At our very late arrival Veronica very nice and great Corry announced us that she upgraded us in a great villa with a pool. She has been so nice and helpful, GENN who is present non stop at the restaurant is somebody who makes you happy.
The room service was more than perfect but I couldn’t see the one of the morning so I will name Saimon, Nashir and Soboj for the time down at night. they are really perfect. Gihan at the reception was great to allow us to stay for a late check out and when we left, Yussuf and Yasmina has been so nice that we already missed this hotel and want to come back very soon. I could name everybody on the beach and everywhere. They are so helpful and professional absolutely everybody has been nice and made this stay a moment of happiness in this paradise. Hope we will come back soon.

Our stay at the Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara in February 2020 was our 6th. We keep returning, and will continue to return in future years, because it is almost as perfect as it gets if you just wish to relax, get away from everything, enjoy excellent and varied cuisine in a super environment with extremely helpful, friendly and attentive staff.
(Especial thanks to our ever attentive Riri who we have come to know well. )
If you enjoy wine, then we would highly recommend a “wine tasting” event with Abhi. He shares his knowledge of the different wines in a very interesting and entertaining manner.
The Al Baleed has a new general manager, Mr Mohammed Wazir, and we were fortunate to have the chance of talking with him at the welcome event for new guests at the Al Mina. He is a charming and interesting man with a great deal of experience who made a very positive impression and is certainly an asset for the Al Baleed.
The three restaurants Sakalan, Al Mina (Mediterranean) and Mekong (Asian) are all excellent, providing delicious and varied cuisine. The service is always efficient and very friendly. Particularly to be recommended are the buffet BBQ and seafood evenings at the Sakalan and the asian buffet evening at the Mekong. A la Carte dining at the Al Mina provides an excellent alternative to the buffet at the Sakalan
The pool and beach areas are very well managed and very clean with friendly and attentive personnel always on hand
We have stayed in a variety of rooms and villas at Al Baleed and we can say without hesitation that they are all excellent, immaculately clean with very comfortable beds.
There was no live music at the Al Mina during our stay because of the mourning period after the death of the sultan. Normally there is, and on previous visits having a few drinks after our meal and listening to the music was a very pleasant end to the day. (Especially when it was Carlos`s band.)
If there is something that I would criticise, it is the price of alcoholic beverages. They are, by any standards, extremely expensive. It may well be because of the duty charged on alcohol in the Oman, but expensive is still expensive whatever the reason.

Dear Dr Michael B, It gives immense appreciation reading through your very detailed review of your recent stay experience. Our team will definitely be delighted reading this. Unfortunately during your stay happened to be the mourning period that we are mandated by the ministry to suspend any entertainment in the resort. Thank you for your kind words and appreciation and we definitely look forward to see you on your next visit. Kind regards, Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara Team

Everything has already been said. We have been returning to the Al Baleed for the third time and we are already planning our next stay at this wonderful hotel. Staff in all parts of the hotel are extremly friendly without being obstrusive. Made from Bali in the restaurant is taking wonderful care of everyone as do all of his colleagues. The whole resort feels very intimate and individual. Food at the Sakalan Buffet is excellent, although I usually do not like Buffet food. Lots of cooking stattions where food is permanently cooked fresh. Beach is just fantastic, as is the giant pool. Rooms are spacious, very clean and beautifully furnished.

I can recommend everyone to rent a car and explore the wonderful Dhofar region from the Yemeni border to the West to As Shuwaymiyah in the East. Some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen.

The only two points to complain:

1. Although there are plenty enough of beach chairs along the beautiful beach the bad habit of some hotel guests to reserve beach chairs early in the morning close to the shore and show up hours later is also strong even in this resort. I would recommend to educate these ignorants by removing their towels when they dont show up within 30 minutes after their "reservation". There is no other way to suppress this bad habit you find all over the world. I talked with one of the friendly beach staff who understand the problems and who told me that they would remove towels if people don't show up after one hour but to be honest it never happened and I understand that it is difficult for the staff as they fear complaints by these ignorant hotel guests but it only works if you remove the towels and maybe a bigger sign at the beach telling everyong that reservations of beach chairs are not accepted would help.

