We were a group of 5 staying at Le Relais de Kuberka and we had an amazing time. Pascal and his team were extremely welcoming and helpful. The rooms were simple, clean and had everything we needed. The swimming pool was enjoyable (even if we spent most of the time at the beach which is 5 minutes walking distance away from the place). We had dinner several times at the restaurant and the food was very good and fresh. I highly recommend Le Relais de Kuberka and will remember the kindness of our hosts. Well done and thank you so much team :)
We arrived at the site in the late afternoon due to missing the cruise in the morning, having to organise last minute flights, and after a series of misadventures, we were welcomed with open arms, which made it all better. The host, Pascal, had a smile on his face and took us to our room. The room is simple, however very cosy. When we were done unpacking, we were led to the restaurant and had local escargots à l’ail (garlic snails), and to be honest, they tasted amazing. The hotel has the reputation of having the best table on the island, and it is easily believable with the fresh local products, such as the forest snails, fish, vegetables and lobsters. The day after, we felt like going bushwalking, and were on our way to the pic of N’ga, which was only 300 metres away. We took beautiful pictures despite the cloudy weather, then made our way to the “Baie de Kuto”, where we had an early afternoon swim. The site is very close to everything and a transfer can be organised to and from anywhere on the island. If you are looking to relax with a small island vibe at a very reasonable price, I do recommend booking a room and reserve a table to enjoy their amazing food. The staff was very welcoming, therefore do not hesitate to have a chat with them if you are looking for things to do on the island as they are full of good advice.…
There have been mixed reviews for this place so we were a little anxious on arrival as to what it would be like. The room is spacious and clean. Had a fridge, tv, fan and air conditioning (have to pay extra for this, we didn't need it in July). The had reliable transport to and from the airport for 1500pp (there and back). The restaurant was very expensive even compared to other locations on the island, we decided not to eat here so cannot comment on quality etc. The toilet roll holder was broken and the shower didn't have a curtain. But really nothing major was wrong. They provided us a kettle when we asked for one. Overall this is a basic accommodation that has everything you need. It is good value compared to other options on the island and it is in a good location. The walls did not seem overly thin as previous reviews have said. We heard the occasional cough but nothing else. If you are don't like/need the luxuries of a resort then I would recommend this accommodation.…
We were stranded at Isle of PInes for 1 night due to flight cancellations. The airline managed to find us accommodation at Relais Kuberka. The next morning, Pascal, the hotel manager was on the phone to the airline trying to get us on a flight. After breakfast he was told by the airline that we would be given an update at 1pm. So we wandered off and did some sightseeing thinking that nothing would happen prior to 1pm. Much to our amazement, Pascal turned up in a restaurant we were at in Kuto, about a kilometre from the hotel. It would have been about 12.45pm. He told us the airline could get us on a 1.20pm flight. I was flabbergasted that he managed to find us. There was a lot of tourist things to see around Kuto and Kanumera Bays. We could have been anywhere. Pascal tracked us down, rushed us back to the hotel so we could pack and then rushed us to the airport. We made our flight. What a guy.…
Been there with my wife and daughter and we had a wonderful time, thanks to the owner. Service very friendly and food tasty and fresh. Papaya garnishing is pretty interesting. Meat is good. Book your table in the garden, nice surroundings and trees. Do not forget to call before and book your dishes. Enjoy
We stayed in a room with self contained bathroom. Situated in lovely established gardens, with friendly helpful staff. Only 3 minute walk to beautiful Kuto beach, or 10 minute walk to Kanumera beach. 2 minute walk to beginning of track up to the Pic N'ga. Great option for more affordable basic accommodation on the island (you don't have many affordable options, next step down is probably into a tent !) Pascale the owner is Action Man. He is manager, secretary, waiter and comedian :-)
The Relais Kuberka is a quaint, older- styled motel with a great holiday atmosphere. Our rooms were neat, clean and comfortable. Set in a well maintained garden, the motel has its own pool and beautiful Kuto beach is a 5 minute walk away. Few staff speak English, but are friendly and want to help. When we, along with others became were stranded due to bad weather, the management and staff were amazingly patient and kind. Good Luck to them!
I went to the Relais Kuberka twice (the second time not by choice). The two times the owners were not friendly, they are not helpful at all. The food is average, employees are nice. When we came they didn't have running water in our room (no toilet, no bathroom). We haven't been told and we discovered it by ourself. This problem wasn't a breakdown... One of the owner apologised and said we will have 50% off for the accommodation. We had to share a single toilet/bathroom for 13 persons. When it was time to pay, the deal was over and we had only 30% off. I will not recommend this place
The place is very friendly, garden full of trees and well maintained. The tenants is lovely and helpful. This place is very close from a dairy, nice beaches and Mount Ng'a (must do!) I really recommend this Gite as it's also pretty cheap for the quality :)
We stayed for 3 nights and loved the hotel. A great location, good food and the kids loved the pool. All of the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, they helped us with transfers, car hire and local information to make our stay very relaxing.
