Detailed Reviews
The hotel is quite new, maximum built 3 years ago, but really well kept. Some building works still in progress, but not disturbing at all, no noise or dust. Everything well maintained and organised, very clean, even the beach, the water is crystal clear, using solar energy, thinking about environment protection . Life guards always on their post. They are a couple of pools, beaches and always enough beach beds and towels, altough it was fully booked for Cmas.
The room itself was huge, we just loved the special lights above the bed, like you are sleeping outside under the stars, even you can recognize the stars. The bathroom huge too, with different showers. The housekeeping works very well organised, everything was perfectly clean, the housekeeping personal was polite and did they work without disturbing the guests. Congrats to the housekeeping manager, well trained personal, well done work.
We cant say the same about the buffet restaurant, they just couldn’t clean up enough quick, was difficult to find a place to sit, and once the food and beverage manager ordered the waiter not to bring us drinks. But the Breaker’s and Al Samah restaurants are great, especially the fish restaurant , we ate the best Mahe Mahe there, the chef is just perfect, as professional and highly polite and kind was our waiter, Man and the manager. We ate twice there, with big pleasure. Otherwise the alcoholic drinks offer in the all inclusive is really wide.
We should especially thank to Ms Imelda, front office supervisor, to be always helpful, to make a late check out possible, and all the front office staff, being at our assistance by fixing the safe deposit or the lock of the door, making our stay comfortable.
The gym is ok, my son only missed an ergometer, he is a professional athlete, preparing himself to the European Indoor Rowing Championship. So if new machines will be ordered once, please, consider buying an ergometer, lots of people using it.
We definitely would turn back, enjoyed the wonderful weather, the ocean, the kind hospitality and the super trip to the desert.

At the turn of last year and this year, we spent part of our holiday in the Fanar Hotel and residences. This nice, spacious and very well maintained hotel in amazing location has offered us everything what we needed for full satisfaction and comfort starting with precise room cleaning through delicious food and ending with beautiful landscaped beaches with plenty of parasols and sun lounger and of course many sport facilities. It should be emphasized that the very well trained, skillful and decent staff contributes significantly to the overall pleasant atmosphere of the hotel and thus increases positive impression, namely for example experienced chef Mr. Moataz which you could meet daily at the outdor grill FFC during dinner was always very polite, kind and helpful to all people including children while preparing delicious meat, which many people used to add repeatedly. We also greatly appreciated the high quality of hotel SPA, in this clean and quiet oasis of peace and relaxation we found a well coordinated team of professional masseurs with perfect body care skills for complete physical and mental regeneration, the long daily opening hours allowed us to convenietly include massages in the varied program. We have very nice personal experience with Mr. Sameh and Mr. Emad, who was very willing to provide us with all the information about massages and who was always ready to offer us the most suitable dates for us according to our needs and wishes and with truly excellent masseurs Mr. Massimo and Mrs. Nataly , who provided us with absolutely professional care in the form of a series of several massages, thanks to which we felt great in all respects. This holiday at the Fanar Hotel and residences is one of the best we have ever had and we can highly recommend it.

Because of Covid, we returned to the Fanar Hotel after two years. The excellent location, the helpful staff were as perfect as they used to be.
The cleanliness was perfect, every restaurant or bar had a disinfectant at the entrance and a mask in abundance. It is also worth buying the "premium guest" package, because that way we got even better care. There were few in the premium sunbathing area of the premium guest, and this couple was cooked separately every day in a small bar near the beach. 99% was perfect, only the wines suffered two years of downtime. In this tropical environment, the wines could not be stored professionally, so we started with a little tired wines. Later, we also gave a couple of bottles of fresher wine to our complaint, but I think only to Premium customers or just to us.
Still, a great place to recommend to anyone.

I wrote a previous review a few days ago. Upon leaving I feel the need to update. I am well travelled and generally used to great places. The rooms ( many ) and the general structure don’t disappoint. My room was beautiful with much space and coffee facilities and as an all inclusive the possibility to top up the fridge as needed.
What disappointed the most were 2 things. First the beach which was artificial in most places of the kind where seemingly people wander round at night to grab a sunbed under the too few sunshades. By 8 o clock all the beds are taken. The sea is protected by a barrier and the seabed seems to be a kind of silt. In the winter months if you really love the sea it’s not for you (nor me)
Second big disappointment is the buffet style restaurant which reminds me of a busy station during the rush hour. The first 10 minutes are taken up searching for a table ( Eden village piccoli privilegi prendete nota quanto e ridicolo
A fine giugno. Più piccolo più intimo. Meglio. Italiani e no.
Io sento che si uniforma tutto. Triste. Non ci torno di sicuro.

After a busy and fantastic adventure of Oman we were looking forward to some chill time.
The Fanar is a huge beautiful complex with much to offer. Great beach and activities for all. Although no yoga teacher turned up last night even though that was advertised and told to other attendees that it was on.
Rooms are super clean and spacious.
Staff are friendly, as are all people in Oman!
But...check in....super slow and then we're told very little about what was on offer, around the complex, which for any hotel not good enough. We were advised that we would need to eat at the buffet, as the other restaurants were booked, which wasn't the case as we walked around after and they were hardly full at all.
Buffet was good (not the best we've had for the price in Oman though) shout out to the pastry chef who made the most delicious turkish pastries. BUT...we were constantly asked our room number and then given the bill half way through our meal, which is weird anywhere in the world! We were then asked the same thing in the morning at breakfast - making us fill like 2nd class stayers, although we'd already paid for it (plus reception has our cc details).
No doubt it's a 5 star facility but made us feel like 3 star customers.
We'll be returning in a couple of days, as it's been provoked and can't be cancelled, and hope for an improvement to the above so finish off our amazing time Ian amazing Oman.
Thanks.
Ms Oakley

The hotel has three beaches, one of which faces the ocean where one can body surf and eat lunch at the Breakers restaurant overlooking the beach and the ocean. If you wade through a shallow stream you can jog or walk on a more desolate and perhaps endless beach with hard sand which is optimal for that activity.
The hotel has three pools of about 33 meters in length which is optimal for swimming lengths. I also discovered outdoor yoga and pilates group sessions. The instructress from Belarus was very good. Her name is Alene. They offered quite a few water activities, but I didn`t participate in them.
The hotel has one tennis court which was always in use. Management is building another hotel or an addition to Fanar and maybe they will build another few tennis courts.
The hotel played Christmas music from 06:30 when they started serving breakfast until 22:00 when they stopped serving dinner and from before Christmas when we arrived until and including January 1st.