2. It seems that most of the rooms at this hotel are sold to travel agencies where you will get acceptable rates for the rooms. If you book directly via the anantara website or directly via the hotel the rates can be extremly high. So for example we paid for a double room via a travel agency round about 300 Euro per Night. If I would have booked it via the website or directly at the hotel where I asked about their rates I would have nearly paid the double. A policy that should be changed.

Returned to the Al Baleed Resort by Anantara during the National Day Holiday weekend for a two night stay. The resort was not fully booked due to the travel restrictions and more on the quiet side. It was especially what we were looking for to spend quality time with the family.

All members of the staff from front desk, restaurant to housekeeping exceeded our expectations and did their best to make our stay most enjoyable.

The hotel grounds as well as our villa was impeccably clean. Check in was done in a breeze and we truly enjoyed the welcome amenities provided by the resort.

A sumptuous breakfast buffet was included in our rate and we enjoyed the outdoor dining open next to the main pool. For dinner we opened for the be buffet at the main restaurants. COVID-19 measures were in place to make the dinner a safe experience with main courses served at the table.

The resort offers an abundance of free and chargeable activities. We enjoyed the beach with free provision of surf boards. The horseback riding for the kids by the beach was somewhat overpriced and not as nice as expected. Gym was opened by staff in the morning on demand. All equipment was exceptionally clean.

We are looking forward to our return to Salalah and the Al Baleed Resort and hope Oman will open for international tourists again soon.

We lived staying at this resort. We had a private beach area and pool and so even though all the Covid restrictions had everything shut down we still enjoyed our stay very much. Everything was clean, the room, the pool, the grounds, it was all picture perfect. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We traveled with a teenaged daughter and she loved the the resort as well. The thoughtful design of the bathroom entrance exit from the pool was a bonus no wet dripping clothes going through the living areas. Excellent facilities we would stay there again!

This hotel is incredible! I cannot recommend it enough.

I stayed with my family for six nights in a one bedroom beach villa which was out of this world. I didn’t want to leave.

The villa itself has its own pool and opens directly onto the hotels private beach. I loved this so much.

The beach is beautiful, so picturesque with stunning white sands, palm trees and turquoise sea. We even saw dolphins swimming around.

Our one bedroom villa slept 2 adults and 3 small children comfortably. We had plenty of space.

The bathroom was spectacular, you can take a relaxing bath whilst looking out at the sea. You can also get into the bathroom directly from the pool which helps when you have little ones, so they’re not slipping around the villa, you can shower them straight away.

In terms of food the whole family was happy. There is a good selection of restaurants, Mekong was my favourite, the food was delicious.

The hotel also facilitated my Ramadan fast bringing Suhoor to my room at 4am. They also provided tips on fasting, they were very supportive.

The staff at the resort are the best. I cannot sing their praises enough. They ensured my whole family had a wonderful time. They were so helpful and made our stay very memorable.

It was my daughters birthday whilst we were staying at the resort and the staff went out of their way to make her day special. Sand art, birthday cake, balloons, banners, gifts, horse riding…they arranged everything.

A big shout out to Hassan and Cory who were both amazing, they went above and beyond. Thank you both, we’ll never forget this trip.

It’s definitely one to visit, you won’t want to leave!

We stayed at the Al Baleed resort in early April 2022 and had a wonderful experience. The resort felt elegant and calm even when it became busier and the staff were exceptional. The rooms were luxurious and the bed the most comfortable we have slept in in any resort. The beach runs for miles and the white sand in front of the hotel is fluffy and pristine, freshly swept every morning.

Zakariah the hospitality manager was ever helpful and charming, Tony went beyond the call of duty to ensure flowers for our anniversary were perfect and Kitty’s exercise classes were varied and fun.

The breakfasts were superb and dinners at Mekong featured some of the best Asian food we have ever had (the decor is exceptional too). The hotel arranged horse riding on the beach and a hire car for a snorkelling trip to Mirbat and took care of us at every point. Throughly recommended - and do take a half day trip to Wadi Darbat (beautiful pools and waterfalls) and enjoy hundreds of camels, including those sleeping in the middle of the road!

