First of all and most importantly, the benefits they present on their website for being mybarcelo must be fulfilled to the letter and not with the pretext that the website is one thing and the reception system is another. In January of this year they told me that during my next stay, which would be my fourth, I would have the benefits of "INTENSE", but when I arrived they told me that what the website says is not true, that it is the system that they They manage at reception.

And lastly, they should tell their staff that the drinks are unlimited and they should serve them as many times as they want. It is unpleasant to be left wanting, and yet to respond in a bad way. And of the 4 times I have gone with my wife, this has been the worst experience, starting from reception.

The only thing I appreciate is that they took into account that my wife was pregnant and my mother-in-law was elderly and gave us a room near the restaurant and pool.

Normal, with some off-flavors. Nothing really outstandingly good to highlight, apart from the breakfast. It was quite evident that the pool was crying out for a good cleaning. The room cleaning service was quite good, they cleaned well and replaced towels and reloaded accessories in the bathroom. Bar service at peak times was too tiring. You had to wait in line for up to 15 minutes to order a drink. To order a snack it could take longer. Something that in the end I gave up checking, I didn't have the mood for that.

This is not the first time we stayed here so I can tell you with confidence that the service has declined to almost non-existent. After checking in at 2:30, we were told our room wasn’t ready and to come back. We can back at 3 and received our key. We also received a voucher for 3 pool towels and there were four of us (and to clarify, you pay per person here). The front desk would not give us a voucher for 4 so we had to plead with the towel hut staff to get the fourth towel. Upon arriving at the room, we had ONE towel in the bathroom, the refrigerator leaked water on the floor, the bathroom mirror and counter were filthy, and there were ants. We called and were told that housekeeping already left and we would have to get the towels tomorrow. 😲 So, we had to use our wet pool towels to shower. I booked a massage on day one and paid for it for 10:00am on day two. At 10:00 there was no one at the spa. 😲 The food quality has declined and most of the wait staff are far from friendly. The front desk did nothing to remedy any of this after numerous calls and visits to the front desk. Then, after the final complaint when the fourth towel still was not in the room after 3:30 on day 2, the housekeeper arrived and argued that there were four towels. After telling her the fourth towel was the only one there from the first day and it was used, she again argued that it was clean. Finally we convinced her to bring the towel. Then upon returning to the room before dinner the maintenance staff arrived saying that my husband was beating on the door and he would be reported for damage to the door. None of which happened. I have never in my life experienced such awful service and I will be telling everyone I know to steer clear of this place. We looked forward to a relaxing weekend and spent the whole time on the phone or standing at the front desk only to never be heard. The ONLY person who was kind and willing to listen was the bus driver on the property. Trust me, take your money somewhere else.

Resort is beautifully kept landscape wise.
We rented 3 cabins and they were horrible, dirty and full of aunts.
The only option for food was the buffet that was also dirty and not properly sanitized, replenished. The alcoholic drinks are watered down.
The nearest full service restaurant is 2hrs away.
The entire cabins were extremely dirty, bathrooms were disgusting yellow stains on floor and toilets, mold buildup inside the toilets. The floors looked like they had not been moped and swept in ages. The sheets were dirty, stained and just plain grossed. The rooms were filled with ants that were going on the bed, luggage and of of your belongings.
The resort is very dark at night and their outside lights are not all working so you will need a flashlight to get around.
SAFETY*****I stopped a woman from taking items from inside my purse while I had my purse on me, this happened inside the pool bar. I later learned they have Day passes and those are the people that tend to go to take items from tourists. The resort does have signs indicating they are not responsible for lost items. This place is not worth your money!! I canceled the rest of my stay and they offered me a refund but it would take 30-35 days to show on my card however I took it because I did not want to stay there a second more.

Went with my family and friends for the first time since is all inclusive. We paid $300 dollars per night on a weekend (bad idea to go on a weekend) too crowded, trashed, people from all over come to the daypass parillada which they also have access to the buffet area and that makes it a pain in the ... because of the long line to get food and a decent table to enjoy your meal . They should have the daypass people on a separate area or have them have access to only the bar food and drinks .
The pool area was trashed by all those people that comes in buses for the day.
The night show was ok nothing expectacular the bungalow was ok no soap in the dispenser. The beach you can enjoy only early morning or late evening because during the noon it gets burning hot . I wouldn't come back on a weekend or better yet get a private house elsewhere at a nice beach.

