Welcome to Nataiwatch on one of the most beautiful islands of the world!!This island is known as the "Jewel of the Pacific" and is world renowned for its unspoilt beauty.Isle of Pines is approximately 18km long and 14km wide and as its name implies has a prominently pine tree skyline, set against white sand beaches and turquoise lagoons.Guillaume and Eulali KOUATHE are considered pioneers here as they created this guesthouse 31 years ago.

The Isle of Pines is a lovely place to spend a few days, it's sparsely populated and has little development. This makes the Isle a great place to relax and enjoy. The Gite is a 5 minute drive from the ferry terminal and about 20 minutes from the airport. It's situated amongst overhanging trees and is about 100 metres from the soft, sandy beach. We stayed in a traditional bungalow for 3 nights, which was comfortable for 2 but may be a squeeze for 4. The bungalow has a kitchenette with fridge and stovetop and lots of crockery, glasses, pots and pans etc. We brought some provisions with us from Noumea. The shower was good but the main bed is a double and is a tight fit for 2. As you are "in the country", there's a few roosters that compete for the loudest "crow" during the early hours. We ate at the restaurant one night and the food was excellent. We also booked a journey on a pirogue with lunch, at the gite, and then on to the Piscine Naturelle and that was a highlight. We really enjoyed our stay at the Gite. It was quiet, relaxing and something a bit different. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

I had a fabulous stay at Nataiwatch - it was exceptional and I can well recommend. The staff were lovely, the meals in the Restaurant were outstanding (love the Tuna Steak!!). The bungalow was very comfortable and it was sooo close to the most beautiful beach. Make sure you ask about ALL the tours as the boat tour across to the Island with Lobster for Lunch was a highlight as was the Outrigger boat across Upi lagoon. The staff arranged to take my bag (which I left at Reception in the morning) to the pickup at the end of a day/boat tour and dropped me at the airport at 3.30 ready for my 4.30pm flight which was fabulous. Cannot recommend this place to stay enough. Right on the best beach/s and amongst the more expensive Hotels as the best area to stay..... You will love your time at Nataiwatch, I cant wait to return!!

This is hard to rate because there are a lot of positives and negatives mixed up. The Isle of Pines is truly gorgeous. It might be the nicest beach destination I have ever seen. The complex is full of rich green foliage and it’s only a short walk down to the water. On the down side, our bungalow was very stuffy and the lack of air-con made it hard to sleep at times. Food is also a very mixed bag. The breakfasts were very basic and lacklustre but the dinner menu was great. Overall, this is a great place to stay but the food and services are frustratingly inconsistent.

Easy place to camp, protected by big trees on the side, flat grass/sandy areas to pitch tents and also cabins to rent for a bit more comfort. Small shop for a bit of food and also hire bikes, which you can cycle around the entire ~50km circumference of the island. I recommend a visit to the village of Vao along with some of the other beaches besides Piscine Naturelle. If you speak a bit of french, chat with some of the locals. Very friendly and open folks.

Camped here for 4 nights and had an incredible time. Right near the beach, good showers, relaxed vibe, cheap wine and great food. Best place to stay on the island and next to amazing beaches. We brought quite a bit of food with us and ate it with the fresh baguettes. There is electricity at the camping so you can charge your gear or even use a mini kettle to boil water. All hotels have different tours so take a look. We did the Upi boat tour with Nataiwatch and it was great

I come here regularly and I must admit, Nataiwatch is by far the most amazing place to stay on Isle of Pines. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Everything you require is on site and has walking access to the incredible Kanumera Bay. They also offer great tours and the staff is incredibly friendly. The restaurant provides a delicious breakfast buffet, and great local dishes for lunch and dinner. If you want to experience the authentic New Cal way of life on this stunning island, this is the place to be!

I loved everything about Nataiwatch and I would definitely stay there again. The staff were very hospitable - Kind, helpful, efficient. Nataiwatch has a casual ambience but is well organised and smoothly run. Room - Our twin bungalow was clean (and cleaned daily), comfortable, well-designed with a semi-private verandah with table and chairs and a little clothes line to dry swimming gear and towels on. It had a good bathroom with hot water and a bar fridge in the living area. Breakfast - Simple but fresh, tasty, well stocked. They have the best machine coffee (made from real coffee beans) I've ever tasted too. Some fruit available, plenty of fresh baguettes and sliced bread, homemade mango or papaya jam and confiture de coco. (I will comment on extra meals separately on the Nataiwatch restaurant page.) Activties - Very simple to book excursions from the front desk and worth going on the Pirogue tour. There were bikes to hire for half or full day so we took them for a spin to visit the monument and totem poles at Baie St. Maurice. Vibe - I loved the down-to-earth atmosphere of Nataiwatch and was able to really relax there. It helps being two minutes walk from a picture-perfect (not to mention basically deserted as there were no cruise ships in port) Kanumera Bay. Even though our checkout was at 10am and flight not until 4pm we were able to hang out and use the showers and other facilities to dust off the last grains of sand before heading back to the mainland. Merci Nicholas and the team for your warm welcome. I can't wait to visit again.

The room itself is not bad, though the whole gite has been constructed without much thought - for example, if you have luggage on wheels, you'll have to carry it as the paths are unsealed and muddy. There is no Internet (unlike every other place on Ile des Pins). The reception staff are only part-time. They stop at 12 noon for a 3-hour lunch, and then go home at 6 pm. When they deign to be there, they are neither particularly pleasant nor helpful. At checkout, the receptionist tried to overcharge me - charging me for a shuttle I never took nor booked, and getting the room rate wrong. This is just out of laziness because she couldn't be bothered to check properly. When I politely pointed out the errors, she re-issued my bill, but without a word of acknowledgement that she had made a mistake, without a word of apology. Who wants to stay where staff are like that? Not recommended.

I apologise, as I did not actually stay at Nataiwatch, but I did thoroughly enjoy the tour they offered. Myself and four other girls were visiting Ile de Pins for the day. We were keen on travelling on a pirogue (outrigger canoe) and on visiting La Piscine Naturelle, but none of the tour companies could facilitate this for daytrippers. Thankfully, Nataiwatch were able to organise pickup and dropoff from the airport for us. We left on the same PIrogue/La Piscine Naturelle tour they offer from the hotel. The tour is an absolute must-do! The pirogue trip is enchanting; Upi Bay feels like a smaller version of Ha Long Bay. We were motoring along for most of it (with the sail up though), but for the last 20mins we were just sailing. Butterflies were flitting around the canoe, which lent a magical air. At the end of the pirogue tour, we walked ~45mins to La Piscine Naturelle. This is the only reason I don't give the tour 5 stars; we had been expecting to be met by someone who would guide us on the walk to La Piscine Naturelle, and then to our pickup point. Unfortunately, no one was waiting for us so we had to make our own way. The path was clear enough, even if it wasn't completely smooth; if you kept going straight you couldn't get lost. The only trick to it is that at the apparent end of the path, you are meant to cross the river to join up with the path on the other side. Took us embarrassingly long to realise this! La Piscine Naturelle is as beautiful as advertised. Despite its popularity, it hasn't been developed; you can fool yourself that you are an intrepid explorer finding it! After staying ~2hrs at La Piscine Naturelle, we were transferred back to Nataiwatch on Kanumera Bay. We enjoyed beachside cocktails and walking on the beach until our airport transfer back. Excellent value for money; it cost us the equivalent of ~$80AUD each for transfers to/from the airport and the pirogue/la piscine naturelle tours.