The place:
Lets start from location, fanar Hotel is placed around 25 km from salalah city, but there is no need to go there other than shopping. I wont write about surroundings as you wont be seeing then too much from hotel, its Just so big that you never go outside (thats why you have access to club cars with drivers). There are 3 main beaches, one is with open ocean and you can play with waves and see beautifull shels, 2 other are in marina, all are safe and with liveguards, its worth mentioning that you don't need to bring beach towells as some ppl did. This complex can have plenty of guests, but there is no "crowdy" feeling. There are plenty of activities and 8 days are not enough to try and see everythng. Rooms are comfy and clean (everyday cleaning including replacing shets and towels if you want)
The food:
We used 3 restaurants mainly, we ate different food everyday and it was very fresh and tasty. I wont write what was the best, everyone should be happy.
I dont under stand why ppl say that there is bad food there, there are plenty of choices everyday.
All in all, everyone got specific taste and like different things, but if you walk around (and check all restaurant not only insides) you will be more than pleased.
And The Best
The staff:
We were in plenty places but we haven't seen such hard working and kind ppl. Everybody is helpfull and interested in your wellbeing.
Mr. Gouda is visible everywhere checking for any possibility that something might be wrong or unpleasant. You can allways see him smiling and giving advices to staff around hotel. His attitude is professional. I wont to mention so many ppl...
My family decided on waitress Miriam (she got biggest heart and great attitude) and i will add my friend Salim (life guard whith great emotions)
We did not seen anyone from staff beeing rude or out of place.
Shortly:
Pros:
Staff (master Gouda)
Great beaches and ocean
Whole place is green and tidy
Clean rooms
Club cars
Privacy
Food
Aqua gym with valentina
Cons:
Just to write something here, maybe a bit more transparent animations schedule, although we didnt focus on them anyway.
Great place, we hope to Visit again.

+1
We spent 1 week here and it was magical. The hotel is a first class hotel, the staff is always friendly, kind and caring. The beaches with white sand are perfect and the food is delicious. General speaking, we loved Oman and its people. It is a very safe country and people are always smiling and helping, if you need something.
It takes ca. 30 min from the airport to get in the hotel. Salalah is a small but cute city but the hotel is perfect. There are interesting attractions also. We visited and stayed one night in the desert arranged by the hotel, it was perfect. There is also Wadi Darbat, where you can do a daily travel to. It has a perfect scenery with little waterfalls, camels, donkeys, goats and other animals in an all green valley. There are also other interesting tours and attractions, which you can arrange from the hotel. There is also an aqua park in the complex, which you can visit. Last but not least, there is a tiny zoo in the hotel which was really cute.
We had a room with ocean view. In the room, we had everything what we could possibly need in a hotel room. However, to be honest, you will not be spending much time in the room, when you see the hotel, beaches and other attractions.
The food is perfect. You have different restaurants with different options to eat. In one (Breakers), each night a different food concept (Indian, Brazilian, Omani etc.) is served. One (Al Samaak) is only dedicated to see food lovers and others have their own styles (Sindbad was our favourite), so you have to try it yourselves. There are also hot/cold snacks at almost every corner of the hotel. To sum up, between 7.30 and 22.30 you can always find something to eat and drink, which tastes delicious.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience for us.

We just returned from a 5 day holiday at Fanar Hotel Salalah and I must say we enjoyed every moment of our time there. The room was very spacious, well equipped and the housekeeping was really perfect. There was a smell of mould in the room, which we had read from previous reviews before going there, but after a few hours of keeping windows open it disappeared. Maybe they should keep in mind to increase the AC temperature a bit as humidity returns into mould because of condensation.
Main restaurant needs a bit of more choices and variety and I have to say it doesn't meet a 5 star standard. But anyway there's something yummy for every meal and you can't leave the restaurant hungry.
When we asked for a late check out at the reception they wanted to give it upon an extra charge of 30 omr, which was not acceptable according to the package we had which included free late check out in case of availability. Appearantly there was availability....
We booked one ala carte theemed dinner at Aubergine restaurant. The food, service and ambiance was very nice, but we couldn't skip to notice how the waiters kept asking us if we needed more wine (extra charge) but we had to ask 3 times to bring water (free of charge).
The resort has a very nice animation team which keeps kids entertained during daytime, (Margarita is super kind with kids) and organize shows and partys at nighttime. You barely get bored in this hotel. The beach party on the last night of our stay was super cool.
There are 3 different beaches many games stations, volleyball, table tennis etc... The sea got a bit yellowish during last days of our stay maybe from an algae eruption, which is not hotel's fault but you probably need to get this information upfront. The grounds need a better touch and greenery. There's always someone dispersing refreshments, ice cream etc.. Maggie and Sammy were very helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay there and we would return back again and also recommend to our friends.

I had asked for fruit basket on 12th and it was given to me whose plate is lying since the night of 12th Aug outside my room but no one has picked. There should be free airport pick and drop for the guests ayleast 3 times during the day.