No vale la pena. Sucio, las líneas para el buffet es estresante dejan entrar a gente por el día y eso es un caos.

The rooms and the resort needs a lot of improvements. The safe and mini fridge did not work. There was no hot water in the shower and the phones in the room did not work so had to walk to the reception area every time to let them know when something was not working. Which is no big deal to walk to reception but when on vacation you want to resolve things quickly. They said they would send maintenance and they never fixed or replaced the minifridge and safe during our stay. They advertise that the resort has 5 restaurants in reality there was only 1 and it was buffet every day so no a la carte restaurants at all. They also advertise they have Wi-Fi when in reality they don't have Wi-Fi at all.

I stayed with my family from June 1 to June 4
There is not hot water, they provide just 2 towels per room and you have to keep them as long as you are there because they don't replace or give extra ones.
Phones are not working and if you want to communicate with the front desk? You have to walk and go talk to them.
Pools are dirty; full of empty plastic cups.
The buffet is always the same; do not expect lobster, fresh fish or any other especial sea food.
Drink are served in small plastic cups and liquors are made of poor quality.
The worst is to come!
Beaches are full of garbage!
Don't dare to swim on them!
On the shore, you can find from empty bottles of water and milk, to used pampers.
My family and I expected the same quality and service that we experienced in some others Barceló or Melia Resorts we stayed in.
Definitely, I do not recommend Barcelona Montelimar at all.
There are some others good all inclusive resorts in Nicaragua where you can choose for and less expensive.
Please, review it before make a booking.

Coming to this place my vacation turned into a nightmare he explained to us why the day I arrived I booked a room with an ocean view and when they handed me the room plus the Cabin I realized that it was not Vistalmar but well I accepted it as well as how it was then once in the room I realized that the coffee machine did not work the air conditioning did not work the safe did not work then I called the reception for you to fix me fix the problem but the phone never answered me then I had to walk there after an hour the maintenance men sent me then the medium maintenance men tried not to fix the problem is the strong charge I say that the strong charge was missing the battery then it was for the battery he never returned the other man of the air conditioning I say that it will fix the problem he said everything was fixed and a minute after he left it no longer worked. then I went again to the reception to complain and again I was sent someone. Then I had to stay all afternoon to fix everything.This means that my first day at this spring was lost. and this day it cost me almost 200 dollars, practically money thrown in the trash.The ordinary food also every day if to lunch if to dinner always the same food.The Cabin has television but does not work, the wifi does not work either the pool and pretty but disgusting because all guests bathe dressed the same as they wear in the streets and caregivers do not happen and this talk is very unsound.If people come here to look for the beach there seems to find a beach I am sure that there is a prize is not very much disappointed in this and I am sorry to write this prize is very disappointed in the people.

It is the third time I have visited this place and it went very badly.
We were greeted with a large speaker at full volume at the reception, we couldn't speak or hear well.
At first it looks more neglected and old. The locks, in 3 rooms that we had, ALL gave problems to open the door and it is not because they do not have experience in opening it, but they do not work 100 anymore. We spent about 15 minutes trying to open 318, where part of the family was staying, until finally. To top it off, speaking of this same room, there was like a sewer or drain and it stank horribly like rot, you couldn't enjoy the chairs and hammock on the little porch.
Speaking of the Oceano restaurant, there are kilometer-long lines to be able to serve you food, and on this last stay it was so full that we had no table or chairs, until we finally found 4 chairs and 1 table in the middle of the sun, we had no cutlery, no napkins, they treated us very badly. I don't understand, in order to have a cup of coffee the waiters have to serve it to you at your table and it takes them ages to bring it and not to mention the other drinks and even the cutlery, they should allow us to serve ourselves.
They should definitely expand the restaurant area so that all customers are guaranteed excellent conditions (which is why we are paying). Find more staff and streamline the buffet (put in one more station, at least. Or simply don't oversell when they don't have the conditions to serve so many people well.
Lastly, the service offered by one of the tour drivers was not helpful. We told him that we were going to the restaurant and he never told us that we were already at the restaurant stop, we went around 5 times, we told him to let us know 3 times and he said that it was fine, when we complained he said that it was our fault.
