We ended our 2 week adventure through Morocco (with our 10 month old son) with 3 nights at Dar Sahil. I am so glad I booked this spot as it was very peaceful and welcoming for us! Lovely food on the outside terrace for breakfast each morning. We also opted to enjoy lovely late dinners (after the baby went to bed) whipped up by Frank. Each night, whatever type of food we craved he obliged: traditional Moroccan first night, grilled fish and salad another night, and some tapas another. Paired with some good wine we really enjoyed these dinners as the only 'date nights' we really had traveling with an infant. Frank loves to cook and his care and imagination came through in his food. Although there was a language barrier as we do not speak French, we still figured out ways to converse and learn about each other. Since I put this review off for way too long, I have complete forgotten the name of the kind and lovely 'housekeeper'. We really appreciated her demeanor and she was wonderful with our son. I suppose I focused more on the people in my words, from the pictures you can see it is a beautiful spot. The kind hosts and thoughtful food are what made our stay the most memorable. Thank you ~ Paige, Kyle, & Bohdi

We stayed at Dar Sahil for about a 1 week early April. The good: it is a beautiful location. The Rooms are clean and nice. The new owners, Frank and his wife, are trying very hard and are getting better every day. It is their first hotel. The bad: after we checked out and settled paid the bill, we got a mail from Frank demanding payment. 2 days after demanding payment he wrote us that he informed the police and Interpol, gave them our passport details and that he will try to hurt the business of my girlfriends father by launching a social media campaign against his practice. Unfortunately, he targeted a poor man who just happened to have the same name as my girlfriends father. While it was true that there was a payment outstanding, which we believed to be settled, I am appalled by the way Frank went about it and will never go again while they run the place!!! Further, they don’t speak English!

Hi, You review is completly bad faith. You wanted to negociate everything and we did some important rebates. We had to threat you to get our complete payment. I would be completly unable to target your girlfriend on social media, beeing a complete rookie on these issues, and, I have to aknowledge that I have other tings to do. You talk about an attack on a poor man, you have no proof, and this is fake. Our english is poor, but far enough to tell you we are glad you will never come back! We, at Dar Sahil, are delighted to do our best for every clients, sometimes this is just impossible, we sincerly regret you had a bad experience.

Nadine and Frank were wonderful hosts, so helpful and welcoming, they really made our stay! The room was charming, the breakfast delightful and the supper delicious. Nadine and Frank were full of good advice on places to go. If you get a chance to go to the Sunday Market, definitely do this, it was definitely a highlight. We spent a wonderful long weekend here and couldn't recommend it more highly!

We stayed 2 nights at the end of our 3 week trip around Morocco. My only regret with this is that we did not stay longer! The grounds at Dar Sahil are gorgeous and serene. If you stay here, you absolutely must have Stefanie and Laurent cook you dinner. It was by far the best meal we ate in Morocco! If you are like us, you probably spend a lot of time looking at pictures of the rooms and grounds on TripAdvisor before choosing where to stay. We had trouble getting a sense of the layout of Dar Sahil from the pictures, but it turned out to be fantastic! Each room is essentially it's own building with privacy from the other rooms. It's a perfect layout with common spaces for socializing, but complete privacy back in our room.

We stayed 4 nights here on our honeymoon. We looked for something peaceful and relaxing away from the busy life of the medina in Marrakesh. We found Laurent and his wife´s new and beautiful quest house outside Essaouira. Its no more than 20 minutes away from the medina in Essaouria, but its far enough away from the main road and city to be absolutely peaceful and undisturbed. We did not feel that distance from the city was inconvenient. They have a nice little garden to take a cup of mint tea in and you can enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains in the distance while the sun is setting. Laurent and his team prepare some very delicious meals for dinner where the cuisine was either French and Moroccan. We did not have the pleasure of meeting his wife Stéfanie, but Laurent is a very kind and serviceminded host, who is good for a story and a laugh. He even took us personally to the busstation in Essaouira on our departure day.