As you would expect from any Anantara hotel, standards are high in many areas. A few things to be aware of if you planning a stay here:

1. The price of food and beverages are extremely high, I would say almost double what you would pay at the Crowne Plaza.
2. Poolside restaurant (very nice setting overlooking the beach/pool) is not open until 3pm. Not sure why, it's a lovely location. Instead, you'll have to take lunch in the main restaurant - a small outdoor area, not particularly appealing. Breakfast is also taken here and would be so much nicer overlooking the beach.
3. We had a few problems with our bill which has been problematic to resolve - it's worth checking.

The above are not reasons to avoid this hotel as on the whole it is lovely. Just FYI.

The property was stunning. Very private with a good size pool. The interior of the villa had a very ‘Arabic/ Majlis’ feel - it was spacious and comfortable. Extra little touches like a sink and Nespresso machine in the ‘minibar’ area of the villa were great. The beds were large and comfortable and the bathroom was particularly stunning - being able to bathe or shower looking out to the pool area was amazing. The star of the Villa was undoubtedly the pool. It was visible from the lounge, the bedroom and the bathroom. The whole outdoor area space was fantastic complete with cabana, dining table and chairs together with an outdoor sofa area.

Beautiful hotel in a great location, but with room for improvement.

The whole complex is very well maintained and despite its size, wonderfully quiet, the atmosphere extremely relaxing. The location is only 20 minutes from the airport (but still no aircraft noise) on a long, very wide stretch of beach that is almost deserted.

The beach and pool area are very well maintained, nice comfortable loungers, there were always free spaces both on the beach and by the pool.

The hotel's biggest plus point is the incredibly friendly and courteous staff. Because you feel very well looked after and comfortable, you initially overlook a lot of things that shouldn't really be the case in a hotel in this price range.

We had booked a room with a sea view in the main building. And we did so quite deliberately, a villa would not have been an improvement for us. Unfortunately, I had the impression that this category is not quite as important to the management, and that guests in the main building also have a few disadvantages compared to the villa residents.

Our room was beautiful, very nicely furnished, actually exactly what we had imagined. However, the room smelled of a blocked drain (which actually didn't work properly) the whole time we were there and the toilet flush was stuck, which housekeeping should have noticed every day when they cleaned.
I didn't really understand the lighting system in the room until the end, it was hard to understand which switch combinations had to be set to turn certain lights on or off. The 5 minutes that we spent trying things out each time were a lot of fun though.
There was only 1 chair on the balcony, and only 1 spoon by the coffee machine.
There wasn't a single hook in the entire bathroom for towels or the bathrobe. The staff had simply hung it on the handle of the wardrobe in the hallway.

Unfortunately, housekeeping was sloppy overall. Towels were constantly missing. The toothbrush glass and shower shelf, makeup mirror and other things were not cleaned. The evening turndown service really only consisted of turning down the bed and putting a date on the pillow. The bathroom and the wet towels were ignored. There was a knock for the second service every evening at 6 p.m., which was when most guests were in the shower. If you didn't open the door or press the do not disturb button, there was a card on the door saying that if you wanted the service, please call reception.

Although we greeted the cleaning staff when we left the room in the morning, so they knew we weren't in the room, it wasn't cleaned for over 6 hours.

We had previously stayed at the Anantara Al Jabel al Akhdar in the north, which was absolutely perfect in every respect, and were therefore a little disappointed by the standard of the Al Baleed.

The quality of the breakfast and the two à la carte restaurants are extremely positive. The food and service there are excellent. The Mekong is outstandingly good.

The prices of drinks, including soft drinks, are depressingly high. While this is understandable for alcohol, it is incomprehensible for cola and local water.

I can still recommend the hotel and will come back, but I would like to address certain points that are important to me right from the start.

I suspect the answer is that during the Khareef (monsoon) season which runs roughly over the exclusion period, the sea visibility will be very poor. I haven’t snorkelled off the beach in front of the Anantara hotel - I suspect there’s not much to see at the best of times, but good for swimming and body surfing. For snorkelling and scuba you need to drive up to Mirbat where there are a couple of good locations. In late November last year we used ABT Divers (who have an office at the Crowne Plaza just up the beach),for a half day (6 hours) snorkelling trip to Mirbat, which we really enjoyed. Good visibility, interesting wreck to explore, lots of fish and a large turtle.
