On the edge of the Dorob Park,the Swakopmund River mouth and mere metres from the beach, Tiger Reef has a prime location can't be beaten. Clean, neat private campsites with covered parking, a sprawling grass 'park' and right next to the famous Tiger Reef Beach Bar and Grill. Access control with a remote gate and security, communal area and hot showers. Stroll along the beach to the the lagoon in the Dorob National Park behold and its bird life - flamingos, pelicans etc. The National Marine Aquarium is meters from our entrance, walking distance to the jetty and the unforgettable restaurant at it's point-some 300 odd metres into the Atlantic Ocean- Jetty 1905. Town centre is a scenic few blocks away. We can't wait to welcome you at Tiger Reef Campsite

The Tiger Reef Camp is located on the outskirts of Swakopmund, right by the sea. You can hear the waves crashing all day and all night. We were here in the low season. There was some renovation work going on and there were relatively few small construction sites. But the campsite was clean and there was electricity. Internet is available mainly at reception. The staff are very friendly and the camp seemed safe, at least in the low season. The campsites were equipped with an electricity box, a covered picnic table and a small braai area. There were showers and toilets near reception. Since the camp is right next to the bar and grill of the same name, I can imagine that it is well attended in the high season.

Great campsite with good ablution facilites and access to an excellent reataurant with sea view. Even though we arrived late we were able to get a camp site. Each site were fenced, had a cover over a place to sit, a place for cooking and a water tap. Everything noce and clean

Extremely Nice place to camp near the ocian, staff verry friendly and helpful and the place is clean. The nearby Tiger Reef Restuarant offer good food and is not to expensive. Restuarant staff also very friendly and fast service. I will definately go camp there again.

Tiger Reef, what a place. It’s just on the beach, so one sleeps with the sound of the waves, awesome. Clean facilities, hot water and electric power available on each campsite. 1 small issue though, the separate Camp site fee during ( in season ) period, I feel it’s unnecessary, competitive campsites don’t have such a fee. Overall it’s a great place, & security guards give a peace of mind. I enjoyed my stay.

From requesting a quotation on a specific camp site to checking in and security and night shift and weekend staff, all extremely helpfull, I even leave my fishing rod, car keys, computer in the tent and they look after it. Sleeping in a tent, hearing the ocian at night, I have no words to describe it, beautiful. One problem, toilets and showers keep leaking, we can not afford to waste water in Namibia

Really doesn't live up to the description on the website.
Driving in, the Tiger Reef sign near the office is old, faded and illegible.
Ablutions facilities are superb - 10/10
However there are none of the things quoted on the Lighthouse Group website
* no water outlets in campsites
* only 5 amp power (stated 220V)
* no lush green lawn
* no boma at communal "braai area"
* no braai grids in braai at campsite
* And most importantly * definitely no 24 hour security as the 'fence' is just palm fronds and several cars and campsites were broken into last night, some foreign tourists losing all their clothing.
Workers tried to hammer in some planks in several places today, but there was no reassurance by management to campers that they would step up security.
There are 'lookout towers' all around the campsite, but they are unmanned.
Looking at previous posts now, security has clearly been a problem for years.
I wouldn't usually complain (and have had nothing but 5-star reports about each and every place we have stayed on our 4-week trip through Namibia)
But we asked to leave a day early due to the security issues and they refused to refund us. No problem.
Also compared to all the other campsites we have stayed (many with pools and all the above mentioned items and more) it is not really value for money
Website needs to be amended to reflect current situation.

On a camping trip throughout Namibia and stayed at so many beautiful places- but Tiger Reef in Swakopmund was a real disappointment. The campground is advertised as being on the river and a few meters from the beach, but fails to mention that between you and the beach is a scrapyard and the only view you have is into the fence of the scrap yard. The campsite had no water point, no braii grids, and the electricity point provided were only allowed to be used to charge your cell phone. The grounds were sandy and dusty and not even the covered area were paved. We set our tent and escaped into the city for a quick meal and left the campsite as early as we could in the morning. There must be better camping options in Swakopmund which is a much needed stopover for campers going into the north of Namibia.

TigerReef is a good place to stay for a couple of days. Going to the beach and bar takes 3 minutes. When you want to go to city centre it’s also less than 10 minutes by foot.
Campsites are clean and wide enough for a car with rooftent. Theres all you need at your site and toilets/showers aber just a few meters away.
Staff is friendly and always there if you need any help!

We stayed here in the quiet season and there were only a few other people at the campsite with us. Despite the low numbers, the facilities were immaculate and staff was always present. It’s a nice little
Campsite with some privacy between each site. The raised sitting area great and there is lots of room to park a truck.
Water was always hot in showers.

Actually a small, nice and centrally located campsite. The central area is currently being redesigned, which is why it looks a bit bleak at the moment, but that will definitely change.
However, the electrical wiring was dangerous during our stay. After we had connected our camper to the socket on site, the body was live, which led to a 3-second electric shock (including a stay in hospital, etc.). We cannot therefore recommend the site (or only without electricity ;-)). The next night we stayed at the site next door (Alter Brücke). We were very happy with it.
This is of course our personal experience, which cannot be generalized.

No, they only have communal bathrooms. Unfortunately they do not have ceilings either and the showers are drafty.
