh, took extra care to get us vegetarian options. The staff was warm and courteous. Our night tour to watch green turtle laying eggs was wonderful under a galaxy of stars and cool breeze blowing across. We were fortunate to watch the turtles laying eggs. Our guide Hamad Al Amri gave us good information and his understanding and turtles of the turtles was very useful for us. Overall, it was a great evening. The Morning visit to watch turtles was successful with the sunrise providing us an amazing feeling on the lovely beach. A sumptuous breakfast followed, which meant that we carry wonderful memories of the visit again. Thanks to all of Ras Al Jinz staff and the hard working team at Omran, who are taking great efforts in promoting Oman tourism.…
Went for a Turtle Watching getaway from Muscat with our family. It was a great experience we had. With the eco tents stay and excellent food and friendly and caring staff made our journey most memorable one.
Nice Place to stay, turtle Tour well organized, excellent food (!!), buffet in the evening - very Good with many Food options; very luxurious tent rooms with aircondition and own bathroom; helpful hotel employees;
We had a great time here! Two nights was perfect with kids, we went to two turtle night viewings and saw turtles laying eggs. The food was really good, considering it is quite remote there! The variety of food was surprising. Thanks to Jetheesh, Fayasal and Kishan who looked after us in the restaurant.
